:arr Pirates! Pirates! Pirates! Pirates! Pirates! Pirates! Pirates! Pirates! :arr
I am so excited for this movie I am taking a personal day from work and am seeing at both matinees, the 7pm show and 10 pm. And probably a dozen more times during its run.
God I'm a Pirate whore - and I love it. :D

I have to admit, when I first heard the story outline I thought it was just a rehash of POTC 1 -- you know, ghost ship, monster pirates, chest of "gold", etc...
But this trailer rocks! The villains look better than the first and the adventure seems more fun. I do hope the sequel bests the original. It does have a chance...
No doubt this is my most-looking-forward-to flick this summer.

Me too. I didn't have really high hopes for the first one as it was a Disney film and had Jerry Bruckheimers name on it. Boy am I glad I was wrong.
I think it was one of the best Pirate movies ever. I hope the sequel does it justice. Not that I have any worries after that trailer. :D

Man, this is going to be one heck of a summer. POTC2, Superman Returns, James Bond, and X-men 3. And the best part is that tomorrow is my last day of school. :chew :chew :chew :chew

This is probably the summer movie I have been most looking forward to seeing. I am just a little nervous that they are going to be overdoing the CGI. I also wish the kraken was attacking at night and in a storm. Looks like clear skies and seas when it shows up. Not very atmospheric. But I'm sure that this will be a great movie and lots of fun, like the first.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to this and X-3( I know many aren't) those two are going to be exciting IMO.

Me too..I'am a sucked for comic/action flicks...I will see X-Men and probably love it(good or bad)...and as for Pirates 2, I think it will be one of the biggest and best movies of the year!

That would be cool, very "20,000 Leagues" style. Hell, it worked for the T-Rex.

I will certainly be seeing X3 and enjoying it for what it is, but my expectations are low based on all of the available info. The Bond teaser actually made it look better than what I had been expecting--but that won't be until November. And I keep totally forgetting about M:I:III... I will probably also forget about it immediately after watching it. (Probably while watching it, too). Cars looks to be the least of the Pixar films, tied with Bug's Life. I just have a feeling that the most satisfying film this summer will end up being "Pirates."
Until then... bring on Nacho Libre!

Has anyone seen the new Clerk 2 trailer. The movie looks too much like Waiting and it is in color. Cars looks pretty decent though.

The Clerks sequel didn't look so hot - but Kevin Smith is the President of my Academy of the Overrated, so I'm probably not the right audience. Thought the first Clerks was very funny though (the first time).

I'm so with you on that. Never understood his appeal. Maybe its his "he's one of us" appeal for the comics crowd.

I actually thought the Bond teaser looked good -- had the feel of old Bond. He doesn't look like a Bond, but he dresses like him.

Until then... bring on Nacho Libre!
And The DaVinci Code! I'm really looking forward to how they bring the book to the screen, what with all the twists and turns at the end. From the preview and teasers, it looks to be pretty well done. And the web site is AWESOME - if you go to the gallery part, the Flash animation knocks your socks off - you can go into the paintings to find symbols, and one painting dissolves into the next. Plus I'm addicted to the Google quest for it.

But yes, Pirates 2 is going to be the best movie of the summer, I have no doubt!!

The trailer for PotC2 is awesome. I'm a little wary of the overuse of the fantasy characters, but it looks like it will be as much or more fun than the original. Can't wait.
And thanks for reminding me about the DaV code contest, got to go catch up!

Yup, gotta go see the DaVinci Code as well. Never read the book but the theory behind it is interesting.

I recommend not getting caught up in any "theories" and just enjoying it for the adventure and mystery... it's a great story! :duff

I read somewhere that the Zizzle 12" figures were...well, to be polite, not so good. Anyone here confirm?
Also, does anyone know if Medicom is planning more 12" figures from POTC to go with their new Jack Sparrow?
From the trailer, Davy Jones looks awesome. I'd really like an accurate 12" figure of this character.

Yeah, I'm not. It's an interesting theory but one I find hard to believe for my own personal reasons. I will be going just to enjoy a good summer flick and a couple of hours of relaxation.

No, but I hope it isn't true. I don't think I'll shell out the cash for the Medicom figure since I have the 18 inch version from NECA...and also because I'll never get a Pirates a line (with other characters besides Jack).

The pics of them posted here looked pretty good for mass production toys. The Sparrow headsculpt is better than Medicom's ( big surpirse  ) Davy looked great, but could use some customikey paintwork. Will was actually one of the better likenesses of Bloom. I guess those are the prototypes though, so the final product could be different.

I actually read that the 12" figures were not so good on Michael's review of the Zizzle 3 3/4" POTC 2 figs. There's a quick mention of the 12" -- don't bother was the quote I believe.
I hope its just a subjective opinion.

From the pictures, and knowing the cost, I would say they're worthy of a purchase.
Unless the final versions have changed, that is. Are these supposed to be out in stores now?

I tried looking on ebay, and they aren't there. That means they aren't out yet  I think a body swap to a Sideshow body could make Sparrow really good. Dave is just stuck on that body though.

You'd have to find boots elsewhere as the boots on Zizzle are plastic and carry the ankle joint.
Michael's review of 3 3/4" figs: These are hitting Targets right now for around $7 each, and there are also playsets, larger figures (which are awful - don't even bother), dress up accessories, and other booty to be had.

Correct, but I still think it could be better than a Medicom one. The one thing Medicom can do decently is the costumes. Their sculpts are just aweful. Hasbro does better. I think making or finding some boots to use should be too hard to do. Hmmmm....

I think - and I could be wrong - there is another scale of Pirates figures (under 12 inch, but bigger than the basic figs)....at least, I want to say there is. I believe there were pictures taken of them at Toyfare.
Perhaps he meant those?

In an ideal world, I'd love to use the Medicom Sparrow outfit on the Zizzle "body". Face sculpt aside, the Medicom Sparrow looks fantastic.

Agreed, but I'd also have to add the hands. I've always liked Sideshow's hands and think most other companies are too cheap looking. If only Sideshow would get the license!

Yep, too true. Their hands are the best.
Maybe the best Sparrow then is SS body, Frontline head and Medicom clothing. That's one expensive custom.
