I actually like the designs as well...as someone that is invloved with graphics/imagery, I understand that those pics are not indicative of what will be shown on screen. Even then, I still like the designs. Especially the "Mr. Black" and "Falconer" bios.

I've not been following this movie much as is, that is the only picture I have seen of the new Predators which it doesn't live up to the first it's a pretty cool design. Does anyone think the angular jaw of the mask makes it look a bit like Shunt from the British version of Robot Wars?

I'm the same on the falconer bio, at first I thought it was the worst but the more I look at it I'm liking it as much as Mr. Black's. I think this movie will work and I'm excited about the look and feel I'm been getting so far from it so I'm staying positive that this will be a good movie. I'm interested to see how the classic pred's bio get smashed up or if they show that. I know a lot has been leaked so far but I'm hoping there are some suprises and twists along the way and I'm interested in Morpheus's role and what happens to him. Other than some pics not much has been said about him.

I'll hold off any judgment on the "new" Preds until after I see the movie. But I am REALLY liking the Falconer design, so I hope that he (and the movie) dont stink.

As far as the "spider-look" for Black, he is only one character out of FOUR, so I think all the hate is unwarranted. The "Classic" one looks just like a P1, and we have yet to see the other 2, so its not like "OMFGZ! Theyz ruind da Predatrz lukz!" like some people seem to be panicing. :panic: :cuckoo:

That photo actually shows how cool the new head can look with the proper lighting. I think too many people are chicken-littling this thing to all hell, so much so, that (much like Terminator: Salvation) it's almost to the point where they'll go in feeling obligated to hate it from the start.

I actually don't mind the new Predators.. when they have their Bios on. I also don't care that they have no netting (might be because I like the Preds Narin does which are also without netting usually).

The only thing I dislike is the fruity colors and certain design elements of the actual face.

That spider-ish shot is the only one I've seen that I don't quite get. It's not too bad the more I look at it, but it's the only shot that really doesn't look as good as it could.

All of the other shots, especially this one (below) are looking better and better, though.

the P1 and P2 are some of the better looking Alien monsters ever created. Its the coloring and pattern design that give them so much appeal. Mr. Black is just flat out ugly :lol

As long as their body proportions aren't bodybuilder esque like AVP. I love any design for predators, just please still have that tactfulness feel P1 and P2 did.

For what the opinion of a 'newbie/noob etc' is worth, I am cautiously optimistic about the new Predators. Masked, I, personally can find little to fault them-however, if handled badly, the red tips on 'Mr. Blacks' dreadlocks could look awful, but on the other hand might work very well. As for unmasked-first impressions were pretty dismal, but I suppose (and hope) that the film will pull it off. Certainly, the images from the side and in decent lighting (example attached for anyone (admittedly unlikely) who has not seen said) look far more promising.

In my books the explination for varied apperance:

Predator I and Predator II = Same clan

AVP and AVP-R = Same clan

Predators = New clan + Messed up genetics

It is too bad that the movie doesn't have something like the end of Predator 2 with the "lost hunters".

It would be great to see a number of "traditional" predators with interesting masks, bare faces, weapons, and body armor. I would imagine that would make many fans happier with the movie.

No , I actually think it would be close to impossible for this movie to be any worse the avp-r and to a degree even avp.
AVP-R was let down everywhere apart from the design of wolf and the guy who played him imo.
A decent team and a set of good actors on this so surely it can't be as terrible as that.

i hated the predators in the first avp, they looked to me more like armor clad knights rather than a unknown race of ALIEN hunters from space. i absolutly hated the heads as well. this movie looks like its not having anything to do with that concept, so i have higher hopes for it.

the early pics i saw of the predators (hopefully youve all seen these by now. 2annorexic, 1fat, and all unarmored except for masks) looked real week. but as time went on the sneek pics of the pred with the jaw attached to its mask, looked like they might be onto some cool new designs. but then again who knows, it's not out yet!

Comedy would mean that your posts were funny. I found them more annoying than anything else, as have most of the others trying to carry on a conversation with your trolling images and underwhelming attempts at humor. Word to the wise. If you're the only one laughing at your own jokes, they're either so absurdly cerebral that only members of MENSA can understand them, or they're not funny. As someone who's scored high enough on the test to join, I can say I honestly don't see the humor in them, which suggests the latter. :huh

Personally, I like the designs. They show, as I've mentioned, that not all individuals in the species are completely identical. Since the original Predator is in the film, I believe
that displays the intended difference. I think the physical differences represent the other differences in this clan, like their hunting styles, reasons for bringing the humans to the planet.

Personally I think AVP1 had more potential to succeed, had it had better designs and a little better story on the predators side (predators giving a tougher fight against the aliens and not teaming up with humans :slap), I think it would've done pretty good.

I don't favor design by execution, so this could be the greatest movie ever and I'd still not care for the new face design on Mr Black. Buying products however, that's a combination of liking the design and the execution of the character. For me, its not the fact that they are new designs, they just look ugly!
They don't feel like organically real creatures, they feel like b-movie monsters. Stan Winston's original design felt like a living breathing creature both familiar and alien all at once. These look like over worked masks, at least to me. They lack the confidence and simplicity of the original.

New designs can work, take Aliens for example. Simplified Warriors and an incredible queen, but they enhanced what worked visually with the original and expanded on it, even Alien3 did the same.

These however look like they were created by someone who didin't understand why the originals worked so well. And then airbrushed to death with too much detail. They just don't feel like real organisms. IMHO. Don't shoot me!:wink1:

Not really, no matter what the rationalization for Mr Black's design or the execution of it, I will still find it ugly. I don't find the P1 Predator design cool because of an explanation, I just look at it and like what I see.

Looking at Mr Black, I feel like rory, that it looks like a creature out of some cheap film with no budget to produce a believable looking monster, it looks laughable to me and whatever the reason for that design, I still won't like it when I see it.

I dont know who started with that "I dont like it because its new" talk, but I think most of us, including me, just dont appreaciate the new look. It looks like cheap rubber, the shape is awkward (maybe because Im used to the crown, but doesnt matter, I dont like what Im seeing) and the colors are too gay.

That's actually my least-fave. I like the tusk concept, as there have been plenty of ideas for Pred bios using them, but the overall helmet seems simple... Or rather, it looks like they didn't decide on how to make it look, so it comes off as unfinished. Just my opinion, of course.

Once again I have to agree with Blade. Dog handler's mask seems abit dull, or emotionless. Maybe its because it follows the new headshape and gives that effect or something. Falconer's and Mr. Black's seem to be the old-style bios, with sharp edges in the back.

Its funny, we've now seen pictures of the three new Predator designs up close. For better or for worse they also decided to bring back the original Predator too. Just my opinion but seeing Stan Winston's original in all its glory alongside the new ones, simply hammers home how weak and poorly executed they REALLY are...

I can let this one slide until July 9th. I knew what these guys were going to be, really weird, possibly stupid looking Predators. I'm not disappointed because I pictured much, much worse.

However, I do feel that ALL Predators should look the same in the sense that their mandibles close the right way (AvP's and R's just hang open, or the jaws close very weird), the crown shouldnt be too big, ect.

I loved the way Predator 1 was different from Predator 2, I loved them both. But they both had the same structure.

@MaulFan: I agree that petty fights over the film are completely pointless, but it was one guy who repeatedly shot down Sabres and CelticP with ideas not too far away from conspiracy theories (the whole "you're falling into FOX's trap, that's what they want you to believe" kind of thing).
There have been pettier fights before, such as over actor choice and design, but this was clearly the cause on one person. Granted, you need fuel to start a fire, but the source of the original spark couldn't be more obvious.

If you're a Predator fan, and you believe this script is false, something is wrong with you. It's real. It's been proven real through comparing the script to the trailers. Which have matched up perfectly.

It should be that guy who gets locked. Not us.

And btw, someone asked where my post went, I deleted it, just in case. It wasnt bad, but Fox is a very weird company. So you never know what they'll do.

I don't care, the thread was warned several times. If trolling members bother people let the mods know and we'll take care of it, don't take matters in your own hands or you're no better and will suffer consequences.

I don't care who was challenging who, it's not necessary to retaliate, you could ignore, but people didn't and the responses were out of control.

Stuff like that is bound to happen, if people are going to choose to react poorly instead of ignoring and reporting then threads will be close.

I know a lot of the members involved in all this and I know they're capable of behaving better, since the ignored my asking them to do so, so now they have now they can think about how much they want to talk about this movie and if they're willing to play nice so they'll have a place to talk about it.

I had no idea there was a new Predator movie coming out until about 2 weeks ago and hadn't seen a pic of them until today in this thread. From what I've seen so far in here, I'm pretty excited about the movie. As much as I like the original, it's cool to see some new kinds. I see all the unofficial names- Tusked, Mr. Black, Falconer, etc. Where can I see the name with its corresponding picture so I can get to know them?
