It is true, the collection is no more. It was fun while it lasted but I only own the full 1:1 endo now and will collect the Bowen Bronze line and maybe the Sideshow Star Wars bronze line.
The theater room will always be there of course.
http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/7848/end1fb8.jpg
The Collection/Museum room is now a gameroom for my boys and me. Air hockey, drums, disco ball, stereo system, laser lights, and more. :) I will be adding a sit down arcade game as well at some point and some other stuff. Not complete yet.

Holly S**t!
I really like the way you have set up the collection. I'v been checking through various members stuff on the 'Show your shelves' section and I can't beleive I didn't find yours
What are the black pillers made of? Also, where did you get the display case that holds arnie?
I ask as I have a back room which will be converted into a display room in the new year (time and money permitting)

I really like the way its spaced out. I find that is one of the most difficult things is keeping items far enough apart so they don't look cluttered which detracts from the individual pieces. It really does have a museum type feel...how much is admission? :D

Thanks.
Yup, actually, selling my last Weta piece right now, Sauron.
The line had some GREAT pieces in it but I personally like the 1/4 PF pieces best. (and of course 1/3 CM)
Cannot wait to see future 1/4 LOTR pieces since Lurtz looks so good. :banana
All of this is in the room behind my theater room.

I wish I had your amount of space available. Im actually runing into a big problem, being that I have only a little bit of space left for one for cabinet. And I also love the 1/4 scales and I want to get them one day so I dont know what Im going to do. theres the 12" buffy line, Angel, LOTR, and SW and I have room for one more Ikea glass cabinet.
ANYWAY. im blown away by the set up and of course those beautiful 1/4 / 1/3 scales. Looks like a real museum. brilliant work, you should be VERY proud.

Gruson, how deep are the shelves if you don't mind me asking? It looks like the bases of Luke and Vader are hanging over the edge. Are they less than 12" deep? I was looking into making some 16" shelves but I think that may be overkill and look like crap. Thanks.

Hi there! I am just staring in awe at your collection. All of my favorite movies in one place, it's phenomenal:D
I only wish I could collect the PF's, but am currently only getting the 1/6 scale figures. Keep us updated with more pictures when you get more items for your museum!
The more I see setups like these the more I lean toward abandoning 1/6 scale in favor of PF.
I have a feeling that the death knell of 1/6 for me will be when the first figure exists in both formats and direct comparisons can be made.
I'm blown away by 1/6 ROTS Sith Anakin, Jedi Luke, and the pics of Obi-Wan, Qui Gon, and Darth Maul. Hopefully the PF offerings of those characters will be even more jaw dropping. The thing I'm still on the fence about is the fact that 1/6 Darth Maul is actually much more accurate than the 1:1 bust, so the jury's still out until each individual piece is announced.

In the likeness to Ray Park. The 1/6 figure looks much more like him. How/why it worked out that way I have no idea. If I knew that a larger scale meant a guaranteed better likeness then I'd cancel all my 1/6 pre-orders right now in favor of PF.

Gruson are you going to have separate cases for ESB/ROTJ characters (and versions of existing characters) or are you just concentrating on ANH?
I wish I knew! LOL
It kind of depends what Sideshow releases too.
I will figure something out.
Well so far SS seems to be doing a pretty good job of announcing figures you already have framed photos of. :)
I'm kind of surprised you don't have Grievous. I think his fist fight with Obi-Wan Kenobi ranks right up there with the T-800 endoskeleton vs. Reese and the Predator vs. Arnie in visceral coolness. Its funny because all three of those scraps feature the robot, alien, or robot/alien giving a really sweet looking backhand that sends the hero reeling. :D
I loved seeing a scene like that in a Star Wars movie.

That's cool. Hopefully a caped General finds its way into my collection at some point but that would only be if they waited a particularly long time to announce ROTS Anakin.
I have to thank you for the pics. Your collection is part of the reason I'm now the proud owner of PF Leia exclusive 36/1000. :)

What are the dimensions of the SW case?
Gruson
09-08-2006, 07:29 AM
I will have to confirm but I believe it is 48" wide, 24" tall, and 18" deep.
It's BIG.
;)
Well it has to be to display PF's. :) I like that your setup puts them all on the same level. I still might get a curio but its really hard to find one more than 12-13 inches deep plus if you fill it some figures will unavoidably have to go on the bottom shelf.
With yours they're all at a nice level and have room to breath. Not too unlike the displays at SDCC.
And your T-Rex reminds me of just yesterday when I was watching Jurassic Park here at our house in Florida. It was thundering and lightning here so much that you could hear the windows of the house vibrating. I must say it really added to the immersion of those first scenes when the T-Rex broke loose. :D

Your Statue room is unbelievable. What do you do for a living? Sorry, have to ask...
Love the Queen and Predator setup. They look better in scale than they did AVP. The Queen was the size of a T-Rex.

Hey Gruson - there's only two things I've ever seen that look better than your set-up:
1)I can't discuss because I'm bound by a non-disclosure agreement. I'm being serious. I had to sign papers promising I would never publically state I saw what I saw!
2) The inside of Stan Winston's Studio/Office. And that is high praise - considering he's freakin' Stan Winston!
Quite a jaw dropping room! :monkey5

Thanks guys,
Yes, the endo is the 1/3 scale Cinemaquette piece. It's amazing and even better than I was expecting.
As for space, starting to get low but I only have a couple of more pieces coming. Eventually there will be a large PF LOTR display in the center of the room. Just waiting on Sideshow.....
The large black pedestals are staying, they weigh a ton, are very sturdy and some are even marble. I have not see anything better and these pieces would look silly on the floor, in a case, or on a computer desk. ;)
I got the idea from Sideshow's displays at conventions and added the background poster/images. It works perfectly IMO.

Really the black boxes look awesome and makes it look like a museum or a Sideshow booth at Comic Con the only thing you could do to make it better is put it in a bigger room. A nice 30 X 30 room would allow for a whole lot more pieces. How exactly where you able to get them made are they wood or what. Specifically what is the Star Wars one made out of:D

I know there aren't any "sticky" threads on "Show Your Shelves" but I nominate Grusons thread to be a sticky. For people looking to have the dream statue setup, there's really no comparison on how classy the layout is. Yeah, they do... They confirmed that they will be a black high gloss acrillic pedastal. I wanted to do a staggered setup (the same height I have my Predator setup now) which is why I did 36" and 26". I'll post up pix once they arrive.

Let me know how they turn out. Being acrylic, I wonder if they can support these heavy pieces.
Mine are HEAVY, made of wood with a black laminate finish.
Also, it's a good idea to post a wanted ad in your local craigslist section. I may have found someone who can make me some REALLY cheap. He is making one for my Queen and I should have it tomorrow. Hoping it turns out nice.

That is not the best picture for comparisons. Predator is closer to the camera than the Queen and also standing on a taller pedestal.
That said, the Queen from AvP was MUCH larger thatn the Queen from the ALIENS movie. The AvP Queen was about the size of a T-Rex.
My Queen is 1/4 scale and the Predator piece is close to 1/4 scale but may be slightly bigger...it's close though. Predator was a big creature too.

Yep, very nice. As I've said once before, it's a great example of quality over quantity, and consistency in the display motif. There's a real lesson there in style of presentation for most collectors - talking to myself here - I guess I've always been sort of a "more is more" guy ;)
I enjoy collecting a large number of items, but as a consequence most of my collection ends up stowed away for a future film room somewhere down the road. I enjoy and get satisfaction from at least having them now, and I guess that's fine. It's a good reminder though that if a collection just brings a sensation of clutter rather than enjoyment, it is self defeating.

Here! Here! Wise words, indeed.
That is exactly what I am trying to avoid: having my collection turn into a cluttered mess.

Very funny! ;)
I am still a collector. Always!
But the Queen was sold to a HUGE Aliens fan. N
I did buy the Sideshow bust again for $500 (could not pass on it at that price!) to replace her.
I will post some updated pics in a while.
Yes, I miss the Queen but it went to a very good home.

I hated to sell it but it was the smart thing to do.
The new owner even built a huge case for him with plexiglass and strobe lighting! I will try to get some pics.
Thanks Chuck, I still try to think I am THE Jedi Master around here.

It's always a pleasure to watch the pics. of your museum. Looking foward to your new update Gru.:)
WOW got rid of the queen! Did she just take up too much room??
Well you still have Superman and that is, IMO, your best piece.
Glad to see you also like Boba. It is a great piece. My only complaint is that you have him in the looking straight ahead pose. Not that dynamic looking IMO. You have to go with this pose. Well you don't have too but you should ;)

I agree, with you there Jaws... I'm not a PF man myself, out of my ball park. I'm Australian and the shipping is outrage on those. I like to get the exclusives on anything to maintain worth. But that Superman is the best part... Gruson you've got one of the best setups I've seen. Any chance of a new set of picture anytime soon?:D

Collection Room.
It shares a door with my home theater room though. Together they make up the "movie wing" of the house.
