Hi, I was just wondering if this 'problem' is recognized by SSW, and will the remaining statues shipped be 'fixed'?

Just to recap, the problem is a widely reported problem regarding sloppy paint on Theoden's armor, especially the gold areas.

Thanks.

Yes, the problem is well known. A small portion (but not small enough) of the Theoden statues are admittedly poorly painted. We are accepting returns for refund or replacement, and I can guarantee the replacements will be of better quality (why - because that's what I do at Sideshow).

Your humble servant,

Brant

That is awesome Brant, this is why sideshow is the best. I don't have one in need of replacement but I have one on backorder- now I can rest assured it will be top notch! Thanks!

hey brant,
i recieved this message

"Sorry to hear about the bad paint job. This particular item is a limited, numbered edition and is sold out. We can replace with an un-numbered piece; however those will not be available for shipment until June, 2004.

Please advise what number your piece is and if you desire a replacement or credit. Upon receipt of this information, we shall issue an RMA/call tags for this item.

Thank you for your patience in this matter."
this is cool, but why wouldnt i be able to keep my number?the number is only on the base and i dont have a problem with the base.is it possible that i could return the theoden and keep my base?i payed for a limited edition of 2000 theoden not some unnumbered one.
if not ok,but it doesnt hurt to ask.

Mitth: where did you get this reply from? A sideshow customer service rep?

Anyway it kinda contradicts itself, first it states "We can replace with an un-numbered piece"- meaning that ok, if you want a new one, we'll send you an unnumbered one.

Then it states right after, "Please advise what number your piece is and if you desire a replacement or credit"- it seems to me this is asking for your current edition number so they can prepare to replace it for the same one.

Hmmmm well Brant any Insight. Will the number of your replacement be the same as the one we already have? If you wish a new one, how do you go about it. Thank You so very much.

Thanks to this forum, I noticed that I also was one of the unfortunates that got a botched paint job on Theoden's armour. I just got off the phone with Mike (Super nice rep) and I will get mine replaced as well.

Now for the Good Stuff:

There were SO many statues with the paint problem that there is another production run. They expect them in the next ninety days (maybe sooner). June at the latest.

You will get your exact number back on the replacement...not an unnumbered one as feared above.
They are doing the same thing with the Treebeard Bust which I have already shipped back to them. Since my King Theoden Staue is #36/2000 it was important that I also not get an unnumbered statue.

So rest easy fellow WETAholics, Mike assured me that SS will make us happy!

Thanks again to Mike & ALL sideshow's staff for superior service.

I still need to know how I go about getting a replacement Theoden with better paint job?

Hi Honestyspolicy,

If you ordered your statue from SideShow, just call them up ( 800-474-3746) and tell them you need it replaced. They will transfer you to a person who will ask for your edition number and give you a RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number so you can ship it back. They will also tell you when UPS will come to pick it up.

If you bought it from another retailer or off eBay, you have to deal with them directly. Sometimes they help & sometimes not and you're stuck. Hope that's not the case with you. That's my only incentive for buying directly from SS when possible. It may cost more, but I know they will always do me right. Hope this answers your question.

Regards......menelvagor
