I normally don't do a long intro with lots of background on a figure I'm reviewing. I assume that if you're looking for Family Guy toys, you know who Stewie Griffin is. But tonight's review is an exception. From the Corps of Discovery series by the Manitou Free Traders comes the 12" figure of Pierre Toussaint Charbonneau. Who? Exactly.

I give you some background on this character, along with a healthy review of this interesting sixth scale figure. If you're a fan of historical characters, and can stomach a hefty price tag, this is an interesting line. You can find all the reviews at the usual:

It may be historically accurate, but that is one unfortunate face sculpt. I'm all for these types of figures - but we're getting pretty obscure here. I can see Lewis, maybe Clark - definitely Sacajawea, but this guy? :monkey1

Gents,

This is one for the North American market. I suspect that a few may make it over to this side of the pond because he will make a fine base for some of the 'kit bashers' out there.
I've had to go 'surfing' to establish who he was.

What I told you in the review wasn't enough to establish who he was?

Yep, he's pretty obscure - but if you're doing a whole line on the Lewis and Clark expedition, you're going to get obscure pretty fast. If you'll notice in the review, I mentioned that they are doing Seahawk, their dog.

What you really have here is a fur trader/trapper/scout looking kind of figure, that just happens to be based on an actual person. I doubt too many people will be buying it because it's Charbonneau.

I have one of the Lewis figures, and a more generic deluxe fur trader, both of which I like better than this guy. Those reviews will be coming as well eventually.
