I usually love these offerings but this looks terrible.

Forrest has a cream colored suit, not grey, and the shirt pattern is off.

I don't really see much of Hanks in the head either.

"Screaming" Jack has about as good a Jack Nicholson likeness as you could get. I tend to think Ferraro is right, and the reason is usually less talented sculptors and lower quality molds/production processes.

Two totally different versions from different makers being released. Storerooms has the figure with the bench up for pre-order for 74.99 with free shipping. The figure that Abc-Express has up for pre-order doesn't have the park bench and comes with a lot less accessories. Even though the figure with the bench has the wrong color suit I think I will still grab one because of the bench and extra accessories. Plus the hat actually says Bubba Gump not Bubba Gomp. :)

Yes I agree it does have the better facial expression. But the other one is half the price with the Park bench and more accessories (chocolate box, feather, paddle with image, magazines and oscar). I will take the less accurate head version and pick the better head and suit up loose. Anyways..mixing and matching the two sets will get you a much better representation in the end.

Hmm... He looks funny. But a new body might work yeah. I think I'd spend on a TTL instead of a True Type, TTL's are cheaper, and for this kind of figure it would be a waste to use a True Type when you can use it on something more important, me thinks.

I think one of the barbie wheelchairs might work with a repaint. The Drastic Plastic FDR wont work at all.
As for the sculpt, there is a Sinise look alike sculpt ot there. Im not sure but i thinbk its made by dragon. good luck

The likeness isn't 100% but the clothes just need to be futz'd with. A bit of the water bottle spray treatment and some spirit tape would do wonders here. The hat though, I'm not sure of...did it come with the briefcase and bench or were those just for promos?

Came with the bench and suit case, which really adds value to it in my opinion, it's there with the rest of the pictures....

I think that 2nd figure is the better looking one. I almost got that one too, but ABCExpress kept refusing offers so I got bored.

that 2nd one is not really good trust me. I got one quite sometimes ago. base body is the old BBI body that came with those WW2 figures. and the accessories are absolutely not as detailed as that "short-neck" one. the hands are also poorly attached to the figure using the "gum-like sticky clay thing" and barely stay on. although the headsculpt is better.

In retrospect I'm glad though, its kind of a dumb figure.

Well I picked up the jacket and pants (as well as a few other things) of this one from Toy Anxiety to make a Nassau Bahamas Craig Bond (when he first steps off the plane)... I hope they'll look ok on the custom.

Ive been wanting to get this figure, but the sculpt and over all "doll" like look to him have held me off, but then I found this head sculpt on ebay:

In fact, I don't much see the point of unlicensed figures, period—they invariably look very little like the person they are supposed to be representing, and this ugly piece o' junk is no exception. Got the Saturday Toys Tan suit to use to custom build my own Gump today but Im disappointed with how tan the suit actually is in person compared to the stock photo they had so now I need to sun bleach the suit.

I have some time till I get my Gump head so Ill be bleaching the suit. Not sure how long I need to leave it in the sun though...

It is an odd choice for a figure, but the Film has been one of my favorites since I saw it in 1994, And Tom Hanks performance and character has been one of my favorite film characters of all time, so having him represented on my shelf in my movie room is a must. It just took me awhile to find a head sculpt that was good enough for me.

Thanks! I think the paint on the sculpt will have to do. Im not any good at repainting head sculpts. Though I may try and get rid of some much dark in the nostrils. In person it almost looks like he has a nose full of dirt. :lol

Looking pretty good, I actually switched my Gump to a true type and it looks much better then when I took the pictures that were posted earlier in the thread
