The "low quantity" counter is up! Scar is soon to sell out. The Aliens Marines are already sold out!
So is $130 a good price? Anyone get a better one?

Good price there but sold out. I really want a 14" Predator Scar. Must find, must find!
This is insane, too many 1/6th figures. I have like 12 on order, plus I got the JAWS maquette, plus I need Aliens Marines (all 3) plus I want Scar, maybe Batman... Medicom Jack Sparrow, and Ripley may be on the way with an Alien... serious finance drain. :google
PS: Sorry I missed your quiz on the Aliens thread.

Thanks to my overly generous wife, I have both, and I have to say that they are just AWESOME. The fact that I had to assemble them was icing on the cake(long time model builder). I even performed a bit of surgery to make them a bit taller; after all, they can't be shorter than Vader. Anyway, they are well worth getting. Fortunately, a lot of venders seem to have them. The challenge is getting the best price. Good luck to all in your search...PS

I just got my Ht Scar Predator and this thing is F'n AWESOME!!!!!This is my first HT and they make awesome stuff...It took about an hour to get him all put together and suited up...It really wasnt that hard to do, just a little time consuming.....The attention to detail is above any 1/6 figure I have ever seen.....The body itself if just awesome....I really cant say anything bad about this figure....I love every single thing about it....Hot Toys makes truly amazing pieces, I must get more from HT....

The pix make him look WAY out of porprtion, but once you have him in hand thats not the case at all...His armour fills out his body perfectly and looks great with the size of the head....also his dreads have wire in them so you can make them fit much closer to his head or have them really stick out...He will CRUSH Anakin Friday when I get him....

The sticking-out dreds really make the head appear too big, but positioning them closer in makes a huge difference.
I would say that if you have one Predator you don't really need the other though - just get the one that you think has a cooler mask, otherwise they're pretty much the same.

Yeah, I noticed the armor is almost identical, but I think little bits and pieces like the blades that come with Celtic Predator offer some variety, and once they offer the Elder predator (hopefully), it would be nice to have them as a trio. I really do hope that at some point they offer a "classic" Predator, though.
Now, when do the predators get some worthy adversaries with some good Aliens? The Marines need an enemy too! I was tempted to pick up a couple of McFarlane Alien 12" figures for the marines, but this was based on the first movie. Anybody have the McFarlane Grid Alien? I may get him to hang out with the Predators from AVP!:lol

What, no love for the Celtic's helmet? Love the design of the piece -- and wasn't the biggest fan of the first movie.
The Eldar is a must buy for me as well. But then I'll have to decide whether to get the Chopper Pred as well, since I'm getting Scar and Celtic.
Okay, I know it wasn't the best recieved movie, but I really dug Pred. 2. What's not to love? It was Robocop vs. Pred except instead of Robocop it was 1/2 of Lethal Weapon. So I'd want that Pred. and Danny Glover.
BTW, anyone order their's from Fireside? I keep checking their site to see when they're gonna ship but I keep getting a lot of nothing. I'm starting to empathise with Tom and his PF GG.:D

I actually really do like the Celtic helmet, but at $130 I had to make a choice and since I like the Scar better I went with that....
And I really like Predator 2....I like the idea of Predator running around in a kind of urban warfare deal.Pred. 1 & 2 are a couple of my favorite movies!

back in the 80s CGI wasnt as common as it is today. nowadays everything has CGI in it. and too many movies are using thinking it will make the movie 100 times better. i actually give Kudos to those movies that dont use CGI for everything and rely on the good old fashioned special FX.

No ****....really the list could go on and on..dont get me wrong, I do like CGI...I mean LOtR could have sucked big time without the aid of CGI...but thats all it was to LOtR....not the center piece...I was a great story, with great characters, great direction, great music...so the CGI was just an aid to put us fully in the land of Middle Earth...I wish more movies today would foucus on character development & great diolouge..Like Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, Seven, Usual Suspects, True Romance.....

Jurassic Park would be impossible without CGI. As would LotR, and a lot of other films. It's another tool that the filmmakers can use, it's true that some overuse it, but I think a lot of older films would be improved by using it. (Like the 80s Superman films, among others).

Jesus...
I just got home and found the SCAR PREDATOR on my doorstep!
This box is huge! Its crazy insane -- there's a slip cover, then a velcro flap, then two trays of amazingly detailed parts! Hell, even the bladed weapons look like real silver metal! And the face/head look a lot better in person.
This is THE MOST AWESOME FIGURE EVER!
The packaging is so cool I almost hate to build him. Almost. Actually, I'm a little daunted by the complexity...but this will be fun.
First...gotta pose those crazy dreads...all 40 of them!

A friend of mine told me it was his new favorite figure, but until tonight I didn't really know what that meant.
I'm so jealous, man!
I placed my order in Feb. with Fireside and as far as I can tell they've taken Memorial Day week off. They haven't answered my last two e-mails and their site still says the Preds haven't shipped. :monkey4

Wor-Gar

Yeah, its quite amazing.
I was up until 2am last night fitting that netting on his body -- its a bit tricky as the net body suit is really tight. I haven't even begun trying to put the armor on. Its going to be very delicate work.
Also, for those of you who have yet to get this, the weapons are ^^^^^in'. The slide mount on the canon really slides! The double-blades in the gauntlet extent further than you'd think and look like real silver metal! And even the calve armor is articulated at the ankle -- not that it is necessary but cool nonetheless. Even the two tiny tubes on the face mask are real metal wire. And the body is molded with texture and painted with real detail -- its almost ashamed that the armor covers up so much of his skin. Every time I take a piece out to look at it I discover a level of detail that is really unsurpassed. Surprisingly, well worth the price!
I highly advise anyone who likes Predator, or just likes highly detailed 1/6th figures in general, to get this piece. You won't be disappointed.

I love the Celtic's helmet, I'd love to buy both but right now I'm getting the one that's selling out the fastest. Hopefully I can get the Celtic at a later date.
Also, I've heard that the Celtic Predator's helmet design is actually from Predator 2. Watched the movie and one of them does appear to have that helmet at the end of the movie on the ship. But I would like Hot Toys to release the regular Predator from Pred. 2 (and the one from the first movie too).

Don't do yourself bodily harm just yet.
I've been having problems with Fireside shipping my Preds as well. I just got an e-mail saying that they are running very behind due to personal issues -- not very professional, if you ask me.
Anyway, if you're just trying to update your cc info you can do so by placing an update cc info item in your Fireside cart. Read about it in their FAQ. Otherwise, I'd try sending them another e-mail or two. Or three. They're very good at ignoring e-mails of late.
EDIT: still no shipping from Fireside @ 6/9/2006

Cool! I'm gonna have to check that out next time I watch Pred 2. It would figure that one of the coolest designs in that lame movie AvP movie came from the Predator 2 movie.
I, too, am hoping Hot Toys gets around to making some Pred 2 figures. I actually would like to see Danny Glover from that movie made to take on the Predater from it. I'd love to pose the "sword fight" from inside the ship with the one arm Predator vs. the blody Glover."

I then proceed to update my cc info as instructed and three days later still no word.

Same thing is happening to me! I'm really starting to lose my patiance. I e-mailed Friday asking what the deal is with the delay and asking for him to cover the shipping cost since he's not only failed to answer 75% of my e-mails, including one I sent months ago about how to update my cc info and one recently inquiring if there was some problem. So we'll see what this "Godfather" has to say for himself and if he makes things right or not. (If you ask me, him paying for shipping is the least he can do, all things considered. The very least.)
One thing I noticed is that not only do you have to put the cc update in your cart and check out you ALSO have to leave a detailed note or something in that order as well. A bit of fine print I may have overlooked back in May. Ugh... what an ordeal.

I did call last week a couple of times, to no avail, only got an answering machine. And calling all the way from Colombia, South America to just leave a message on an answering machine -during office hours- is kinda frustrating.
I'm sorry to hear about Bob's (I'm guessing he's the owner) family problems, but if he has tme to send a mail saying my cc is declined, I guess he could also send one saying the info has been updated and that I'm getting my preds...

Not very professional? The guy is having some major ****ing personal problems and he isn't being professional because you can't get your damn toys a week sooner!!   You know this is taking your love of ****ing toy collecting a little far when you start calling someone unprofessional because of a reason like this. Bob has always gone above and beyond for anyone on this board when the needed it. I know he has helped me get several pieces that where hard to find and done the same. Not to mention he has given good deals time and time again to board members. He simply is one of the classiest guys I have ever met in my whole life.
You know my grandmother always used to say, "What goes around comes around." So I hope neither you or abake ever has any kind of a problem that needs help. Especially if it keeps someone else from getting something so unimportant. Because I'm gonna make sure I remind you of the childish way you both are acting about a ****ING TOY!!!!!!
Bob you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. As I said above you are one of the nicest and classiest guys I know.
You should watch your mouth. I won't debase myself to reply to you in kind. But I will say that if you surround yourself with people as classy as you, your statement isn't worth very much. And neither is your grandmother's passive aggressive cliche.
Out of respect for Robert and his family I will not publicly clarify things, restate my arguement or point out ommited facts. But if you're going to post about things that don't concern you, praying for ill for some and good for others, escalating the confilct while devolving the discourse, I will point out that you are not helping anyone except yourself to feel better.
And I would thank you to take your schoolyard language back whence it came.

I want to thank Robert for explaining things openly if not privately. To all wanting to make abake and myself into bad guys you should realize that almost all of Robert's post was completely new information. And I'd like credit as I never went all Tomandshell and posted embarrasing or contradictory qoutes in my signature.

I need to watch my mouth? What are you my father? I'm not classy cause I went off on you for calling a friend unprofessional because he was taking care of personal business and couldn't get your toy out to you. So if you do stuff like that I'm gonna go off on ya.

They concern me when they involve my friends and when someone says something totally BS about them. I wished good for Bob and his family. I never wished anything bad for you. I just said that what goes around comes around. I'm just letting you know that if you want to go making false statements about my friends I'm gonna say something about such silly comments.
And I would thank you to take your schoolyard language back whence it came.
Well, I think that's the only thing you might understand. :lol

Well, then maybe you might wanna get all the info before making such a stupid ass comment like you did. Now, you gotta go taking shots at Tom? What kind of a BS is that?
