Happy new year ladies.. huummm sorry.
Well its good to back in the swing of things and already this year there has been some topchuffintasic stuff appearing already.
So I am join in with this wee chappie.
I was most fortunate enough to be given a truely wonderful parcel of gifts from Deathstalker the other day and amongst the goodies was a chuffin ace sculpt of Saesee Tiin.
Now you know I am an OT fan but spank me with a kipper I was most excited.
Now the original cast was good but I really want to have a bash at learning to sculpt so I made a resin plaster cast and worked in to it adding a few creases wrinkles and chopping down the hooter a bit.
So I slapped a spot of paint on and tada!!
Now it is nowhere nere finished this is just the beginning. I have only really done dios before fo the main focus on this was painting the eyes.
The nest Tiin I do I am going to really focus on the skin and nose, then I think I will rework the horn!! as they look a trifle to big.
I am loving having a break from the dios and trying to learn new skills.

Pretty sweet Mark. Is there anything you can't do? :lol. There wouldn't be a Senate Duel shoot in your near future, would there? If there isn't...(in my best Picard voice) MAKE IT SO! :peace

looking good Dorgs.
Finish him up quick so we can use him! Remember, as soon as you have the head down pat, you can just throw a robe over him if needed (but it looks like you got most of the right clothes)
The head looks great to me
your head as is

vs.
a pic from the movie

the sculpt would look PERFECT if you dabbed some brown flecks around his cheeks and forehead... maybe dilute the paint so it's semi-transparent, that way it'll blend in with the pink skin pretty well to make that dark muddy reddish color...

Had a little play with the head sculpt. The original is three one in the really clean white one. I think the oginal is fab and who ever made is a chuffin genius. But I love to make stuff my own so I have worked into the casts I have made. The most resent is on the far right. I have tried to re-work the nose and mouth and added as many wrinkles and creases as I could.
At some stage I may well attempt to move the horns up the head a bit, but that is major surgery and I am more of a butcher than a sturgeon. Humm hang on .. a sturgeon's a fish, nurse! nurse! I need my pills!!

The sculpt is cool, but I think this line is currently the quote of the year for a very young 2010. :lol

Kipper spanking time Flosi, come on you know you want it!!.
Thought I would splash a drop of paint on the Tiin heads and whip the macro lens out!! My word gals it shows every imperfection!!!
I know nothing about painting heads so I am making it up as I go along. When I first joined the forum in Dec last year I found a really good tutorial for painting heads with pics and everything but I am buggered if I can find it now!!

Well I feel a bit bad selling them really. As it is not my sculpt and I have no idea who sculpted it. But I will be totally honest, I really need some cash atm. There are a few projects I would love to do but dont have the cash.
There are two ships and a couple of figures I want to have a go at and I really need a bit of cash to work on the falcon.
But the other question is how much should the heads be.
The way I see it I think I should offer a basic head, uncleaned and a bit rough.
then cleaned
neck drilled
primed and I guess I could paint em up but I am still learning to paint heads.
What do you guys think?

I had this head for a few years , at least 4 I would say. I got it from generic site that listed the heads like... sci fi 1... or... sci fi 2 ...etc.,etc. If that rings any bells. I can't remember anything else about it. My skills were never up to the task and I thought Dorgs can make a go of it. Which he did in spectacular fashion.

So Dorgs you never said anything in reply to my offer to try making a Nien Nunb sculpt for you... prolly won't be great, but at least it could be free! :lol like I said I'll try whipping one up soon... need the sculpting XP points! Then I am gonna paint the body and hands. I am tempted to pop it on a SS bod rather than a TT

just picked up 2 x cheap Cloneobis from Hong Kong for jedi/clone bashes, could use one of those heads (pretty please) when you get round to casting more. Would you like a Cloneobi head in exchange?

hey guys! thanks to the snow corp for the great S.T. headsculpt. This is only my second ever paint job and 1st alien. I like the fact with S.T. he is pretty much un messupable. I started with a base coat of salmon buff (sorry no pics of in progress). Then added some yellow ocre with a feathery brush. Kinda just patted up and down with the brush lightly as well as rubbed with my finger here and there, then followed up with some burnt sienna using the same application method as the ocre. I finally covered over with a thin wash of the original salmon again.
I of course need to do the eyes and horns, as well as some shading around the eyes.
I'm actually pretty happy with it for being such a noob. The picture came out a little more yellow than it is in person.
Thanks agan Mark!

Chuffin eck thats totally cool and you really have got a move on, I had to re-post your images bigger as they are amazing!
Can not wait to see more, are you goinna spray the armour grey and give him the jedi mankini? As for the helmet... Hasbro boba???
BTW my son was looking over my shoulder as I wrote this, his comment! "Wicked" what more need I say mate, brilliant job.

thanks Mark and son! thanks crimsonbob and galactiboy. I give credit to the splotchy design of the character for how it came out so good. If it was a smoother design no way could I make it look good.
if i still have the hasbro boba i think that will be base for the helmet. if not I might use the SSC Jango helmet that came with mace windu.
I do want to get the armor grey like the cartoon, but man I am really bad at using spray paint I can't get it even and always leave runs and drips. i wonder if there is a way to dye it instead?
as for the jedi outfit, I think I'm going to wait and hope SSC makes him one day. :)

Spray cans are great but you cant rush it! shake the can loads and loads, then hold it a good distance from what ever you are spraying and move the can from left to right... dont worry if it has not covered it in the first go, just wait then do a bit more.. and a bit more.
I am desperately trying to get hold of some clone armour but darthgothikus keeps buying up all the clonobis LOL.
If I do manage to get some I will spray it up and if you like it I will send it over mate.

so i tried the dye experiment using powdered Rit. It doesn't work. not only does it not work but it stains the plastic in different colors. some dyed in the correct grey but some of it came out yellow or brown!! i guess its off to the spray paint. i'll tae your advice ande patient and do lots of coats.

Haven't had time to do anything more than stick Dorgs head onto a Clonobi body... but I'm excited about this bad boy already! He looks mean!
I think I'll go the whole hog with him:
1) remove the cape
2) Split the Groin and Abdomen armour apart so I can thread the "Mankini" in correctly.
3) Spray armour grey.
4) Fix the tusk which I have already snapped! Whoops! (dropped the damn thing on the floor as I was trying to take pics - damn floppy bodies!!!!!!)
