View Full Version : Can you make the shipping boxes bigger?

I received my Luke and have not yet taken him out of the box, but he looks AWSOME in person.

My only issue: The packing box is so tight in relation to the actual Jedi box, that he arrive to me slightly dinged up - the main flap has a pretty noticeable indentation in it cause by the shipping - I left a message with Sideshow about it, and I will be very curious as to their handling of this - I really do not want to send him back as he is awsome, but I'll let you all know how this is resolved. If that is it, I am not too upset, but I left a message and told them they should make the shipping boxes bigger and include better insulation for the inner contents.

Considering that much effort went into the look and design of Jedi Luke, it is a shame that it arrived in 'Near Mint to Very Fine' condition as opposed to 'MINT'

What can I do? Any options for me or is that it? If so, I am not upset, just a tad disappointed.

If this is not VIP level questions, I highly apologize to all here, including Sideshow

You may or may not know the rigorous testing Sideshow do with the boxes. Many aspects are looked at and standards have to be met. It is not merely as simple as making the boxes bigger.

The real fault lies with the shipping courier or postal service delivery system. That is where your complaint should be lodged. That you are unhappy at the treatment of your parcel in transit.

It is good that you have let Sideshow know of your experience. It may prompt them to provide a printing service to the customer, whereby you can order copies of the packaging you are particularly interested in. That service isn't provided yet. Things develop at their own pace depending on demand from the consumer. Until then, they do what they can. In your case, maybe they can find another box that can be sent out at your expense, seeing as it would be done at your request.

Interesting info on the boxes. I have contacted Sideshow via their phones - I have not yet been contacted, but I would be thrilled with an empty box shipped or the like. Thanks for the info

Don't get overjoyed just yet, wait till you have received a reply. I don't mean to give you false hope. Just wanted to show you there are steps you can option. I would be surprised if you were able to obtain a box, but if you dont ask. You don't really know.

Very true. I am only hoping that they take my personal concerns and what happened to my box, to heart.

Thanks for all your info, I appreciate it. I'll let all know what happens, one way or another!

Well, Sideshow asked fans' to post comments on their site regarding the Jedi Luke - I posted that I love the item, but meantioned the shipping box issues. Sideshow decided to edit all of that out, which I kinda don't like. I am not bothered by it since it is their site and absolute right to do it, but I am kinda grumpy about it.

I have not yet heard any Sideshow response when I called Fri (with Transaction number). I hope to receive a call this week.

Hi AmanaMatt,

When we encounter customer service related issues in comments, we forward those comments to our customer service department so they can be dealt with quickly. The second part of your comment addressed how your box had arrived damaged and you had left a phone message about it. Our standard policy is we forward these to our customer service department so they can deal with them quickly.

I removed that portion of your comment, because I assumed you were simply looking for a response from our customer service department. Also, in these cases, we usually email the person to tell them the comment was edited. In your case, you didn't leave an email address with the comment.

If you would like to repost your complaint about the box, please do. We have already approved other comments in the same thread that addressed the box arriving damaged issue.

Chris,

Thanks for the message. I hope this is not being taken as a disgruntled customer, cause as a whole, I think Sideshow is awsome. I had read over the comments quickly, so I do understand the edit - which is Sideshow's right anyway from my POV. I personally hate seeing a lot of the same posts, so I will not repost. What I said about jedi luke being awsome is totally true. Thanks for the offer to repost, though.

Can you comment on the whole shipping box issue - others have posted that Sideshow does regular testing, but from what I see, the only issue is that it is pretty small (in comparison). Just curious on the 'official' stance.

Thanks.
Matt

TELL ME ABOUT IT!!!!!!! :monkey2 The same thing happened to mine and called them and they haven't called me yet. I was really happy when I received it but the box flap has more creases than my grandma.

hard to tell because of the shine but the crease is from the word Order of Jedi to the knees of Luke.

Many collectors collect because of the figure but i like to collect the figure and the box it came with. Call me old school. Hope SS can help me out.

To all that have this issue, I spoke to a really nice Sideshow rep just now - explained to her my issue and that I had called last Fri with item number and all of that - she apologized that I had not received a call (her attitude really makes me feel good as a customer, personally), and said she would look into this issue and that I was not the only customer that had called - and would call me back latest tomorrow.

As for last Friday not getting a callback, I am just putting that down as 'life happens' - no biggie

Remember, they are in the middle of a move and announced that the customer service lines would be down Thursday and Friday of last week.

I called them on Monday and said they were all out for lunch. So I left some lady named Amy, I think, a message to call me back but never did.

Did they say what they will do about the problem???? :monkey2

She told me they would look into the options of what to do, and then call me today

Update: I rec a call this morning from Aimee, who was extremely nice to deal with. She told me since my box was damaged (and I was honest, it was just the box - I am not trying to score extra accessories or the like!) - they will ship me a new box - they are arriving early April.

Ok, I am a super happy camper with the handling of this issue - she totally acknowleged the concern with these since they are highly collectible.

Thank you Sideshow.

Well, just an update for those of you (like myself) that received damaged Jedi Luke boxes.....I received my replacement from Aimee at SS today and it arrived in great shape.

It comes flat, so be very careful in folding together. At first, the box was fighting me in folding properly and was afraid of damaging this one, but it worked out great. I truly have a mint Jedi Luke box (as I had the exclusive version, the sticker came with it, though I had to peel it off and put it on the box, which was cool).

Aside from the little orange sticker on the bottom of my original box, it is identical.

Thanks to SS for being cool in replacing the box!

It's good to know that SSC has a heart for those collectors that like perfect boxes. Since I myself like to keep the 12" figures in their box, this is very good news to me. This shows once again that SSC goes through a lot to satisfy their customers. I still hope that my Luke (and all other items I've ordered) arrives in an undamaged box though!

I hope so too, as it is a real nice box. SS is very Customer Service friendly. I actually called them over an issue with my PF Obi Wan lightsaber and they are being cool about that too. These issues do seem rare.

yeah. hopefully to save them the problem they should really make the box a bit bigger. Also, for me the exclusive sticker was afixed already. At least you had a choise wheter to make it an exclusive or not. :D

At first I thought they just sent me the reg box, then I noticed the Exclusive sticker still in the shipping box - I just placed it exactly where the old one was. Pretty cool.
