I've been very, very reluctant to do this, because I've always felt my stinkin' photos sank the poor Anna Valerious figure...anyway, here's a glimpse.

The box again has a foil sticker proclaiming it the exclusive version. All the box art is of the prototype. The production paint differs, especially around the eyes, and no doubt this will cause much discussion. I think it's an improvement:

Congratulations Sideshow!

He looks perfect to me. I don't have him on order, I'll have to wait awhile before I add him to the collection. It looks like Sideshow has improved in the accessory department too.

Looks like the Duke to me. Sideshow definitely has done its homework. They sure gave him plenty of ammo...

Got him today too. Looks great, especially the leather strap on the rifle. I think the clasp on the belt might be a bit oversized, although I'm no expert.

Hmmm, looks like I have the unenviable task of posting the first negative
or disappointed opinion.
I think it was somewhat disingenuous of SST to put a picture of a sculpt
that is not in the box. That picture is what sold me on the figure.
I dont believe the figure I received is as good a likeness.
Its an average sculpt at best. They shouldve really nailed it because of the
difficulty and exclusivity of the license. Mediocre and dissapointed are two words that keep coming to mind. SideShow can claim its the best likeness
out there but thats not saying much.

i have to admit that i was a little underwhelmed when i opened him too -- the paint seems like it was laid on extremely thick, burying the details of the sculpt -- and it just seems a bit. . . flat to boot. the neck seems a bit too long as well. maybe my expectations were just a bit too high -- i love the duke, love the movie the figure is based on, was really excited to get the figure, but. . . it just seems like it could have been executed a bit better. the likeness is there, it just seems the paint apps cause it to lose something. ah well, they can't all be csm quality paint jobs i guess :huh

I have to say, the last couple of notes, added to this tread, confirm why I am reluctant to purchase 'personality' figures (that and the Pershing figure sold out before I managed to get my order in !)
I'll stick with the 'foot soldiers' who can hide in the background.

I too was underwelmed by the figure, not so much the sculpt, but the quality of how the accessories were manufactured. The back pack and leggins were already damaged. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE QUALITY?????

I'm glad I ordered my Duke, and George W, I wish they would redo Abe. However upon a closer examination of the Duke I noticed a lot of frayed stitching. I have loose threads everywhere! :eek

I received mine earlier this week and I do like it quite a bit. The head sculpt is ok. My only gripes are the frayed fabric and the lack of instruction or knowledge on my part as to where certain things go. the two straps on the back of his pack are a mystery to me. I think I've figured out where the canteens go. I've got one of the "hooks" inside the hole on the ammo belt.

It's the first 12" figure of mine I've taken out of the packaging and the one with the most straps and fabric.

Overall I'm happy with it and my SSC 12" figure obsession grows now thanks my first Planet of the Apes figure, the Exclusive Edition of Caesar (Edition Size of 400), from Conquest of the Planet of the Apes! :D

Nice. I think they nailed it. Wayne's likeness morphed as he grew older.
It's a younger wayne for sure. I believe SS will change his likeness as they produce different pieces. I didn't orderr this one because to be sure they'll release different western characters he played. really not sure why they chose
WWII marine for the first one. Maybe they're trying to produce it for the release of Iwo Jima possibly next year. Don't know. The premium format is nice! Ordered that one.

You know, I disliked the final figure so much that I canceled the two that I had ordered (one for me and one for my father).
