how to shoot figs with a digital camera

i am wanting to take well lit shots of my custom figs with a black back ground how should i do it? im using a sony digital camera.
 
Step 1: Get black background
Step 2: Get digital camera
Step 3: Get figure
Step 4: Place figure in front of black background
Step 5: Point camera at figure
Step 6: Take picture

You don't need a lot of light.

1) Never ever use the flash on your camera
2) Purchase a tripod - This is an absolute MUST
3) Use a 2 to 4 second timer even on the tripod to minimize shake
4) Learn to use the exposure compensation on your camera - You can take pictures in almost any light if you learn to adjust for it. I actually suggest using less light than more.
5) Learn to use the white balance setting on your camera. You need to adjust the setting based on the light available (Daylight, Cloudy, Incandescent, Flourescent, etc
6) For shooting small figures and statues, MACRO Mode will give you a sharper photo.
