Rise/Pursuit of Cobra toy thread

So I read elsewhere that ROC products were out this weekend so I hit a local target and sure enough there was an endcap full of figures, vehicles and space for the PIT (which was gone). I was NOT planning on purchasing anything ROC but after looking at all the figures they had I actually found myself wanting a few. First off these things are WAY overpriced with figures coming in at a hefty $7.99, the Star Wars figures by comparison come in at 7.49. The most overpriced items though were the small vehicles that clock in at 17.99$ which should be no more than the 25TH ann. vehicles which were bigger in size and came in at 14.99. The Night Raven was $39.99 and the PIT was $99.99.

So I walked out of the store with two Snake Eyes figures, ninja commando with sculpted lips (ugh) and the better of the two IMO, Snake Eyes Paris Pursuit. I really like the trenchcoat on this figure and it comes with Timber so I was sold. I would of purchased a Baroness had she been there too.

I got Cobra Commander. Its a decent figure, but a terrible Cobra Commander. It was like a train wreck though, I couldn't look away. I had to get him for his horridness. I'll probably pick up a Snake Eyes, Destro, and Baroness though. Just not sure on which versions. I'll probably get the SDCC Destro and call Destro good. I might get the Doctor too to go with Cobra Commander. Ugh. I'm not liking the sound of this :lol

Its better than giving them $8 at the box office. The toy line doing well insures the GI Joe line will continue, not how well it does at the box office. Hasbro is banking on the toys selling well. If they don't, they've basically said Joes will be canceled for a while. I think I made a good choice.

Is it better to support this garbage for a few months so the 25th Anniversary figures can come back, or not support it and let the Joe line die?

Still picking up all of the Sideshow figures though. They are by far the best Joe items ever. I just fear if Hasbro cancels the Joe line for a while that they might pull the plug on Sideshow. Supporting RoC figures might in a round about way be supporting the Sideshow Joes.

C' mon! here we go again! Look, we had threads upon threads that serve no other purpose than to funnel hate and bashing toward a movie none us have seen. Look, I get it, you hate the movie. You hate everything associated with the movie. Now that we've established this fact can we please get back to topic and talk toys? if you still have the need to bash please do so here

Um..... No? :huh

P.S. Don't buy this trash, it supports the film. :lol

I gave the Thread the same rating as the figures (and movie).

I don't care for the movie toys. There might be a couple Resolute figures in the mix via the two packs but that's the only thing that interests me. I've seen most of the movie stuff on the Joe board I visit and (to me) it's not GI Joe, not even a distant resemblance. That said I'm pretty much done with the Joe movie threads as I've said my piece(s) several times. That and there's just to much going on right now.

I can clearly remember the day in the summer of '99, standing in line with a Captain Tarpals action figure in my hand when I suddenly thought; "Whoa, hold up. Why the hell am I buying this? Didn't I hate Phantom Menace???"
I've got a feeling that the ROC line will be producing much of the same phenomena.

I got Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. They're nice enough updates to the characters, and remain true to the original design more or less.

I agree that everything's overpriced, though, and I suspect one of the reasons to be all the spring-loaded weapons that come with EVERYTHING. It's really, really annoying. I would have bought the Ferret had it come with its original parts, but no... and I was all ready to buy the Armored Panther so I could have a camo Armadillo (at least you can - presumably - take off the launchers with that one), but they wanted $25 CDN for that at TRU! No thanks!

We just got back from Target and they had a HUGE display of GI Joe ROC figures and vehicles and I must admit, they were pretty neat. I am pretty sure they had every figure released to date. The Night Raven was cool and they had a Ferret with Scrap Iron. I was tempted to pick up the Crimson Guard just because the fake-red chrome looked nice but held back and walked away. Cobra Commander's face still looks like a vagina.

I dig Firefly. I'll buy him for sure.

Maybe some Cobras, cuz they look like Star Wars characters, and will fit in there.
