It took awhile, but the ^^^^ Tracy from last weeks newsletter gave me an idea. I would love to see Electric Tiki do the comic strip version of James Bond. Anyone else agree? For those that aren't familiar...here's a link to MI-6 info page on the Casino Royale.

I've been wondering why nobody has picked up the rights to make James Bond statues of any kind. Many, many bad licenses have been picked up and died quickly after one or two offerings. I would think Bond could do a bit better than that.

I'd certainly be willing to pick one up, if it came out like that Flash Gordon.

Some time ago, I've contacted Ian Fleming Publications http://www.ianflemingcentre.com , who of course holds the rights to the character outside of the films, and suggested producing a collectibles line based on the Bond characters as described in the books, as well as key scenes depicted in diorama format, ala McFarlane Toys. In fact, I even included a link to McFarlane's site for inspiration. Sadly, they never responded.

But imagine toy/sculpture depictions of larger than life characters like Red Grant, Dr. No or Blofeld dressed in Samurai armor, not in the least resembling how these characters looked in the Bonf flicks.

I think if they are made stylistically enough (considering the retro time period and fashions, etc.) with action captured dramatically, these have the potential to appeal to a lot of adult collectors just by the iconic concept behind Bond, the stories' cold-war setting, distinct "Britishness" (more so than the film series), etc. Look at what McFarlane did with Conan, which more resembles the art of the comic books and to some extent the descriptions straight from the original pulp series (so I'm told, since I haven't read them myself).

That would be awesome, let's hope that IFP's failure to respond wasn't a failure to listen and maybe at some point they'll take it into consideration.
