I'm XP. Today I've been getting a message popping up saying that AVG has blocked a program attempting to change my default search settings. Whats that about?

I had to reboot my work and main pc (I don't share thumbdribes between them), and just updated norton and windows updatte. I had a trusted link in aan email and it wouldn't open the link and crashed my browser. Was this just for IE?
