View Full Version : Dismantling a PF figure for repainting?

Has anyone tried dismantling a premium format figure for ease of repainting the head and hands? I have a second black and white Lugosi Dracula figure on it's way to me and I would very much like to re-do him to look the way he probably did on the film set. Does anyone have any tips? Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

You pose an interesting question, Double Dare.
Heath Hammond deconstructed a PF LAM during his live chat at SDCC last year, and this article (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=comiccon05_heath) may provide you with some insights.
Undressing then re-dressing the figure is the biggest issue, as the clothes are sewn on the bodies and are not made to be removed.
Perhaps reposting this question in the "Ask Sideshow" or "General Movie/TV" forums will elicit more replies.

I suggest just covering up and taping off the clothing (very carefully) to keep it safe from the paint, then go to town.
