I haven't purchased any of the Sideshow 1/6 military figures yet, sticking mostly to the sci-fi, fantasy and horror stuff and have always been happy with the quality of what I've gotten.

My dad is a huge toy soldier fan however, and has a pretty extensive collection of antique lead miniatures, ranging from all different wars, countries and soldiers. I was thinking about getting him the two Revolutionary war figures for father's day this year though, and I wanted to know if people like these figures. Any thoughts or reviews would be greatly appreciated.

I was also wondering if anyone had produced a 1/6 scottish soldier, like a blackwatch guard or anything!

Thanks in advance!

Umm do you mean besides Sideshows Black Watch? If so I haven't seen one beyond some customs.

The Revolutionary war figures are very nice, and surely worth getting.
For Napoleonics including a Scottish Blackwatch, aim for DiD (http://www.onlinedid.com/products/napoleonic/).

OSW (http://www.onesixthwarriors.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=137) is a good message board if you want to mingle and interogate the hardcore military 1/6 crowd.

I highly reccommend G. Washington. A stand out piece that no history enthusiast wouldn't love.

I'm glad that this had been posted. I have been very interested in the Fife and Drum Red coat and anxiously await replies. I can vouch for Custom Mikes reply regarding George Washington. He is an extraordinary figure and should be in every historian's collection with Abe Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant! :D

I am exceedingly happy with my Fife and Drum (revolutionary war) purchases.
The Washington figure is a work of art. Your dad will go nuts for these figures.
Buy Buy buy!

The Washington figure is a work of art.

I only just set up mine ,and boy, is it ever! We waited well over a year for this one, but he was actually worth it. Must buy.

A local store has a couple in stock, and I hope to swing by on monday after payday. Thanks to everyone for the advice, I think I am gonna try yo snag Washington and the two Revolutionary war soldiers for my dad, with the soldiers for father's day and the general for his birthday!

I think a Sharpe is needed..........It would be a "no-brain" sculpt given that we have 006 and a Boromir pending. That good old Yorkshire lad mr Bean needs more figures!!!!!

Have a look at the Modeller Loft site, we are half way there.
