At least this means we'll almost definitely be getting an Anya.

he looks superb, face is pretty much perfect!I REALLY hope the end product looks like that, that paintjob is phenomenal!!! Just look at the detail on the head!!! and I love the clothes(from what I can tell)!! I wanted giles but this will do! YAY!!! thanks sideshow! Youve made my day, Im feeling happy now! Great to see we'll get anya!

BUT sideshow, if you make Anyanka PLEASE make her from "the Wish" she looks SOOOO much better as a vengence demon in that epo that the makeup done in the later seasons (6 and 7)
I guess this will come out later next year, which is a very good thing, Im up to the clouds in things I need to save for and buy!!
again, THANKS.

He looks good, I'm glad we're getting another demon :D I wonder when he'll be up for pre-order? I never receive the newsletter, so I won't be able to find out.

Disappointed, but definitely not surprised. I will probably buy it to support the line.

Then again , how many Kindestods and D'hoffryns that i don't want am I going to have to buy to get a full complement of Scoobies?

11-25-2005, 07:10 AM
He's very cool looking, but I won't be picking him up. I don't have much interest in an Anya. If they made her, I wouldn't buy her, and he really wouldn't fit in my collection if she wasn't in it.

And I'll admit it - I'm bitter that it wasn't Giles. He's the only Buffy figure that I would buy at this point (that hasn't already been released).

I don't buy the Buffy line, but I feel for all you collectors waiting for Giles. To not have him in a collection is wrong.

I'm also disappointed that it wasn't Giles because Giles is one of my favorite characters and I know he'll make such a great figure. But, D'Hoffryn looks great and he's a great recurring demon character so it makes sense that they'd do a figure of him, especially with his connection to Anya. It's just that I would have been happier if we had gotten a Giles first and then a D'Hoffryn announcement. I'll be getting him anyway and will be hoping for an Anyanka to go with him (and yes, from "The Wish" would be the best sculpt to do).

Now, back to my longing for that much desired Giles figure!!

11-25-2005, 09:06 AM
Would've rather see Cordy or Giles or even an evil Willow. I have no interest in this guy or the possible Anyanka that might follow.

11-25-2005, 09:47 AM
I would've prefered a Giles myself, not real big on the monsters. I have all the Scoobies displayed in a 1/6 scale cemetary I made. I bought Dru and the Master and I preordered Darla even though I'd have rather had Dru and Darla without the vamp make up. I would like an Anya as I thought she was one of the funniest characters on the show, but I for one would prefer it look like her human version more than Anyanka.
Anyway ..my display is needing a Giles to feel complete:banghead

EDIT: Firefly, This pic is an older one more has been added including Oz and Xander but you'll get the idea.

Would love to see a photo of that cemetary you did! Any chance you can post it for us?!

Y'all need therapy if you aint excited to see this fella in 1/6th! Some of the best news in the hobby in a long time, and from what I can tell they did a bang up job of the sculpt.

Way to go Sideshow!!

I agree Hardcase, This is very exciting news! :banana
Looks great from what I can see.
I wonder what the exclusive will be? Maybe the figure is the exclusive?
I'll order one as soon as it goes up.

11-25-2005, 02:53 PM
Well, time to retire another faux banner as another figure on my wish list becomes a reality.

I'm curious to see how the Lord of Arashmahar will be accessorized, as D'Hoffryn traveled pretty light.

I can think of the talisman he gave to Willow in "Something Blue," which she used to summon him in "Selfless," but not much else. Anyone have any other suggestions?

If the figure itself is not a web exclusive, how about Hoffie in his dress robes from "Hell's Bells."

And regarding Giles getting edged out again, to quote D'Hoffryn: "Never go for the kill when you can go for the pain."

I'm surprised. I thought it was going to be Giles. Either way, it looks good and I will be ordering. :)

I'm quite happy as well. :banana

Good choice by SS. Giles would of been nice but I'm not disapointed.

I'm glad we're getting another demon. I'm not a casual collector, but if I were looking at the line from the outside I'd see a cool monster - not a tweedy guy in suit.

And think about it - they've said the line is slowing down but also that we'd definitely get all the Scoobs. So if they announced Giles I'd really think the line was over.

Now there's still hope!

D'Hoffryn...............and lovin' it. :banana :banana :banana

I am happy to see him and like Dave said, this makes me think there is more to come. We'll get Giles eventually. They have to hold some on reserve.

I hope we get Anyanka too because I love it when the figures have someone who matches up with them.

11-25-2005, 11:51 PM
Never thought we'd see this figure from SSC. I'm thrilled. One of my favorite characters by far. As for accessories, aside from the talisman, how about D'Hoffryn's wedding present?

I'm half way through the second season of Buffy... when does THIS baddie step into the picture?

Season 3 I believe. He plays an important role in the story of the Anya character who also shows up in season 3. Actually the best thing about them choosing to make him is they pretty much *have* to make an Anya soon. Otherwise there's no point to making him. And if they make Anya they might as well make Giles and Dawn too, since they'd probably be more popular.

We first meet D'Hoffryn in Season 3's "Dopplegangland." He appears again in Season 4 in "Something Blue, "Season 6 in "Hell's Bells," and in Season 7 in "Selfless."

Andy Umberger, who played D'Hoffryn, also appeared in two of Joss Whedon's other shows, as Dr. Ronald Meltzer in the Season 1 Angel episode "I Fall To Pieces," and as Durtmunder Captain in the Firefly episode "Serenity."

I hope Giles is a sure thing. But I'm not taking it for granted. I did that once and now I don't have a Faramir. :(

11-26-2005, 04:33 PM
Yeah. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that nothing is sure.

I expect to get a Giles. But I'm not going to hold my breath.

There are many cool Buffy villains, but I've always been more into the core characters. They were what made me fall in love with Buffy when it started airing.

I kind of expect Anya before Giles at this point, because of D'Hoffryn. That's another reason why I was so disappointed when I saw the new figure announcement. Anya isn't a favorite character of mine, so I won't buy her. I always felt she was just a Cordelia replacement.

11-26-2005, 10:07 PM
I think the fact that we're getting these "lesser" characters is a good sign of SSC's faith in the line's long-term viability. Giles will se plastic.

As Spike said: Oh, poor Watcher. Did your life pass before your eyes? Cuppa tea, cuppa tea, almost got shagged, cuppa tea?

I did go up a bit early last week, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Hopefully it will be up for order this Friday.

I would think we will see the pre order in tomorrow's newsletter.

Wow, I really can't wait. I am so excited about buying a figure that I don't really want, just so that Sideshow MIGHT do the figures that I really do want, sometime in the dim, distant future.:banghead

Here I am, brain the size of a planet and all I can do is moan about the lack of a tweedy, English Librarian dolly. Had you told me this 27 years ago, I think I would have ended it all then!!!!!:horror

OK I promise this is my last moan....................why is my nose growing mommy?

11-30-2005, 10:52 AM
i love this figure,we should get anya/anyanka now!!
i would have preffered giles but this looks cool and im getting it.

just imagine a lovely hells bells anya:peace

At the bottom of a huge pile of paper that I've just cleared from my desk, I found a list of "wants" that I prepared about a year ago. (It was a very large pile!). The list was of Buffy figures that I hoped Sideshow would produce over the next couple of years:
The Good guys were Xander, Giles, Cordelia, Anya and Tara.
(Oz must have already been announced)
The Bad Guys were: Drusilla, Darla, D'Hoffryn, The Judge and Caleb

So I must eat humble pie and say that I did want D'Hoffryn after all and was merely disappointed by the timing v. Giles. In fact overall Sideshow are doing a pretty good job of working their way through that list.

Due respect!

I apologise for having become a whingeing pom/moaning Brit!!!!!!:angelsmil

Giles and Cordelia are the only two must haves left for me when it comes to Buffy...(I would love a Jenny Calendar...but I don't expect her, so I don't count her). They've made most of the best bad guys, IMO - Drusilla, Spike, the Master, Darla (though I hate the outfit).... The mayor was a major big bad, but I don't think he would be all that good of a figure.

I dislike a lot of the later season characters though, like Dawn, Anya, etc, and thought a lot of the villains were horrible. I'm biased there... I'm not sure how many Buffy figures I'll end up with because I have a few left I want to buy, but my Buffy collection will no doubt represent the first seasons of Buffy and not the later seasons.
