This has come up a few times in the forums here. Do you ship edition numbers in the same order as you receive the original order? Example, the 20th order that was placed on a limited edition piece would receive piece #20 in that edition? Or is the distribution of edition numbers simply shipped out in random order? I ask because I ordered a piece the morning it became available for pre-order, and I would be extremely disappointed if I received a high number in the edition. Any light you can shed on this would be helpful.

Essentially, yes...

We generally start shipping to customers who buy from the website first, and usually start with the early numbers in the edition. We don't guarantee a low or high number, but since orders are usually fulfilled more or less... in order... well, you get the picture.

Hi Slimjim,

First time posting here. I have done business with SSC over the past several years and my experience with them is that it doesn't matter if you're the first or last to order a product, they ship it out as soon as they get it.
With regards to LOTR products, their hands are tied by WETA and the plant in China. One would assume that the first shipment would start with sequential orders, #1,etc. However that is not the case. I have ordered items only moments from being posted on the site and gotten middle edition numbers. The only guarentee that SideShow makes is that the earliest orders will be shipped first (low edition numbers are not guaranteed). It would be really thoughtful to us collectors if SideShow tried to match up early orders to low edition numbers, but I suppose that would involve holding shipments until all items arrive and only then shipping them out. This would require more warehouse space as well as more workers and it would mean you would get your item after an even LONGER delay. Personally, I have come to accept the way they do this and while it would be "icing on the cake" if I got a low number, I'm just thankful to get it as soon as possible from them. BTW, my wife order the "Gollum as Gollum" as soon as it was available on the site and she got #1082. I ordered one myself TWO WEEKS later and got #86! Sorry if I've belabored the point.

I am so thankful/sorry (financially) I discovered SideShow....they are 1st Class IMHO!
