I would have thought it was great if he just didn't have any dialog.

The screaming of "no" in that scene is what makes me cringe. I am actually surprised that it made it to the final cut.

I guess GL had a reason. But I'll be damned if I can figure out what it was.

Actually that's what James Earl Jones screamed into the phone when Lucas told him his lines. Luca$ just recorded the conversation and used the scream.
