Just wondering how/where do you at SS get the ideas for the figures that you come out with. I'm a huge fan of your LOTR line and was just curious how you decide, for example how the Fell Beast will look. How many different versions do you draw up, how many do you actually prototype, etc...
Also do you ever take ideas from SS fans?

All the ideas for Sideshow product come from Andy Bergholtz, industry artisan and SUPER GENIUS! Except all the bad ideas, which usually come from Brock.:p
Actually, this is a great question. There is a very talented creative team at Sideshow that is responsible for the concept, design, and manufacture of Sideshow's product. I'll let Brant tackle this in more detail when he gets a chance. I can speak on everyone's behalf though and say thanks for the kind words!

Im sure developing the sculpt always goes through rounds and rounds of critique sessions within the studio.
Great job! :toast

Sideshow definitely have a fantastic design and production team; there's a wealth of product that demonstrates this.
But I'm curious to know how the LOTR process works. Do PJ and Taylor have more of a say than we would occur with the other lines?
The WETA line definitely is a unique case, from what I can tell, when you're talking about the amount involvement from people involved with the franchise.

LOTR wise...
Yes, Richard has a tremendous amount of involvement - this is really his fanboy baby. PJ has a peripheral involvement, but it's really Richard's WETA group and our development group that pitch ideas back and forth. Once agreed, Richard and Daniel Falconer will usually collaborate on a sculptor to work out the best pose & design, and then share with Sideshow. Then the artist is off and running with it!

Cool, thanks for the information.
All I can say is keep doing what you're doing, because it seems both fans and the companies involved are onto a winner ;) .
Can't wait to see the photos of Eowyn, Baby-rog and Sauron :D .
