awesome so this pred will be like 14inches.

All the other Preds are 14 inches too. The only one that isn't is P1. He was only like 13 inches. And because Gort (Guardian) uses the same body as P1 he'll most likely be short (13 inches) as well.

I don't remember him being that much bigger in the movie.

I recall the Berserker being much bigger than the classic pred, but the classic was too small in this film. He towered over Arnold in the first film, but was only about a foot taller that Brody in this. Actually, the Hot Toys classic Pred would be perfect scale for the one in Predators.

uh shouldn't this guy be at least 15 inches to be "realistic and accurate 1/6 scale"?

Depends. For KPH (P1/P2/Elder) and Ian Whyte (Scar/Chopper/Celtic/Wolf) 15 inches would be accurate. That would be equal to 7'5". KPH was 7'2" without the costume. Whyte is 7'1" without the costume.

These new preds though.. in reality they're actually pretty short. The tallest actor in Predators is 6'7".

So if these new preds are supposed to be bigger than the Stan Winston preds (which should be 15" to be accurate) then these should be like 16 or 17 inches tall. And even if you use the current HT scale of 14" then these should still be like 15 or 16 inches tall. :lol

Articulation looks pretty limited.

I was surprised no one said anything about that TBH. Maybe no one has noticed yet but it doesn't look like there's any ankle articulation. Because the "boots" look like a single, solid piece.

Yeah I was just about to mention that. Unless the boots are a soft silicon or rubber material like the boots on HT's Goemon or Batman figures, ankle articulation is pretty much non-existent. That's more a fault of the design than HT's doing though.

This might be the deepest stance you'll get this figure in, and even in this pose, his feet aren't even flat on the ground.

I don't get the people that are complaining about the size issue. Yes, HT made the P1's neck too short. But in the end, the new Predators are supposed to dwarf the P1 anyway! Duh, they said so in the movie. These are bigger, taller, and stronger. I think that comparison pic that's been posted dozens of times shows that perfectly. Why else would they say "realistic and accurate 1/6 scale"? It's a selling point showing that they've stuck to the movie material on this one's size, not a photo to turn you off a previous release.

The only downside to this guy (besides the head size, but that can slide for me) is that he's not coming out sooner. That and the lack of ankle articulation (for obvious reasons, though).

Um.. huh!?

You do realize that ALL the other Preds from HT are 14 inches too, right? The only one that isn't is P1. He's like 13 inches. And because Gort (Guardian) uses the same body as P1 he'll most likely be that short (13 inches) as well.

If you use the current HT scale of 14" then these "Super Preds" should be like 15 or 16 inches tall. Not 14" like the previous Preds (which is inaccurate as well since they should be 15" tall).

That doesn't confirm anything. They called it "classic"just for clarification and convenience. The actuel term HT markted the P1 as was "The Predator" but they cant call it that in this ad cos the Bezerker is also a "Predator".

I agree the figure looks much better than what we saw in the movie.
I think the makers of the film agree, as they basically tried to edit the full face reveal to really quick, blink and you miss him, cuts.

The predators in the new movie didnt look that big to me, KPH's predator still looks massive because he was genuinely big, but the ones in predators look a little stubby and can't really believe they are bigger than the classic pred.

I guess this is where I have to admit that I can't possibly be a diehard Pred fan because, aside from the differences in color scheme (could be lighting. Grain of salt) And the fact that it's an expensive movie prop, I can't see that much of a difference between the film still close up in Devil's mod and HT's sculpt. :lol

I'm looking at this shot to compare. Pretty much the same angle, but mirrored.

Not necessarily. That whole "Classic" title is just to distinguish the original Stan Winston designed Predator from the newly designed ones in the movie. I saw a couple other places use the same term in the same context (comparing pics of the new Preds with pics of P1 from the original movie).

I don't doubt that HT might re-release P1 with the "Classic" title to cash in on this flick. But man, that's gonna be a tough sell. Because that "Classic" Pred has even less accessories than P1. No bone trophies (necklace/bandolier) and no left arm armor (with the hose that connects to the left gauntlet). And the damage to the Bio is minimal.

A few people were discussing possible color schemes for Falconer and Tracker and how HT might handle their faces (since you don't see them in the movie).

I think the faces will look exactly the same as this figure, and the color schemes will resemble the body colors. For example:

http://www.sideshowcollectors.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=9228

And that's based on the color scheme found on their bodies (like Berserker). Colors might not be 100% accurate but you get the point. :wave

-One (1) pair of relaxed palms

2/ The elbow joints have a decent range of movement ( about 100 degrees)... but the knee joints..sucks :(

Judging by Ebay prices, there still seems to be a market out there! Not too bad when you bear in mind that it would be a zero-development piece. It'd be interesting to see how it was packed if it did get rereleased... would they leave in the P1-specific items to appeal to a wider market?

It's missing a different hand for his left arm. It just comes with a closed left hand. However, this figure pretty awesome.

Predator 1 is short, but this is most definately the tallest Predator yet.

EDIT: Bigger pic. It's also a bit tricky to estimate the correct size because the Classic Pred is in a different pose then P1, but I think the size comparison with Elder is fairly accurate.

P1 isn't correctly in scale with Dutch and if the T-800 is accurately scaled then he is standing at the same height as the P1 and that's just completely wrong. Hot Toys humped the bunk on P1 plain and simple.

Out of scale is never good, but I don't mind the difference in height of the predators too much. I mean, why should all predators have the same size anyway? They are not clones.
I have to say though, that when P1 is placed next to Dutch, he is too short. :o

Ok guys, lets talk about the official HK prices:

- Retail price: HKD $1280 = 164.639 USD
- Preorder price: HKD $1250
- VIP Price: HKD $1152

(From Toyworld forum)

However the US retail price for SIDESHOW will be higher... as always
My bet: 179,99 USD :wink1:

my local dealers are selling these for $175USD.

'Bout time we get a more accurately scaled Pred. The funny thing is the actors in the costumes in the new movie are shorter than the previous actors. The new guys range from 6'5" to 6'7˝" and the previous Preds were guys standing well over 7' tall.

I think the three new predators are the same species, so they're probably the same height. The other predator is the same species as "classic" predator and will probably be the same size as that one, if it's made.

I have to be honest - I actually think the hot toys beserker predator looks better than the one in the movie.

Especially with his mask off. I thought the one in the movie looked really dumb with how far out his lower mandibles out-stretched. It just seemed a little ridiculous and reminded me of the crazy zombies in resident evil or the vampire mutants in Blade 2.

My only problems(They have been mentioned all before but listen to mine, thanks):
-Small ass dreads, I like em with long flowing hair.
-Head is the size of P1's, Classic's excuse me.
-I see no "relaxed palms"
-Bio is wrong, come on HT you had it right the first time but ____ed

-Mandibles look normal, sounds odd I know, but the mandibles are supposed to be overly large and stupid looking.

I don't want a flame war, but the incessant tweaser-picking, retentive Freaks constantly use this strawman argument of justification for their overcritical BS. There's constructive critique and then there's blatant douchbaggery. It's a fine line that's crossed several times without fail here time and again by entitlement collectors.
