Hey everyone,
I really like these boards and am ready to get freaky. I have been lurking for a few weeks and people here seem to be really friendly which is a nice change of pace from other message boards. Let me tell you a little bit about myself:

I am in my late twenties and have been collecting figures since I was a kid. I have been a fan of larger scale figures since my childhood when I bought the 1977 large scale Darth Vader action doll. I used to collect quite a bit but I no longer have the money to do so. However, that does not keep me from being able to admire the wonderful collectibles that comapines like Sideshow produce as well as share in the joy of other collectors. I am determined to save up enough to collect Sideshow's 1/6th scale Star Wars line as it is the toy line that I have been waiting for ever since I wondered why my original large scale Darth Vader doll didn't have a more accurate sculpt.

I have always been fascinted by fantasy so the properties I am interested in reflect that. Star Wars is my all time favorite property and I like any thing that comes from that. I really like Harry Potter and would love for Sideshow to get the license to do some Potter 12" figures. Lord of the Rings is cool as well. SInce I grew up in the 1980's I also have a particular fondness for Master of the Universe.

Well anyway, that's me. Try not to go overboard on the hazing now.

Welcome, zeiss! Now is a good time to get into Sideshow's Star Wars 12" line, since it is just barely getting started. I have a feeling that a few years from now, there will be a lot of collectors yearning for the good old days when a Sideshow Luke or Anakin could be had for only $50. This will be one of the all time great lines of Star Wars figures-- good luck picking up as many as you can!

I completely agree. This will be THE line to have in the next couple of years. I don't know how I will manage it, but I am determiend to get each and every Sideshow Star Wars 1/6th figure as the are released. I can honestly say that I haven't been this excited about a line in a long time...if ever.

I agree that a Harry Potter 12" line would be awesome!

Thanks for the welcome. A Harry Potter line would be so cool. There is such a richness to the costumes that the characters wear and I think Sideshow would have a ball with the line. Of course, after Star Wars I don't know if Sideshow will be eager to tackle yet another line with such a fanatical following.

If they can handle the fanaticism of Star Wars and LotR then HP should be cake!

And welcome Zeiss - fresh meat is always welcome!

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Darklord Dave, the more I think about it, the more I see your point. If anyone could handle all of those high profile properties, it would be Sideshow. Ah, with the Harry Potter license, the posiblities are endless. The only license that would be cooler would be Indiana Jones. Now THAT is a license I REALLY want Sisdeshow to get.

They have done several New Line properties, which I believe is connected to Warner Bros, who has the rights to Harry Potter film merchandise. I guess it's not out of the question as far as relationships with the studios go. But I'm not sure Sideshow would put all that time and effort into such an obscure, untested name like this "Harry Potter" character.

Ha.Ha. Yeah, it is pretty obscure. Definitely risky. It is not like This Harry Potter brand has any colorful and interesting looking characters that would attract people's attention. Yeah, Sideshow better stay away from this one. :D
