Hi All, :wave:D

I'm branching out and would like to get several Marvel character statues but i'm really not sure what there is to buy in terms of statues or I where I could get them from

The kind of things I would be intersted in are:

Good Spidey Statue
X-Men- Wolverine,Storm,Cyclops,Magneto and Mistique-to name but a few.

I would also like a decent HULK statue.

If anyone could kindly let me know who makes and sells these things I would be truly grateful.
Any help would be fantastic as I know nothing, my only experience with statues has been SSWeta LOTRi, so I'm branching out.

Hence: I'm a Marvel Virgin !

Thanks folks I hope you can help me
Thanks for reading

Just stay away from that Bowen fella...

Don't do it! You will be broke forever like me. Sideshow marvel is better than bowen IMHO, I know some people may want to shoot me, but the paint job on sideshow is a lot better. Bowen paint jobs are a bit on the sloppy side.

My favorite bowen so far is the silver surfer, really classy. I like the bowen magneto because his outstretched hand has a magnet in it and you can hang keys from it. Deadpool looks nice. Had to get bown nightcrawler because he's my favorite xmen, and it was a decent sculpt but on the small side.

Thanks for your advice, I'll have a look at those two sites then.

Many thanks.

Hmmm... how strange that no one introduced you to Attakus... Top notch material there, even if the choice is a bit limited. Still, have a look and decide for yourself:

I've seen several of their Marvel pieces in real, and they rock.

The thing about Bowen is that prices usually hold like sideshow and their stuff is limited. There's an old Bowen Wolverine on sentinel that is nice, all sold out but you can find it on ebay. I think it is on the small side. I have basically decided to pick and choose Bowen stuff. His punisher is good as well. You can find a whole gallery of old and new statues on Azog's site. Bowen also has his own site.

Some people like Hard Hero which has come out with a few like captain america, submariner, silver surfer on board, etc. I haven't bought any so I can't speak to the quality. I think there are posts here that talk about Hard Hero.

I stay away from Diamond Select Marvel, no legit reason really, I find that they don't hold their prices well and I don't want to sink more money into knick knacks. Other people can hopefully recommend some they like but I can't comment. I own one spider man statue that is from them, it is suspended in mid air by thick webbing. It's a nice sculpt but the webbing didn't come out right. It's hard to find a spiderman statue that sort of show him off in a dynamic pose, so I went with Diamond on him.

I agree Attakus is top notch quality wise, I think they make the best statues in terms of paint ops and most of their sculpts are really good. Their spidey is worth considering. There's something about the poses that don't interest me so I have not collected any. I buy Attakus' star wars stuff, it is first rate.

I second Kierb's responses... Bowen is the forefront of Marvel items as of today, with SS and Diamond following, of course IMO SS's is ahead, but Diamond has improved by leaps and bounds this year especially with the prereleases they have shown....

I have a mostly Marvel Collection and diverse to boot, I have started to pick up more Diamond, especially since they started number the bases, checkout the images in my gallery:

Check out Azog's pricelist as well, the pictures there are great. Thanks for the gallery link Azog. The Diamond Gambit has a better sculpt than the Bowen one IMHO. The Diamond Green Lantern is excellent, I have not seen that one before. I have seen the Diamond Wolverine in person, and it is on the small side, but very well done. So, I have to agree that Diamond is improving. I think one of the best Marvel statues is the SS Woverine vs. Sabertooth diaroma, it is on the small side and it does have the ugly neck lines, but the sculpt and paint job are first rate.

As far as Hulks go, I think both Attakus and Bowen have nice ones.

Hi all, :wave

Thank you for all your help and ideas.
Thank you also AA and Azog your links-incredible Collection Azog!.
They are all awesome statues ! I especially like the Nightcrawler !, that looks like an amazing sculpt.

I was looking on the Godfather's Website and I have to say I think the best thing I have seen so far IMO in the Silver Surfer Statue by Diamond select :drool , that really does look stunning. So thank you again to those who recommended it.

I'm going to keep looking through all the sites mentioned and hopefully get me some Marvel goodies.:banana

Thanks again everyone, you have all been a great help :bow :bow

Take care

The nightcrawler is great, but on the small side, he is a little overwhelmed by the smoke plumes, but I am very happy with the statue. I think he's getting hard to find, I bought him when he first went out on the market from Marc, asked him to order it for me.

The marvel silver surfer never got popular for some reason. You can get the bowen one only on ebay. I passed on it last May when it was selling for around 160 because I had no money, now it is around 250, there are two versions: painted and chrome and the painted is now around 380. The Hard Hero version is the next most popular I think and still available at some sites. The deadpool statue is still being sold and I would say that it is better than the picture. Finally decided to buy it after seeing it in person. It's a slight departure from previous statues in that he is entirely glossy paint. I'm on the fence with Dr. Strange right now, don't really like the fanned out cape, so I will probably pass on him. He's the most recent put out by Bowen in addition to spidey

By the way, I think SS' Dr. Doom is amazing. Consider getting him if you haven't.

The Diamond Green Lantern is excellent, I have not seen that one before.

Jumping into the Marvel U eh? Well Marvel has licenses with everyone so there is a glut of MU product. Depends on the style you like. Bowen, as everyone has mentioned, is the Godfather of the mini-bust. Quality and customer service is on par with SS. There has been some paint issues from time to time but no more so than other companies. Hard Hero is just starting out with their Marvel line. They are a bit bigger in size than Bowen fullsize pieces but the quality is top notch from what I've seen. Sculpted by Seth Vandable, the new line is impressive. Bowen tends to lean toward more "real world" interpretations of the characters where HH is a bit more "cartoony" or comicy. Another issue is price. Mini-busts run from $35 to $65 normally from Bowen while fullsizes generally start at $125 up to $200. If your looking to be a hardcore Bowen collector the older "Phase 1" pieces are obviously more expensive and highly sought after. The Silver Surfer chrome mini bust that was a Chicago con exclusive limited to 500 is the most expensive reaching into the $900 and over range on Ebay. I've been collecting Bowen pieces since day 1 so I'm a bit biased towards his product but all the companies mentioned do great work in their own way. Look at the Doom piece SS did. That is a superb piece! On the other hand I haven't liked any of the rest from that line for various reasons. Diamond Select's Thanos is one of the greatest pieces they have done. Hard Hero's Silver Surfer is stunning! Bowen's Thor! Attakus Spidey! Like I said there's a glut of Marvel product. It's limited to your personal tastes and wallet. If you need any help drop me a pm.

See that's what's great about DC - no choice - you have to take DC Direct or nothing at all....

I have to say though that since I've started picking up the DC statues they all look better in person. Like that Green Lantern above - I just got him and the face sculpt which looks a fit forced in photos actually suits the statue well.

Hi Uruk :wave

Yeah, what can I say,now LOTR 1/6 Poly has stopped I need a new vice :D .
I have a couple of the Kong statues on order but I have always really liked Marvel, just never got into the statues, having said that I didnt know about them until I came here.Even when I first joined here I still didnt visit the Marvel section, was just concentrating on LOTR, time to broaden my horizons me thinks :D
Thanks for all your advice and the pm offer, I may need to take you up on that?, there seems to be a lot out there and any help is very much appreciated.
From your explanations I think Bowen would be the way to go as I prefer the 'real-world' as opposed to the 'cartoony' version.

Thanks again for all your help and advice, I have a lot to research !
