Here's something new. The guys over at OSW are trying to figure out if this is a custom or a leaked prototype for the Hot Toys line. It was found on some Hong Kong thread...

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j306/Wor-Gar/Ripley-hottoys.jpg

The hands look like Vasquez, but those boots look pretty darn good for a custom. I hope its the real deal.

The sculpt's not bad either - it does look like a HT product, and I hope it is.

Oh.My.God.

I think that looks a lot like a HotToys product and might be the real deal!
Awesome.
I just hope this means we'll get a lot more Alien/Aliens figures from HotToys, especially the aliens themselves. Wow!
Thank you so much for the headsup!

I too hope this is an ACTUAL HT prototype...it looks AWESOME! I have the Hicks and Apone...still have to get the Vasquez, but would love that Ripley too! Hope they make a Hudson with this line, if this is the 1st look at the 2nd series!!! Man, if HT can make that HUGE ED-209 for their 1/6 Robocop line, I'd love for them to do a 1/6 Ripley in Power-Loader...Fully-posable...Man, that'd be like 18" tall and AMAZING!!!

Oh, some actual ALIENS would be AWESOME too...just look at how good HT made those Predator figures...

If that's a custom, someone did a heck of a job.

Unless the base was swiped from another product, it looks like a good indicator of a mass-produced item. Typically photos of custom figures I see don't include a matching/well-made figure stand.
Great, another figure to drool over and lose sleep to!:monkey5

Looks like a proto to me! The detailed weapon is the giveaway and it can ONLY mean Hot Toys!

Only thing a bit off for me is that is Ripley's suit and boots from Alien and her weapon from Aliens!

In Aliens, she wore a t-shirt, jacket and sneakers.

Wor-Gar
04-03-2006, 08:42 PM
Nope. In Alien, she wore an army green flight suit and high-top tennis shoes. In Aliens, she wore the light blue jumpsuit (yes, with a brown bomber over most of the time) until the end when she slipped out of the top half of the jumpsuit, wrapped it around her waist, and got ready to rock!

This "figure" is accurate to the Aliens wardrobe -- she even has the t-shirt under the jumpsuit so you can "wrap it around her waist" if you want.

What did I win?

I'm thinking the third act finale when she was lugging Knute around and blasting alien eggs to kingdom come. Could have sworn she had low-top sneaks, khaki pants and ok maybe it was the bomber jacket but I remember a brown jacket/ And don't make me fire up my LE J Cameron Director's cut DVD!!!

There were only two references to Rebecca's name in the original Aliens as I recall:

1) when Ripley first asked her name "Rebecca, but everybody calls me Newt"

2) And her school plaque in that mess of a hideaway which was the ONLY reference with her full name.

I'm still working on it but belive me, I got a ton of them, just like everyone else, from retro to modern

Here's a cool retro I'll toss out. You know how The Rocketeer has become the Medicom calling card for action figure detail and excellence?

Well, I was thinking someone should do the original Rocketman from the Republic Pictures Serials, Commando Cody, but my choice would be Larry Martin from "Zombies of the Stratosphere" with removeable hinged helmet, leather jacket with jet pack and controls and space-gun.

Again, NEVER DONE!

btw, what VERY famous sci-fi TV icon actor first appeared in THIS very same film. Anyone?

One of the Martians in "Zombies of the Stratosphere" was played by none other than Mr. Spock himself, Leonard Nimoy!

Although this was the final "Commando Cody" serial (There was Rocketman, Commando Cody and this) he was known in this serial as Larry Martin.

Newt MUST be represented and Casey too!!! Last shot, Newt and Ripley in sleep chamber.

What many DON'T know is in the Original Aliens rough cut/Director's cut,

Ripley had a daughter (who died in her sixties I think).

And in the original release of Aliens

Newt called Ripley "Mom" at a critical point in the final scene.

These two must stay together, all props to Carrie Henn, who had NO prior acting experience when Jim Cameron cast her.

I always thought the biggest error in Alien 3 was having no Newt. There was a kick butt comic line between the two films written by Mark Verheiden (who would go on and pen many memorable moments in Smallville and BSG) that featured a teenage Newt. I'll tell ya what, I like 3 and 4 for their own merrits but that comic was better than any of the films that followed it, IMHO.

[QUOTE=gdb]I always thought the biggest error in Alien 3 was having no Newt. QUOTE]

Agreed. There was no Alien 3 or the incredibly disasterous franchise-killing Joss Whedon scripted Aliens 4 "Alien Resurrection". Some say it wasn't his fault but it was his ridiculous premise and implausible storyline and in the end it was Joss Whedon who was credited with the Screenplay which means no other writers contributed enough to earn credit. I like Joss, he is a Legendary writer and Pop Culture icon but he completely blew it this time around.

There is only "Alien" and "Aliens" IMO

I say scrap the last two, just erase them from your memory and any box-set and start over from the end of Aliens. And yes, that means bring back Newt, just figure out some device, maybe an imaginary delusion where she never really died, maybe she was a clone or whatever, but she must return!

I agree there is only "Alien" and "Aliens". It WAS a total travesty to kill off Hicks and Newt after how amazing "Aliens" was. What a way to short change the fans. How many scripts did they go through to get to Alien three, (like 13)? In the end it was all about making the holiday release date.

I like Ripley from the first two movies, but I don't feel you really need Ripley in EVERY freaking Alien sequel. If you want to continue with her character, and hey, fans like seeing their heroes again, have her encounter something else or a different problem. (Well, too late now, unless they just ignored 3 & 4 like I do!). I used to think Ripley encountering a Predator instead would be wicked (back before there was a Alien/Predator concept).

Then for the "Alien" Franchise have a different hero in the sequels. Kurt Russell, Vin Diesel, all great substitutes. Just not Ripley AGAIN.

I don't know, I think it would've been difficult to make a sufficiently different movie of the third installment with Newt and Hicks in it.
I mean, Hicks was crippled and Newt was a hindrance for Ripley, you would've been left with a reprise of the last act of Aliens... the other option would be to make it at least a few months later (so that Hicks could recuparate), but then you'd have the problem of Carrie's ageing. Then you're left with the option of making it a few years down the line, but what do you have then? The happy family? Then how do you get them to run into aliens again? It just becomes too complicated IMHO.
And although I enjoyed the Darkhorse comics, I didn't really like the whole "alien religion" thing, or the explanation of the aliens and the space jockeys, it just gave away too much.

Sigourney was recently quoted as saying, and again I'm paraphrasing "Yes, Ridley and I have talked about an idea he had but I don't think anyone at the Studio wants to see a 55 yr old actress as an Action hero"

She also said "There is also the money issue"

Here's one way how to do another Aliens Film, and this is only my take so if anybody likes it (Studios, Writers, Producers) beware it can't be ripped off b/c it is now protected in this very blog, and with The Writers Guild, ha ha...

Ok, we start some 15-20 years after the end of Aliens

Carrie Henn returns as Newt, a Tactical Leader in the Colonial Marines, like her Mother before her. She is sent on a mission because another colony has disappeared. Her unit fights and wins the battle against the aliens but not the war. We learn she and a number of her unit have disappeared, then are traced to an unknown Alien Planet where a war of wars must be waged to rescue them and wipe out the pesky beasts.

This is your premise for a new Aliens film.

Are you listening Ridley and Fox?

And this is where Ripley comes in again, in one final "away game" battle on the Alien planet to save her "daughter" and wipe them out for good.

I like this set-up. Gives "Newt" a past, and a grudge against the creatures that murdered her real parents. Now, like Sarah Connor, she could be a bit of a killing machine herself.

Perhaps its this vengeful drive that puts at risk her own unit. And perhaps, to save them, she must choose between her revenge and her team.

This sounds too much like the premise of ALIENS (more or less).

I would like to see an all-out WAR, but it may get too big with too much CGI. Plus, like ALIENS, we need to see a new Alien. A new stage in development. Perhaps the KING ALIEN.

Or, if somehow this all ends up on Earth, maybe Aliens can mimick terrestrial animals (like those Kenner toys); you know, a Gorilla Alien, an Elephant Alien. Sounds silly at first but if it were done right it could be wild!

Sequels work best when they serve the original and therefore become "variations on the theme", or another chapter in the original story. This is what worked so well in the SW OT, it was the back and forth dynamics...

An all out War, Yes!

But I believe on The Alien Planet. There is nothing more challenging or frightening then going to the enemy's "turf" to confront them. And this worked well in SW ANH where the battle took place on enemy turf, the Death Star!

A new Alien, Hell Yes!

True -- "into the villain's domain" is always more thrilling.

Maybe they could make it allegorical to what's happening now...a war in a foreign world. Perhaps the "quick extermination" that is intended by Newt and her gung-ho team is far more problematic then it appeared.

A kind of "Black Hawk Down" meets "Alien".

Of course, the Grand-Daddy of all bug-hunt classics is "Them" which takes place on earth. This film alone has been ripped off so many times it's not even funny, even in Aliens, several times. One instance is the flame-throwing of the nest which "Them" brought to an art.

I loved "Them" when I was a kid. I thought it was the best of the "giant insect" films and as I got older I realized how sophisticated it was for its time (not necessarily the dialogue, but you know).

Plus, I love it when they use animatronic "monsters"...even today :D

Indeed, a Classic and paradigm for Sci-Fi films of this sub/genre

Lets not forget O'Bannions original Story and Screenplay for Alien was a complete *cough* ripoff*cough* ah, remake of another film which escapes me. A B&W B film where an alien becomes a stowaway in a spaceship.

Again, a variation on a theme done to an extraordinary level of brilliance. Thank you Ridley!

IT! The Monster from Space.

Damn, you should get on some game show, you'd clean up!

btw, I copied the pic you posted of the Ripley proto and when I opened the file it said "ripley hottoys". Should we read anything into that coz I'm pretty damn sure that is a Hot Toys prototype judging by the weapon detail, etc.

Also just won a rare TRU Exclusive Electronic 12" r2-d2 c-3po 2 pack on ebay mint in sealed box for $15! This is the one with talking light-up c-3po eyes and film-accurate light-up red-eye r2 to go with SSC Luke and Han! Yeah, baby!

Don't get excited. I saved that pic and renamed it "ripley - hot toys". You're just getting it from my photobucket account.

Very nice price on that R2-3PO two-pack. I think I paid like $40 when it came out. Those figures are by far the best representations of those characters -- especially with the added dirt and electronics. The voice function on 3PO is great. The light on R2 is not so good because its the wrong light but what the heck, its Hasbro. He still looks great with all his dirt.

I actually can't wait for the droids by Sideshow. I think they might surprise everyone with how cool they look. Most people are eager for villains and aliens and (darn I say it) more Jedi, but I'll bet when those two droids do come out people will suddenly remember how much they liked those clanky comic characters when they first saw the OT films as a kid.

I heard that. On my wish list, there would be 3PO from Ep. 1,2,4. Imagine what SS could do with an Ep. 1 3PO? That thing would be a work of art!

To be totally honest, Commander Cody would be at the top of the list, but the droids would be in the top 10. For full disclosure, though, Jar Jar would appear on the list somewhere, too.

There must-haves for the Hasbro collection. Incidently, its pretty easy to remove the voice chip from those figures so you could make your SS 3PO talk as well. Hell, for $15 I might get another for myself so I can do it.

OK, back to ALIENS...

There has been a buzz about the inevitable ALIEN creature from Hot Toys too. Something like their Predator I imagine. I had at one time considered buying the "transparent" Medicom Alien but I'm glad I didn't as a Hot Toys Alien would be sooooooooo much better. I can only hope its original ALIEN and not AVP Alien.

There's just something about that first Alien that I really like. Something about that slick, shiny head that is just so simple its terrifying. Maybe its my fear of eggplant.

A HT Alien 1 creature would be vedy interesting, I'm guessing b/c they are tossing out pieces from ALIENS that might be a cue they'll keep the line consistent. Keep in mind there were several variations of that bugger in the film too. What I WANT is a BOLD move from HT here and an excellent opportunity to follow up Ed 209. A HT Ripley to accompany a 24 inch Queen Alien would be insane.

Then, of course, a sixth scale power loader to go with it (as in ED 209 cool mechanical stuff)

As Apone said to Ripley when she revealed she had a class 2 license to operate that thing, which is an ingenious design in itself...

"Be my guest"

btw, I got very lucky with the TRU Exclusive 2 pack, these go for $40 Boxed easy, maybe 15-25 loose for both but if you are persistent you can get lucky too!

A power loader would be great...but as of yet, no 1/6th scale vehicles or machines have been produced by any company (aside from a few military vehicles). I assume its because once you get a license you tend to want to make the characters first. Maybe we'll get that stuff down the line as more and more people trade in 3 3/4 inch collecting habits for the 1/6th scale world.

But, as long as we're talking wishes...what about a KANE figure with an exploding chest...and a rubber CHESTBUSTER inside!

But ALIENS is more watchable.

The answer:
Peter Lamont, the amazing Production Designer on Aliens and the man who built the drop ship, wanted to do some WW2 nose-art on the Drop Ship. In keeping with the bug-hunt theme of the film he and Jim Cameron decided to paint an Eagle w/Machine Gun and combat boots blasting bugs as their nose-art symbol with the moniker "Bug Stompers" painted above the Eagle.

This became so popular Jim had crew jackets made with this as the emblem.

The actual inscription or quote written below the eagle read "We endanger species". Unfortunately this was NEVER actually seen in the film.

Which makes revealing the answer so much fun, right?!

BTW, I want one of those damn "Bug Stompers" crew jackets!

"Please let me know if you find out anything new. I, too, would kill for one of these! Definitely one of my all-time wants.

I know Sigourney Weaver used to be very reluctant to allow people to make toys based on her likeness. I think it had something to do with her dislike of guns, and she didn't want kids playing with her likeness with toy guns.

Didn't she allow Kenner/Hasbro to make a figure based on Alien Resurrection though? Maybe she has softened her stance in recent years...at least I hope so!

This figure looks like it came down with a case of the awesomes:sick , I really hope they produce it!

You are absolutely correct re: SW and guns, it is a big issue with her but she NEVER used her weapon against people in these films so maybe she will soften -- let's face it, she's practically retired anyway. I bet if her kids didn't have a problem with it, she may be cool with it.

BTW, a buddy of mine went to private school with her in Ct. when she was Karen Weaver(?) and they were on a ski trip hanging out in the lodge with other classmates watching TV. My buddy changed the channel and Karen slugged him in the face! LOL! So much for the gun thing!

I love the notion that an actor sure doesn't mind collecting a pay check for a movie in which he/she have to use a gun(s) but yet when it comes to toy figures of themselves they get all freaked out because they don't want their figure to come with a gun!

The Aliens DVD has some commentary by James Cameron, where he describes her reluctance to be part of a script that so heavily featured firearms. He recalls a story of how he took Sigourney to a firing range, and when he saw a smile spread on her face after firing an automatic weapon, said something along the lines of "Another liberal bites the dust!"

I guess she was actually asking them to rewrite the script for Aliens to remove guns. Note their absence in both Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection, at least carried by Ripley.

I think the Kenner toy actually comes with the flamethrower, not a gun, and maybe that is why she allowed it. If that is a fine enough distinction to make!:monkey1

That's funny. About a year ago, we had a bachelor party in Vegas for a friend (original, right?) and one of the events was to go out to a shooting range and fire guns. No one had done this before of course, and most of the group was very Liberal and kinda against it. However, as soon as we got there and the owner showed us what we'd be shooting -- a Desert Eagle and a machine gun -- we all became kids playing war again...and that same mad little smile came over each person as the shooting began. There was never enough bullets for anyone. Strange, the power of a gun. Must be from growing up with all those action heroes firing all those guns. Anyway, the big laugh was when I said: This is how they make Republicans.

There is truth in jest.

Hey lay off of Hollywood. Without them we'd be importing TV and movies like we do everything else in this country. Let's just agree that actors as a group aren't the smartest or most well ballanced people in the world. And, sure, maybe the same can be true about studio lackies. Oh, and managers tend to be short sighted sometimes, too. Ugh, and readers... I mean if they're so smart, they'd have sold their own screenplay already, you know what I mean?

But there are very few Studio Heads out here today who have any vision like the old Studio Bosses from the Golden Days. Most Hi-level Studio Execs are Lawyers and MBA-types, what does that tell you? And the Boards of these publicly traded Media companies are run by MBAs, Accountants and yes Lawyers.

The bottom line is quite simple:

The audience always has been and always will be King on judgment day (opening week)! I just wish Hollywood would start making movies audiences want to see instead of Movies they want audiences to see.

Unfortunately these things are still perceived as toys and many people don't want to encourage children to play with guns. Nick Cage and Steven Spielberg have also had issues with this in the past. Cage on his Dragon Windtalkers figure and Spielberg on the Capt. Miller GIJoe, which was never released because of this misconception about action figures as collectibles.

But let's not take this into a "people who hate guns are stupid" arena, okay?

Is anyone here familiar with the Japanese SEGA Alien 12" model snap-kit?

From pictures I've seen, it looks like the BEST represenation of the original ALIEN. But...I'd like to know how it is in person.

abake
04-12-2006, 11:32 AM
I haven't seen it in person, but from pics it looks pretty good. The issue for me is that it is basically a statue, and it is 12"... meaning not 1/6 scale. Mcfarlane's alien is still your best bet for a cool (albeit slightly inaccurate) 1/6 alien figure.

Wor-Gar
04-12-2006, 12:01 PM
Yeah, there are some really amazing pictures online of this piece (and even Michael Crawford includes a shot of it in his Alien review). It is a bit small, but it looks much more like the original Alien than the McF figure.

Anyway, just wondered if anyone had one. I'm still holding out for the inevitable ALIEN from Hot Toys. I'm hoping they'll do for it what they did for Predator (big head aside). I know some people who bought that Predator and its their favorite piece right now.

Yeah, I'm also waiting for HT to unveil their alien figure... I would love it if they made an alien from the first movie, but it probably should be either from Aliens or AvP...
McF's alien main problem is the undersized head, other than that, to the casual viewer, it is a pretty spot on representation. Us fan boy know better, of course!:D

If HotToys makes figures of the AvP aliens, they should look sweet! The CGI design is pretty nice actually, kinda sleek and predatory...

Must... have... Alien... figures!!!

Can't wait for Hicks, Apone, and Vasquez to ship. One of my all-time favorite figures is a 12" Alien figure made by Kenner, came out sometime in 1997. I've had this figure at various times on my desk at work, by my computer at home, in my living room, and in my gameroom. It's quite possibly the most "active" action figure I own! Right now it resides once again by my computer.

Can't wait for either SS or HT to unveil an Alien figure. I would dearly (and I mean DEARLY) love to get Cinemaquette's 1/3 scale Alien figure, but WHOOOSH, it's a lot of money. I'm not saying it's not worth it (does anyone here have this? It was due out end of 2005), but I can get several other figures for the same amount of money, and if SS and/or HT come out with something, whether 1/6 or 1/4 scale, I'll be able to get that AND some other stuff.

So its real!? Hard to tell if that table is far enough back to be 1/6th scale...but that marines looks like HT Hicks.

EDIT: Apparently they are Aliens Trading figures. But this must mean a 1/6th scale soon.

EXACTLY what I thought as soon as I saw this photo Wor-Gar. I believe the figures in the back of the ALIENS and MARINES are part of an upcoming Hot Toys 4" OR 5" SNAP KIT series of figures similar to their snap kit AVP figures. Interesting that the Ripley visible in the back is VERY similar to the image you posted of the 1/6 prototype (or is that custom?) Leads me to believe it's a DEFINITE 1/6 prototype Ripley now! I saw a ROBOCOP shot taken from the same photo-set on another board...Aside from the fact that Robo looks AWESOME...It also looks like DRAKE is back there with a Smart-Gun and eye-sight scope (missing his cap though I think!) Could a 1/6 Drake be not far behind? Hopefully with a Pvt. Hudson and Ripley as SERIES 2!!!

I only just noticed this. You know how on the HT stands theres the name plate, well it looks like on the Ripley pic that its infact been ripped off. Im thinking it was originally from one of the other Marines:monkey2
That makes we wonder if it IS real. I can only hope.

On a side not, the HT Supes and Batman look fantastic! FAR superior to Medicoms! Theyre proportioned far better and are far more impressive. Like the nameplates with these ones alot too:D

Here'a another angle on those 4" "snap kits"...

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j306/Wor-Gar/alienssnap.jpg

It definitely looks like a miniature version of the 1/6th fig I posted. So... maybe there is a 12" Ripley and HT is just her holding back while trying to cash in on the Superman hype right now (before the movie comes out and is bad).

Perhaps we'll hear more about Aliens Ripley this summer during the SDCC. Drake and Hudson too. Talk about a 20-year-old dream come true...and I don't mean Jessica Alba.

Wor-gar, the review from MWC was helpful in helping me decide whether or not to get these figures.

http://www.mwctoys.com/REVIEW_012006b.htm

I don't think the likenesses are spot on, especially with helmets off, but the gear they come with was the deciding factor. I ordered through Sideshow, so while not in hand, I hope the review helps.

Apone has a goatee beard, though, which kinda bugs me, as I don't recall that he had one in the film.

Any chance that there are alien/predator smilies?

05-02-2006, 05:43 PM
Thanks Seaward.

Yeah I saw that review way back. Been wanting the Aleins Marines for some time -- just a question of money and SW preorders. Now that there's a break...

I'll probably cave and get APONE. I'll have to swap out his head for one of Lonnie's sculpts. But you're right, the equipment is awesome. Just wonder if I really need Apone as the only different item he comes with is the flame-thrower...and Ripley will come with that when she's made.

Definitely will come with a flamethrower, wish someone would make a sixth scale Power Loader and a 16-18" Queen Alien!

Not sure how much yet. I think $10-$15 plus shipping plus $25 or so if you want it painted. Don't quote me though. Apparently, Lonnie is working on a whole slew of heads for HT replacement. He also has Hicks, with Vasquez on the way. On Vasquez, its the figure's arms that need to be bulkier. Maybe a "skin sleeve" would do the trick.

I definitely lean towards the first ALIEN alien...alien.

Seeing as they have the ALIENS license, I'm guessing they'll make the Cameron style soldier aliens. Unless they go with their AVP line, then we'll get that alien with the dice-and-slice head from the Predator's net.

The only thing with the Alien is...what "extras" can it come with. I mean, the marines have all sorts of cool armor and weapons as do the Predators, which justifies the price and the fact that they're "model kits". So what can they do with the Alien?

Maybe he'll come with a choice of heads...original "smooth top" alien, ornate soldier alien (Aliens) or the Grid Alien from AVP. That way you can "build your own" version.

I can wait. Like SS, at DSC you don't pay until the item is ready to ship, so it gives me time to ready my cash. You never know what's coming in life.

I would like to get my Vasquez now...but I'll wait until all three ship together I guess. Yeah, I emailed Lonnie about that and he confirmed that he has no painter available right now to do the work. However, Apone without Lonnie's Hero head just isn't Apone. He doesn't have a goatee. Must replace head.

I know a few guys who could do the work. Most charge around $25 or $30 but you also have to pay shipping back and forth. Hell, there's CustomMikey here too that does pretty good paint work. PM him and see what he charges. Maybe if we get ours done together we can get a corporate rate. :D

Best way to handle that is choose a painter, pay him to order and ship the heads to him. Pay paint fees and s/h when the job is done, at least we can have some custom apone heads before apone arrives.

Let's see who else wants an Apone head, I'll PM Mikey.

Hey Wor-Gar & pjam, Count me in on this 'corporate rate' for an Apone Hero Head repaint too please! Anyone thinking of getting the Hicks replacement head as well? Personally I don't think the HT Hicks head is too bad...a little generic, but at least it doesn't look like Wesley Snipes! I could be swayed to replace both while I'm replacing one...

:D

Cool, you're in. That's 3, P. I also could be swayed to get a Hicks head replacement...but maybe we should try the Apone head first and see if we all like the head and the paintjob first. Lonnie also mentioned that he has a Vasquez on the way and a few other marines coming. So if the price is right and we like the work, we can repeat this procedure.

Cool, I just Pm'd Mikey and asked for prices and referred him to this thread, so the more the merrier.

I also just spoke with Adam at DSC, he actually called me to answer my question and said that they will receive the HT Aliens in the first SSC wave.

Cool, lets hope Mikey wants to do it.

So is that a good thing -- the first SS wave? Not sure what all these waves mean.

Mean you'll get yours about a week after SSC gets theirs in and there is probably a second shipment coming some time later, figure weeks later.

For me, I already HAVE my figures! I've had them in hand since last October. Got them through a local retailer who imported them from overseas when they were first released. They look GREAT on the shelf, but Passenger 57's head HAS to go!!!

No way! Do you have any pix of the three? How cool are they? I only know one guy who has one, Hicks, and he says its great...except the sculpt.

We'll make it happen, I'll let you guys know when I hear back and we should also be looking for painters if it doesn't work out. At leat we KNOW where to get a custom apone, thanks to Wor-Gar.

btw, ordered Apone from AE, now have all 3. I think Adam @ DSC also confirmed Ripley and Drake are for real and said Ripley will sell out superfast so keep your finger on the trigger if/when she's announced @ SDCC.

Go to Michael Crawford, he has reviews on all three I think, with pics!

He definitely did Hicks and you can find it in his review archives but having trouble locating the others.

Yep, Ripley's a must! Adam's pretty cool so I know he'll contact me as soon as he hears anything. Knowing the way I spend way too much time surfing around for this stuff, I'll probably know before him though :rotfl

But yeah, she's gonna sell like crazy. Even people who don't want the marines will probably at least get Ripley...then they'll catch the bug and start trying to find these guys that we already have... muh-ha-ha-ha!

EDIT: Michael only has the Hicks review...which I've read like 4 times.

that's so funny you said that, coz Adam said the same thing.

Crawford reviewd Hicks with pics, I don't mind the sculpt.

Yeah, they're AMAZING! You will NOT be disappointed with the gear/accessories. The detail is STUNNING and the armour and weapons are very slightly weathered too! Took me about an hour or so to put each figure together, which is what they mean by 'model kit' I guess...all those TINY buckles and snaps to fasten together! LOL!

The Hicks head doesn't bother me too much. Looks pretty good with the helmet on IMO...but as I said, it's a little generic. The Apone head REALLY does look like Snipes though...especially with the goatee...He should only have a moustache! Good thing Lonnie has these alternate sculpts to use as replacements...Let's face it, his cigar-chewin' Apone sculpt looks 'Absolutely BAD-A$$!!!' hehe. :lol

P.S., I paid $105 for each of my figures. No tax, no shipping. $20 more than the SS cost, but to have them nearly a year before SS has them, and with no shipping cost, I suppose it was worth it!

Absolutely worth it. Please post pix if you have any. I need something new to gander at.

And yeah, the Lonnie sculpt of Apone with that cigar is just perfect. Gotta have it!

As far as getting this done, I think Pjam's right, we should have Frontline ship all the heads at once directly to the painter (whoever it is) to cut down on costs. We should also place one order then, which might be awkward on how we get all our money together but I'm sure we can figure it out. Maybe it will work out where one guy pays for the heads and shipping, one guy pays first half for the painting and the third pays for the last half of the painting. Something like this maybe, whatever works out...depending on how many people we get onboard this Apone train!

Yeah that sounds like a great idea...Could we use something like Paypal to each pay our share? Or I guess just the good old-fashioned cash/M.O. directly to the painter could work too. If I'm not mistaken, Lonnie only accepts $$$ and M.O. I seem to remember that from when I got m
