Hehehehe.
You can't but pretty much every AH! statue has been stated to be about 1/5th scale...with the except for Mystique so it is a fair assumption in my mind that you can safely assume most AH! statues will be in 1/5th scale.
Not really, since Emma is pretty close to Mystique height as well.

I dunno she pretty much dwarfs Emma. Plus it just isn't height but the rest of her body looks to be a larger scale.
fuzzylojiks
04-13-2010, 10:34 AM
Clearly BC is smaller scale. So if Mystique is closer to 1/4th then BC is closer to 1/5th.
Exactly, so they are not all 1/5 scale if taken individually and that's why the whole line is not a given on scale expectations. Good point mate. You're right on the averaging it out, but taken individually you never know. That's why it was awesome from Tim to confirm her scale here when most people were confused. It's never a given.
And you're right about Mystique too she is taller than Emma and goes well with PFs which are 1/4 scale.

No ____ buddy but if you look at the line as a whole it is roughly 1/5th scale. Which I have been saying the whole time. You can easily generalize the AH! line by saying it is 1/5th scale. If I am not mistake it has been said numerous times that the various AH! statues are about 1/5th. Not counting Mystique.
Ok I quoted you after you finished. My whole point was averaging them out and you can safely assume that most in the line will be in scale with the rest. Yes Mystique was definitely larger and there is no definite scale to the line but they are all similar so it was pretty safe to assume that Lara would be 1/5th scale.

Why does it even ____ing matter? :dunno
They're artistic interpretations of hot comic chicks to make fanboys drool. This reminds me of the time I went to a strip club with a comic geek friend of mine, who was coincidentally a virgin. He spent the whole time critiquing the shape of the woman's labia and completely missed the fact that there was a perfect *** shaking in his face. If you're spending too much time breaking out the tape measure because you think one is a fraction taller than the other, get out and go get laid. Save the money from the statue and spend it on a real woman. Then you'll come back with a better appreciation of what they're trying to achieve.

Well not if she was same height as Mystique so yeah and you clearly stated that both BC and M were different scales. So yeah, Mytique is closer to 1/4 scale as you said and BC is closer to 1/5.
Lara is an awesome sculpt (especially the face) and goes very well with the AH line.

So taking for granted at the end of all this there's no way she could of been 22" and the cancellation factor on that being alone is silly because none of the AH! pieces in the line come in remotely close to that scale as everyone pointed out here are relatively close.
Hence canceling this because you thought it might be 22" is ridiculous since most AH! collectors know that everything is between 1/4-1/5 or even 1/6 with some of the older pieces like BC.

Well to each their own, as long as people don't get down and call other newbs, nazis or whatever else people namecall. It's always good to have people address concerns that's what this awesome friendly forum is here for.
Breaking it down, it was a simple error on the site rectified in not that much time, which doesn't take away from the fact that it's an awesome sculpt, Tim the man took the time to chime in that it was 1:5, and other pieces in the line have varied in height. 22" for a sitting pose seemed crazy anyways.:duh

Personally, if you're gonna be concerned about something, worry more about paint flaking, mysterious "increases" in edition sizes, or nonchalantly lengthened runs with "international edition" painted on the bottom. Otherwise, unless you're having a special case built to hold it, I don't see what nitpicking the scale really has to do with anything. Especially when it's common knowledge that there's no consistency in these releases.

Well, buy what you like and to each their own brother. To me edition size means nothing but to someone else it may. That's what cool about respecting individuality and freedom of speech on this cool forum.

Indeed. You can't really tell from my pics, but the blush effect on her face including the redness around the cheeks and nose simulating the coldness where Lara is, is excellent.
This is the one case where the proto and production paintjobs are 99% exact. And that's rare :lol

I love everything about the statue except how hard it is to keep the flimsy map in her hands. I ultimately decided to use a speck of fun-tak under the thumb on each hand to keep it more secure.
Did anyone else have that problem? Like it can only hold the map at one particular position, and it can fall out real easily?
EDIT: I found that if she holds it with her right hand from the side instead of the bottom (like in Sideshow's photos), you get a slightly more secure and natural looking hold of the map. It can still fall out pretty easily though.

inster, can you take real nice tight close ups of her face from the side profile, angled, and dead on where she's staring right at us. I want to see how well her face was painted. I canceled and may get her depending on how well her face paint apps came out. Crisper the better.
Thanks in advance!
Hope that helps.

To display the map I just folded up two small pieces of paper towel and slid it in the opening of the thumbs. Then I was able to get a tight fit when the map was placed inside the opening of the thumbs. I am unable to see the paper towel inserts that I applied and it won't damage the piece either.

DeadLeaves
10-31-2010, 09:48 PM
The print is on thin card, slighty shinny, almost like an over sized post card & is a bit smaller than 13 x 19. I'm not real sure on the actual size, I'll check when I get home.
AH's art it's self is great, but overall it didn't "wow" me.
DeadLeaves

So about 9 1/2" x 14 1/4". Pretty small.

Is it really going to cost so much more for them to produce?

I still don't have a place for her - due to the massive foot print of the base (too big for my shelves).
The only spot I got that she'll fit is where Kaneda & his bike are sitting - no ____ing way is that going back in the box.... So maybe Lara will have to 'till I work something out. Pity, such a nice sculpt.

Does anyone know of a safe/easy way to cut/trim the peg that she sits on?
The statue itself is perfect, but when I sit her down there is about a 1/8" gap between her butt and the case.
Skiman
11-18-2010, 10:13 AM
You could do a low setting dremel with a metal sand head.
Firebird
11-18-2010, 10:16 AM
I just noticed that on mine too. I wouldn't say mine is a 1/8", but maybe 1/16" off the case. The legs sit on the case with no gap.
what's up with AH and his disappointing print sizes? He should just throw a post card in the exclusive box already.
Skiman
11-18-2010, 10:19 AM
Wrap a towel around the rest of the bottom of the base as well, you don't want the dremel to slide and nick the base.

I've got a slight gap on mine - about 1 1/2 mm... The problem isn't the peg, her toes are firmly placed on the case that's part of the base. So that's as far as she'll go.
Are her toes still up in the air too? If so it's the peg/hole. I think what Ski said is the best option - dremel the peg on her leg.

It really is a nice statue. I'm still trying some stuff with the map, with photocopied versions. But I'm finding it difficult to get the double sided image right...

I'm stoked to be adding this AH! Laura Croft to my "just starting out" collection. It arrives next week!
This will be only my second piece. I'm thankful... My best friend gave me the AH! Rogue for Christmas this last year, and I was hooked from the moment I pulled her out of the box.
I have followed Adam's art for years, and Tim Miller's work is spot on.
