I've never seen a comiquette AND a PF done on the same person by the same artist. Is this a new precedent? I don't think I can double-dip like this, as much as I like Adam's handiwork. Besides, I've never seen 2 separate PF renditions on the same product from 2 different artists.

I think the angle of the head is really lacking compared to the artwork, which show off the neck nicely, and gives it that allure.

Well if that is truly for a PF and the PF is made I doubt we see the sketch. Maybe they would do a print for the PF version if that is the case, doesn't happen often but it could.

from one of tim miller's recent post, he said hes working on something for sideshow that is his most ambitious project yet. my guess is that its a lara statue based on that jungle sketch, cos the base scene is going to be intensely detailed if it holds any resemblance to the sketch, and maybe thats the ambitious part tim was refering too. i guess anyways.

The extremely detailed base. And I don't buy statues for the overly detailed base...it's a freakin' base. Heck the base is almost more of a focal point than the figure in this one..which I think is weak.

Yeah if she's 1/5 scale the 22" tall spec must be a typo. Unless the total height of the base and box/chest she's sitting on is around 8" or so tall, which I guess could be the case.

Now that we know she's 1/5 scale though I'll repeat what I said earlier, I think the price is too high even if the base is elaborate. As amazing as she looks I'm gonna hold out for the PF. I just really hope that Tim is the one to sculpt it.

Well I ordered it, the exclusive version, as I'm really impressed with this piece.

I've got to decide though as I have the Ms. Marvel PF on waitlist order or could buy it on Ebay and I don't think I can afford both.

The weird thing (for me) is that I have no real love for either of these characters. I've played all the Tomb Raider's and yeah I loved the game when it was first out. Was one of my fave's for the PS1 in fact.

Regarding Ms. Marvel, I've always thought it was a GREAT character design but I haven't collected comics for probably 8 to 10 years now (not that she's new but since her reinvention) and when I did collect, it was always X books pretty much. I always pick her in the Marvel games if she's available though. Does that count?

:lol

I think I just want a sexy, really well done, female piece in my collection. I have the Asajj PF but that isn't like these 2 pieces. That base on the Lara Croft is just amazing too, so many cool things on there.

Do you guys/gals ever feel like this, make the purchase, and then does it become a remorse thing because it wasn't a character/figure that you were TRULY in to?

What do you guys/gals think? Would appreciate the input as I just really started collecting 1/6 & statues back in December.

Unfortunately I think it is because WAY before they announced any of that I think 75% of the people would have told you it is most likely 1/5th scale. When they should the preview way back and said it was an AH! comiquette...come on dude pretty obvious it was going to be 1/5th scale. So other random strangers are more trustworthy then the company your defending? Yea great arguement, they don't know what the ____ their talking about so it must be my fault.

The only differance I know of, not collecting comiquettes, were that the PFs had clothing/mixed media. Not size. My Indy PF is about 21" with the base, 22" is not an unrealistic expectation, especialy when the people making it are telling you thats what it is.

Everyone knows certain things sell out in a specific window, and its BS that they "accidentally" misrepresent themselves in that time.

CIM is 1/4th scale but that is because they said they fully intended for it to be 1/4th scale ahead of time so it would go with the rest of the avengers.

Or the fact that the guy who sculpted it...on here specifically said it was 1/5th scale.

Hey it sucks they misrepresented it but no need to get your panties in a bunch it is not like you actually paid for it knowing it wasn't 1/4th scale.

Doesn't matter, its about them misrepresting themselves.

Again alot of orders occur immediately after the piece goes up and most times I don't recheck them, If I had gotten it, I would have been upset to see the size, and sure I could return it, but I work overtime somtimes to get the cash togeather to make it on time for certain pieces and it would have been a big let down after looking forward to it so long.

Just don't try and say some BS like its my fault tho, thats what I don't like hearing, I didn't do anything wrong by not knowing what scale a comiquette was and relying on an established company I've delt with before.

I knew they had a history of changing Edition sizes, but not actual sizes, so yea when I came in this thread and saw it was smaller it caught me off guard.

Again, my main beef here, is that if your a company that is going to have thigns like PPOs and such, where people take time away from other things to get something right away, you need to get your specs right from the get go.

If it keeps happening all the more reason to deal with and adress it. Like my QC thread which so many people freaked out about, it got an answer and got things done. Same with that doll dot thread. Yes, go look in the Aldo thread, I hate the new version. I know its Hot Toys but Im not bias.

Which is fine but then if they change it for the better, ala KOTCS PF, are you gonna get upset and cancel?

I'm also confused as to all the drama that just unfolded a page ago. This hardly seems like something to get that worked up over.

If they made colors on pants more accurate, that is differant then changing an expression or something, and if anything I'd probably be more likely to order something I didn't already have if their improving screen accuracy. But thats not what were talking about here, these keep happening to the specs, like the Talon ES etc and actual size not improvements. When hot toys says "product not final", i expect changes, but not to recieve a 6" figure.

Yep, I'll probably kill myself over this. :lol

It is the same thing to me. You said they should have everything upfront and done when it comes time to preordering. I think sculpt, paint and color of pants fall in with edition size and specs. Take all or none in my eyes.

Never trust SSC specs, that's newb status all way. I had to put one scale nazi down in the Marvel threads a few months ago :banghead

Agreed with Sexy, this also would be 1:2 status if it were 22" tall...

WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!

As usual overreacting and namecalling, it figures, poor angry guy. Time to let it go. :D

Not to trust specs from a website when that's all you're going for when buying a piece you have not seen is dumb. Where else do you look then?

Now expecting the height to be wrong from their specifications just because it happens routinely is silly. The specs are there for a reason.

They corrected this one early b4 anything was forked out, that's all that matters. Mistakes happen.

It was nice of Tim to drop in to add that it was 1/5 scale too. A great looking piece, love the face.

I would say the more detail base and just general rise in prices across the board.

If prices keep going up that much each new piece ($260 Lara, $220 Elektra, $175 Mystique), I'm going to be priced out of this hobby. These things are cool, but they're not that cool. Silver Surfer is another example of one that I think is priced about $75 too high.

The more I think about it, the more irritated it makes me that SS is upping the price of their stuff, especially since the quality of recent stuff (within the past 1-2 years) doesn't seem to be increasing any more. But I guess as long as it keeps selling out, they're going to keep making as much profit as possible. I just wont buy it directly from SS anymore and maybe pick it up on aftermarket if it comes down in price.

myrainyworld

Setting higher price is better than setting lower quality to make more profit maybe IMO.
Since I can have only few from the hundreds of their lists.
And I hope my few will have the quality they deserved.

However, 22" -> 14.5" makes me a little bit down from higher hope :lol

Can somebody tell me about the ex piece..
"A print of the design artwork created by Adam Hughes"

What size a print by Adam Hughes usually is ?

I don't know if its premium quality deserve the 10$+.
Thank you very much :angelsmil

Jimbo do you mean Scarlet Witch, she's Brooks...

True.

Would that affect the pricing ?

It seems pretty logical to me that it is 14.5 H high, since you know...she is sitting down. Fail to those who canceled because of that. You had to know from the start it is probably in the 1/5th scale.

Ok, 14.5 sitting, how big if we were to stand her up ?

She should be in line with the other AH's right ?

I am still on the fence with this one... not sure I will keep her... price is a little steep to be honest.

For example the BQ is 16.5 inch high, so 2 inch difference sounds pretty accurate with her sitting down. Or close enough that they will probably look in scale with each other.

If Mystique is 1:5 she is 6'9".

Mystique
Height 16.2"

1:4 ----- 16.2"x4= 64.5"=5.4 feet = 5'4.8"
1:5 ----- 16.2"x5 = 81"= 6.75 feet = 6'9"
1:6 ----- 16.2"x6 = 97.2 = 8.1feet

I guess that means that Black Cat is 10.5' tall because of the boxes! :p

You can't really accurately measure height anyway. Most of these broads are bending or arched with their asses sticking out.

fuzzylojiks
04-13-2010, 10:30 AM

Yes, height measurements are from heel to hip, hip to shoulder and shoulder to tip of head minus the base which does take into account their bending posture.

Hehehehe.

You can't but pretty much every AH! statue has been stated to be about 1/5th scale...with the except for Mystique so it is a fair assumption in my mind that you can safely assume most AH! statues will be in 1/5th scale.

Clearly BC is smaller scale. So if Mystique is closer to 1/4th then BC is closer to 1/5th.
