Hot Toys is really the authority for 1:6 scale figures for how many years now! No contest!!!! Who would've thought the Iron Man movie line was not yet done, when we thought they're already developing Iron Man 2 figures?!?! :)

It's a good thing i don't have much interest in Iron Man and havn't seen the movie, because that would be an easy buy. A thing of beauty! Looks freakin perfect! And accessories like that just cannot be beat!
Well done HT, now THAT is an ICONIC look!

ahah for once I'm not impressed by a Hot Toys figure. I don't like the sculp looks very plastic / not life like and I see no point in a figure representing that scene in the film. Don't get me wrong I love Iron Man and have Mark 3 but I'm just not impressed by this.

cool figure! the likeness is there, just not 100%, but its miles better than the 2 HS we have got so far. The rest looks to be top HT quality. Not sure if I really need this figure, might just get the head to replace the ones we got in mk3 and others.

Let's just hope the production piece turns out that good! I think the only thing that needs tweaking, is to mute those vertical mouth to nose lines, other than that, looks sweet. And the eyes could use a little more purpose, instead of a blank kind of distant stare.
Also was going to say, is that a seperate head and neck again? If so, how come HT seem to be doing that again? I thought they were done with the old style and were including the neck in the HS, which looked great!

It is easy to look at two pictures approximately the same size and point out flaws. In truth the figure head approx the size of a quater to half dollar. IMO the detail and resemblence on something that size is amazing.
I stated another IM figure wasn't needed (which it isn't) but this figure, sculpt and accessory package is impressive. HT "brought it" and now I will buy it. Well done HT.

Such statements are nothing more than attacks to assert yourself - absolutely no constructive criticism or even some logical thinking about the sabj. Do not talk to me like this pls, we should be demanding... though the measure-line is necessary too :)

Well judging from this pic, it looks as if the leg panels can be removed.

Not sure what you mean by a reasonable price. The figures wouldn't cost them more than 25% of the selling price to make. That'd give them plenty of lee way to accommodate their customers in these particular economic times, but have no fear, they'll go up again. They always do.

VERY impressive figure and Kojun definitely captured RDJ wonderfully, as well as a more RDJ paint job too.
As far as using this with Mark 3, you probably won't be able to, Mark 3, and I assume Mark 2 as well, uses a larger ball joint than standard HT figures, and likely this head uses the standard kind and won't fit on the Mark 3, maybe if you pull out the ball joint plug it will, but keep in mind you can't just throw any head onto the Iron Mans because of the ball joint difference, maybe BD Mark 3 will use standard size.

You might still able too. I remember someone here in the threads mentioned that they were able to put the Tony Stark Head from the Mark 3 figure on a regular truetype neck by swapping out the inside rubber socket thing. Never tried it myself, but it may work out.

I bet $145 (of Monopoly money) that this will be slightly out of scale with the current HT Iron Man figures. I mean, considering the HT IM figures are either a bit too slim or a bit too short (Mark I), there's no way Tony is going to perfectly fit in if displayed together.

that's a good point dude. never thought about this. i wonder if posing it with bent knees in flying mode could possibly create the illusion it's in scale. having said that, a head comparison alone will probably be a scale issue.

Tony is shorter out of costume than in. Tony is 6' while in the suit he is 6'3" which means that if his is shorter than the Mark 3 it'd actually be IN scale.

No, I meant the opposite of what you said. The Tony Stark figure will be too tall and too big to appear as if he would actually fit inside a Mark II/III by HT. As for the Mark I, from what I've read and seen it is slightly shorter than its sleeker cousins. If HT follows their usual rubric when it comes to height/scale, this figure will be very close to 12", if not exactly that -- the specs even read "Approx. 30 cm", same as most other HT figures.

 I must seriously be missing something here. He's wearing the Iron Man boots. So he should be the exact same height as the Mark II/III. Right? The helmet fits snug against the head, so it doesn't add any height. And the rest of the armor might bulk him up, but not make him taller.
Well you can even see this with the custom Tony Stark figures with a TT and the Mark III head sculpt + HT Man Suit. There's no way THAT could fit into the Mark II or III suit. It's simply too slim. But it still looks cool and most people don't really think about that. So displayed together I don't think it'll matter much. The Mark I is a different matter, because like you said it's too short to begin with (shorter than the Mark II and III suits). So there's not much you can do about that.

I bet $145 (of Monopoly money) that this will be slightly out of scale with the current HT Iron Man figures. I mean, considering the HT IM figures are either a bit too slim or a bit too short (Mark I), there's no way Tony is going to perfectly fit in if displayed together.
Presumably he's going to be the size of any other human HT figure and the fact is no other human HT figure would fit inside the Iron Man II and III suits. They clearly paid no attention to having a realistic scale relationship between figures. When do they ever though. The Predator is barely any taller than Dutch and hes actually less buff too.
But if we really wanna talk about scale surely the movie Iron Man should have been bigger than he was. Its no good sticking a guy in a suit of armour without layers of cushioning inside or else any dent the armour receives could potentially be as fatal as if he were wearing no armour at all.

Here is how it works. As for the shoes I'm guessing that Hot Toys wants you to go out to buy a True-Type to bash a Stark in suit. Or perhaps you can take off all the armor and put on the shoes.

I was thanking you for the pics showing the clip. Yeah, thanks again. They did a good job oh hiding that in the Hot Toys pics, just as they don't show the figure wearing the accessory shoes. Guess some pics will come out later to confirm the leg armour can be removed, along with the rest of his mechanical devices. Looks like the heart device is part of the strap and not embedded into the figure itself. Wonder how many battery compartments he'll have.

Judging by this pic, I'd the arc-reactor is embedded into the figure. You can see where the strap has shifted a bit.
This makes me think that you can take all the mechanical devices off the figure and have a good representation of Tony Stark. :)

From the first page
- ABS material TrueType body with newly designed chest, forearms and forelegs
- LED-lighted heart device, hand gauntlet and boots (battery operated)**
That to me says the heart is embedded in the chest

This is one of the most impressive figures I've seen in a while. I'm trying really hard to not order this. I'm getting the Mk III BD (my first and only Iron Man figure) ....and due to finances, space, and trying to keep my collection looking neat lol... I'm trying to only get maybe one version of each character, and therefore the main version (in this case... Stark in the suit).
This scene was great in the film, and this figure is REALLY impressive... the sculpt, the mechanical parts, the backdrop/floor, the fire extinguisher robot (a great addition!), the 'flying' stand... such a great looking figure. But I don't want to end up like some people with 6 different versions of every character that comes out. lol... too much money, too much space, and too messy as a display

Didn't notice that before, thanks for drawing my attention to that specific pic. It looks to me like it's a floating lens, perhaps, or that whatever locks the outer lens in place was somehow unhinged whilst they set up that pose. Even so, the arc reactor probably still has it's own lens.
Going back through the thread, now that I have more time, I see more pics showing the slipping outer lens. Post 42 initially and more examples at post93. Thanks again darren1228. I see you asked virtually the same question, as mine, at post 97.
Maybe the jumper he is wearing is permanently fixed due to the embedded arc reactor. The left arm looks like it has a cuff above the arm device, and that he has a long sleeved shirt under the short sleeved jumper, but that could another of my assumptions.
At this point, without being able to view the You Tube vid I don't think it shows the boots can be removed, not that they can't mind you, but, to me, it looks like they are slightly apart, at least, to enable assembly, of course, but once snapped together they may not be removable. Due to the electronics, even the arm devices may not be removable either, meaning only one batter compartment would be necessary, and perhaps, likely.
It's early days yet. Down the line more pics, or a post with the You Tube vid, rather that a screencap, will hopefully reveal the actual case.

I think by looking at the figure from all these pics, that there are perhaps 2 battery compartments.
I think one's in the body itself and powers the Arc-reactor, and the other, which powers the gloves and boots is in the big pouch on his belt. You can see cables running from that thing and I know he had those cables in the movie too, but what if Hot Toys managed to use the cables in a way cables are actually used?
This (if they did it that way) is a great opportunity to give a figure removable electronic devices, because the cables don't need to be built inside a figure but actually require to be seen.

I took the opposite approach from a having a single representation to collecting a certain theme. It saves money, space while keeping the display up to standard.
I collect Marvel / DC movie licensed 1:6 figures (not all). I may have a few different versions of Ironman in my display but it isn't mixed with POA, Predator's, Mars Attacks, Aliens etc.
I was going to pass on this figure. I assumed $150.00 for a new RDJ sculpt wasn't worth it. It is an amazing figure with a decent amount of accessories plus to sculpt to warrant (IMO) dropping $150. I hope you can resist, I got sucke din :lol

Gotta love the armour on the figure as well.

Don't see why anyone thought they would be definitely removable. You would think that Hot Toys would advertise the boots being removable in the specs. Plus the Mark I was shown like this ...but the parts weren't removable at all.

Did anyone here actually doubt that the boots would be removable?
What sort of question is that? Why shouldn't anyone here doubt anything? Because unless it has been confirmed, who's to know? Two people have raised a question mark of whether the boots were actually removable or not, and I bet others would be interested to know for sure, one way or the other. Not that it would deter anyone from buying it, in any case. Do you see any pictures of him without them? darren 1228 has shown another piece of the puzzle, but the script needs translation to know for certain if there is any indication as to why the boots were pictured separately.
It's a great figure, but as always when Hot Toys shows initial pictures the fan boys swoon. There needs to be some balance and healthy skepticism. It's not the greatest or best Ironman figure yet. What are the shoes for? The extra hands don't look all that different from the ones the figure already has. Their both sets of open palmed hands. It doesn't have that many accessories. A cardboard backdrop, robot arm, hands and shoes. What so great about that? The robot arm. The best thing is the greatly improved but not perfect head sculpt. The clear pole for the stand will undoubtedly be the same as what other companies have provided and be very brittle.
It's a great addition to the Ironman range, but unless we get some confirmation as to what is removable we may be stuck with the figure as it is. Either posed in mid air or not. Everyones display being almost the same. Of course, people will customize the figure in order to get a greater range of poseable options and figure variations, but straight from the box it's going to be limited.

Yes, I assume so as well. You remove the boots and put on the shoes. Easy. The light tube to the boots is blocked off by the shoes, the same as the Mark's lit open palms are, when changed over to the fists. Makes sense. I'd still like some confirmation from an authoritative source.
I wasn't trying to tackle plasmid, but he did refer to darren and me in a round about way, because we both questioned the removeability of the boots, regardless of what we might actually believe. As if it were wrong or stupid to do so. That's how it came across to me. If my reply came off as a personal attack, it wasn't meant to be.
So what's the difference between the hand sets? They look exactly the same to me.
