Deke, just a suggestion - instead of an all-white background, try using a two tone light grey and white combo like what you see on SS proto pics. I think the two tone makes the figure look great.....not that yours look awful.....they are great pics which could be enhanced with a better background colour.

I really like the movies, and I dig the armor. I also have a Predator/Terminator/Alien shelf. I need to unbox my Vito Corleone, DX Joker, Assassin's Creed Ezio, and Landa. Oh Perseus too. Yeah I bought a Perseus. Oh and Barney Ross. Too many figures. Not to mention the pile of SSC SW figs. Or Transformers, or Super Powers, Secret War, GI JOEs, and Kenner SW. And Kenner Indiana Jones figures and LJN TOD figures. That's about it. And some random oddities. Whew!

That goofy colored jet is a BotCon exclusive "Action Master" Thundercracker redeco homage, a nod to a 1990's European exclusive. And yeah all those Animated figures are Japanese releases/exclusives. I have more pictures to take. And yeah that is the Perfect Effect Scouting Force aka NOT Reflector. Pure awesomeness. Tell Mike about it, but I am sure he knows.

Great pics! Vader looks much better. Haven't pulled the trigger on Bly yet but he looks nice too.

If you have the other commanders, then I'd recommend him. His has just two small issues, the straps on the kama and the macrobinoculars not being able to up as high as they do in the film. They're minor nitpicks but considering how flawless Cody & Rex were I hold the clones to much higher standards. Your pedestal helps me take better pics too. :lol

How are those Prime figures, Nick? The Optimus from SDCC was pretty damn cool, transformation wise.

They're great! I don't have him pictured but Starscream is by far THE best deluxe figure within the last year. You and Gabe watch the show? It's pretty solid once you get past the first 10 episodes or so, I am sure Mike digs it.

How much water do you need to use to make your Cobra Viper look like that? I've never futzed before.

A least a liter. :lol I dunno, just make sure it's very warm water. Helps make the material more pliable. Good luck, and don't worry, it's not rocket science.

Deak Starkiller
12-30-2011, 09:19 PM
:lol Thanks man. Honestly I know it seems goofy, but the minimalist approach is kind of hard to do. Meaning to make them look a little more natural it still takes some effort. I prefer to give my figures realistic/scene specific poses. I went for the "I've been waiting for you Obi-Wan" scene in Star Wars where Vader is just sitting there about to tear it up.

Honestly? Off and on a week, probably like 10 hours total. But I am a little OCD with Lego, all of the studs are facing one way. AND I customized a the frame of the model a bit to support the weight. Also added a third stand, again to support the front of the ship.

So every single LEGO imprinted on the studs is facing the same way?! :thud:
That is a little OCD indeed. But it is also awesome! :rock :rock

10 hrs sounds like quite a build! The longest I ever spent on a Lego set was about 5-6 hrs on the Collector Scale X-Wing a number of years back :)

As best as I could, but for the most part yeah they're one way. And again I took a lot of time reworking the frame so the model wouldn't droop.

Music is good, IMO. I actually love all things 80s, so Rick James is A-OK in my book. Alison Krauss is the bomb. Nothing shameful about liking something great, Ben. Dan Tyminski (of Union Station) is also the man.

Didn't mean to derail Nick's thread this way, either. Honest.

I'm down with old school country and rockabilly... but the stuff from the 70's on is atrocious. And I'd agree with Deak; most new music is crap. Some good things here and there, but its become so overprocessed and commercialized its hard to take a lot of it seriously.

I was into some new music in the earlier 2000s. Some of the college rock stuff. But even that seems more derivative and lazy than usual nowadays. I'm sure there is good music being made out there today by new artists, but damn if I know where to find it.

And I agree about 70s country for the most part (putting aside Graham Parsons, Emmylou Harris, and the genuine country musicians established earlier who continued on through that decade). But I think of it this way--if not for ____ty country music in the '70s, there would be no Nashville (the movie)!
