Factory X - Vampyre book/box

I got this thing for Xmas. It's kind of okay, but I'm a bit disappointed. I was a little apprehensive about it since it wasn't a real book filled with Vampyre lore. But as a faux book it doesn't really work. The hinges on the lid are very obvious and keeps the thing from really looking like a book. It's really heavy too, perhaps made of polystone. But I've heard that the other recent Factory X stuff hasn't been that great and I'd think that this fits in. I'm very anxious about the quality of the slayer scythe now.

Well Dave, I got the Factory X Angelus sword, Buffy's stake, and Buffy's cross necklace. Angel's sword is excellent, very well made, and awesome detail. I'm betting the slayers sythe would be similar, except for the stake in it's handle. Buffy's stake on the other hand is disappointingly not made out of wood. It's a resin of some kind, maybe polystone, cast and painted to look like wood. What really throws it off is the copyright imprinted on the top of the stake? The cross is nice and looks as if it's screen/tv accurate, but then again the cross necklace was just a plain thick silver cross, not much detail. I was waiting for the book too, but after hearing your opinion on it I may hold off.

Im so glad you said that as Im about to get it. Got the last one at Dark Shadow Collectibles and he was kind enough to let me pay it off over time before it was shipped. How nice is that! Big thanks to you DSC! I cant wait for the sword, I got a framed and signed picture of buffy cast for xmas and im going to display it just above the sword:D

Well I have the stake and the Sword of Angelus and I look forward to the scythe....was apprehensive on the book and will probably pass on it...all the other prop replicas are really good though...love the sword although my freind constantly asks if he can borrow it for some extra fun...LOL

And yep, on the front of the box at the bottom it says something like 'This is used for a purely fantasy purpose. It does not have magical abilities and does not restore souls'.
