Well, I gave up on the idea of getting really nice shots and just used the old cheapie digital camera with flash. Hopefully this will suffice until I can get a real camera and decent lighting! Also, some stuff is still stuck in the closet (like all of my X-Files figures).

Tom truly breath taking collection. I love the way it's so neatly displayed. It shows you put thought on how to display these things right. I don't see one single item in your collection that I wouldn't collect, I guess we have simular tastes.:clap

Nice. Almost all of it looks really good.

I would clear out some of the cheap Fett pieces though. I know it's Fett but it looks "junky."

Thanks, guys! And as for Fett- I know... It's the one part that doesn't belong. I am going to get a little shelf and stick them elsewhere.

As more and more of the Star Wars PFs arrive, they will begin to take over!

And I totally see why you love the SW PF figs so much. They look so good in your photos.

Also, you might have a slight case of bobafettitis, but it's not terminal.

Hopefully.

Tom, I really love what I see! I think it is the first time I see the LOTR Weta pieces more or less displayed thematically, geographically, rather than by sort. I really like it! Nice to get a glance of the other stuff you collect, like the Code 3 vehicles for instance. Very Nice! Even the Boba Fett stuff looks nice, although I still don't find the character important enough to give him that much attention. But that is personal!

tomandshell
03-13-2006, 06:50 PM
Thanks for the kind words! I agree that in the overall scheme of things, Boba Fett is not that important a character, but I do indeed collect him for personal reasons. I have a Boba Fetish. I am still considering a better way to display all of the Fett stuff, as it looks more and more out of place with the more classy PFs, etc. I always enjoy looking at the collections of other members, and thank you for taking a moment to check out mine!!

Major revamp of my collection underway...

I finally got a nice enclosed curio cabinet so that I can bring some LOTR pieces home from work without worrying about the kids breaking them! My office is now going to be predominantly Star Wars, with most of the LOTR stuff at home in this cabinet and on the upper shelves of my nearby bookcases. I wish the pictures gave you an accurate sense of how great these things look in this kind of proper lighting! In person, it looks terrific, and makes everything look very classy and expensive.

Crazy, I resize them using Photoshop, and then upload them via www.imageshack.us. That gives you a direct link so that you can post them directly in your thread. I believe that Imageshack gives you the option of resizing the pics, but I always do it in Photoshop.

No, my lightsaber is just fine on Anakin. Sorry to hear about yours, though! If you're having trouble keeping it up, try this (http://www.viagra.com/).

Thanks! When Asajj gets here it will be too crowded and I will have to move them to two separate shelves. (That will also free up some space for Obi-Wan and Padme... )

As for Asajj: Paid in the upper range of the mid-200's. Mint and unopened. No cracked or broken lightsabers to worry about! Should be here on Tuesday.

Everybody loves it! People on staff come by now and then to check in and see if there are any new additions. I have been threatened more than once that I will come back from vacation one day to an empty office. I work a lot with adolescents who forget all of their problems when they come in for counseling and end up staring at all of my toys with a big grin on their face...

Well, that's an exaggeration, but I have a popular office. And if I could ever get my Boba Fett cookie jar that I ordered from Star Wars Shop last AUGUST, it would be that much better as I would have snacks to offer while people are checking out my stuff.

After watching Padme after Padme go for over $600 each, I've decided that my 5 will have to do. SS is releasing a 12" Padme soon, and GG is releasing a statue of Obi Wan in armor early next year. Hopefully both this releases will drive the prices down of the GG maquettes.

I only have Grievous maquette which I really am suprised with the quality of it. However, due to high price of Padme, and the upcoming products I cancelled the line for the moment. may be next year I will try to collect again,

Excellent Display. Nice exclusives. :) As though its off the comic covers. The comics need to be seen more. Probably re-positioned a little or add some risers.

I start to hate myself for cancelling the exclusive sentinel after seeing your vs pieces. Now my collection is missing and I cancel in March the exclusive sentinel with thinking that I might buy from ebay cheaper :monkey2

Those are Sideshow's Monty Python and the Holy Grail 12" figures. Sadly, I sold them all earlier this year in an effort to pay for the Grievous statue and make room for the upcoming Star Wars 12" line. :monkey2

Yes, this is not the permanent solution for the comics. I have tried a few options and have not been happy with the results yet--I want them a little higher and am still looking for a way to make them look nice. (And I already have one waiting for the arrival of Captain America...)

This was a close thing! I had ordered the Sentinel twice and cancelled both orders. The Wolverine piece was actually sold on eBay the day that the Hulk/Spidey went up for sale from Sideshow. After changing my mind, I worked something out with the winning bidder and got to keep the Wolverine, and then lucked out and was one of the last people to get the Sentinel off the wait list. Now I plan on maintaining my perfect record of exclusives in this line. Can't wait for the next one...

Greetings, Tomandshell!
I really like the way the comics you display w/the VS echo the action in the VS pieces! Perhaps you might think about finding really nice copies of those comice and having them CGC'd (graded and cased) as a great way to compliment the VS pieces.
In your pix, I do not see any glare on the cases. Is there glass on any of them, and if not, what do you do to keep the PF's and VS clean?
Great collection!
Thanks for your time.
Best,

The PFs and VS. dioramas are out in the open. I have to dust them regularly with compressed air and one of those micro fiber cloths. I did pick up a few Detolfs recently, but my GG stuff is going in there. You can take out a shelf and display the PFs, but that option leaves a little too much vertical space for my liking. Also, the shelf space devoted to the Star Wars PF figures is directly behind my desk and is in the most visible spot, so that they are kind of the "centerpiece" of my office, and I want it to stay that way, so I put up with the lack of glass. For now, the Dewback is holding the space reserved for the 1:1 Yoda bust that will be arriving in early 2007.

I got both. I looked at each of them and decided to display the Green with the others. The Grey is in the closet. I'm too scared to put it on the shelf... :o

Thanks so much for your comments! I do like Boba Fett, and I am looking forward to getting the Fett PF, as well as the upcoming MR blaster and helmet. And I have a signed Fett print to frame and display with them all.

As for the PF sizes, actually, I think that the Leia is the smallest one. Luke has a larger base, which makes him a little bigger. I just love having them all together at last!

Leia and Obi-Wan seem to be the most perfect versions of their human counterparts. Obi-Wan really needs to be paired up with Vader, so as a stand alone piece, I would give Leia the edge. Plus, she has one of the best exclusives so far. Obi-Wan's training remote was nowhere to be seen on the Death Star during the duel, so its presence next to the two PFs makes little sense.

Grievous is amazing but is not based on a specific actor, so it's easier to be impressed. It's hard to pick, though. I am very pleased with the sculpts and paint jobs on my Luke and Han PFs, and the Vader is impressive as well. I love them all and am just very happy to have gotten in on this line from the beginning. Coming to it later and playing catch up would be impossibly expensive. The Star Wars PFs are my very favorite Sideshow products and I am looking forward to seeing many more over the coming months and years!

(Now I am trying to figure out how to make a 360 degree Quicktime turnaround of my office...)

Do it! Cases (or something similar) are essential for these pieces. A separate case or cabinet is the only way to go. BTW, where is the Maul bust? I'm not seeing it.

The more I look at those close wars pieces, the more I want to buy them myself. I packed up my entire LOTR pollystone line to make room for Star Wars stuff as SW is my main focus right now.

LOL--and to think that I almost cropped that part out of the picture! I believe that the LOEG volumes are now out of print. Get them now if you are at all interested--Amazon is no longer selling them. To the right of Watchmen is Frank Miller's Absolute Dark Knight collection that just came out this month. To the right of V is the slipcased Sideshow catalog (although that will likely get moved when the absolute Sandman and New Frontier hardcovers arrive later this fall). Other than V, the absolute editions are the only comics I purchase. They just look so danged respectable in slipcased hardcover format. (However, I do wish that Kingdom Come had a dust jacket like the others.) Thanks!

Ahhh I see, I though that was the catalog in there. Not sure whether to get LOEG Absolutes, recommended much? The film destroyed it unfortunately.
Also what about the Absolute Dark KNight, can I hear first hand if TDKSA is good? I hear its horrendous by some and great by others(minority).
ALSO:lol what New Frontiers about? Cant wait for Sandman.

I just got the Dark Knight volume and haven't had a chance to read TDKSA yet. I know that people are split on whether or not it's any good. I glanced at it and the use of color is a big departure from The Dark Knight Returns. I really enjoyed both the LOEG books and as far as I'm concerned the movie never happened. And New Frontier is a retro styled story that takes place during the Cold War Eisenhower/Kennedy era. I haven't read before it but I look forward to picking it up next month.
