A butcher? Meh...

Kinda funny for a zombie to be cutting up meat when his instincts would be to eat it?

Does seem more like a Texas Chainsaw Massacre figure rather than a Zombie Butcher. I don't get it?

And last night I was about to start a thread, "Is the Dead line Dead?" because it seems like it's been awhile since we've seen a 12" release.

Edit: Although I do like the "zombie" characteristics/movement at the very end of the video.

I don't think so, it is just a zombie that used to be a Butcher. I will agree that the video wasn't very "zombie"-ish because I would agree it would just want to eat the guy instead of chop him up but I love it.

I want Loose Ends Zombies. We saw the Babysitter attack someone in the Containment Suit, still need one of those. Back when the Corporate Spokesperson was being teased there was a news reel that said that a famous Hollywood starlet was attacked and bitten in one of the scrolls on the bottom, still need the "Movie Star" Zombie. The Street Prophet attacked and killed "Wolf" still need him... Shay "The Babysitter" went to Catholic School as is known from her accessories, the Priest was bitten "Harbinger" but there would be no reason for Shay to come across him especially given that she was a "bad girl" but we do know that when she was bitten she had a detention slip which means there is a middleman between the Babysitter and the Harbinger, someone who would have had to have contact with both so its gotta be a teacher or a Nun...I want those which would be awesome additions before anything else.

Yeah, thats why I was sort of disapointed with 'the Butcher'. SS should have done those characters first. Haz Mat has been asked for since...I dunno, going on year 2 and nothing?

i love the dead line a bunch.............i was resistant at first to embrace it but it kinda grew on me. i dont have them all as of yet and probably never will acquire PZ but its still a fun line.
but the more ssc promotes the dead with the animations that they do makes me want to see a whole animated zombie film/movie from whover they get to do it for them. i think that would be pretty kick ass.

Actually, no one is really expecting a Haz Mat or Wolf. Just a mere guess on our part. I believe we may see wolf this upcoming spook. It would make sense to release him then.

I also wonder how well 'Butcher' will sell? Prophet and Harbringer are both in stock and Prophet is on the GC list...Harb is def soon to follow.

I think the price on these figures have put off a lot of people. They are priced too high cosidering they are not a licensed line. The butcher might sell a little better because a SDCC figure, but it might end up like the Harbinder and Prophet.

It may be the price, or the recent hike in ES. The Dead line is popular, but NOT THAT popular :Looks at Harbringer ES:.

The Josh

Unless of course it is Zombie Bach. :D

But I'm sure you're right. It just is unusual to see an accessory pictured better than the figure. That's what got me thinking it might be a mask. But hey, he could have been a pyscho butcher before a zombie butcher :lol I mean, zombie Leatherface wouldn't be that much of a stretch.

This guy doesn't really blow my skirt up. He doesn't look like a real person. . . err, at least doesn't look like he USED to be a real person. The giant straps on his apron, the way his head just kinda sits on his shoulders. Just a real plain outfit. The headsculpt just doesn't grab me, either.

The line would blow if all the zombies were in advanced stages of decomp. I like the variety of the different levels of infection from the freshly bitten 1206, to the completely rotten 805. Like background characters, it adds a level of depth to the line.

It's a funny situation. 28 Days was marketed as a zombie flick when it's actually in the plague genre. And yes, you're correct, it's just "infected." Though the flipside to that coin is that what we call zombies aren't really zombies, they're ghouls. Zombies are people who are alive but give off the appearance of being dead, think voodoo. I just picked up a SST Leatherface recently and I gotta say, I think this guy is a reworked Leatherface ( i.e they changed his head and clothes some)

Gekko

The early dead figures were pretty much all reuse on clothing and accessories... but I think at least the priest is new, I've never seen his robes before.

But I don't think the Butcher is the same outfit as leather face... TCM had thinner straps on the smock, long sleeves and dark pants. Pretty sure this is a new clothing pattern.

Although, I may be wrong about the smock... I though the collar on the Butcher was the straps.

Correct, except that ghouls are eaters of the dead, not the living (and not necessarily undead themselves). Flesh-eating "zombies" are an invention of George Romero and John Russo. I prefer the term cannibal dead.

But seeing that the Harbinger, Street Prophet, and even one of the Babysitters are all still available so long after their releases, and with the edition sizes about the same as the new Butcher, I was thinking these would be available after the convention. Yep, any figure past the first 3 seems to be fairly easy/cheap to get later on for less than retail.

This one is a fairly low ES... but even still I don't think (at least in the short term) he's going to jump in price.

He's still aval for pick up on the site. Maybe they'll go "international" with the left-overs.

Don't ignore the fact that he's an SDCC Ex. With the exception of 1025 who was overkilled via variants, they have a track record of being hard to come by after selling out. ;) Have a peek at ebaY for proof. :D

This figure reminds me of this album but instead of pieces of meat it would be nice to use human limbs. Even the pig's head is already in the background.

Do you mean you are picking it up or having someone pick it up for you. Whoever's name is on the order has to be the one picking it up. You need to show photo ID. So you can't have a friend pick one up for you if your friend didn't order it.

Good for you. If I have to cancel (I have a couple days to decide ) the Butcher unfortunately will probably be the first to go.

Welp I made the decision to cancel the Butcher, too much stuff coming and he was last on my list. Maybe I will pick him up in the future but there are too many other Dead figures I need to get first.

:eek Just got my charge for this guy .. $95 !!! I love these figures, but with the steady increase in the price, I might have to rethink my love of them - either that, or I'm going to have to get out of the other lines.

Buttmunch
07-15-2009, 12:14 PM
The biggest mistake with the Dead line was moving to the Pro and charging $10-$20 more because of that. If these can stay at $60 or so MAX, they will probably make more money since they could sell more at the lower cost rather than fewer at the higher costs. Only really awesome zombies (and those already dedicated to the line) are going to sell.

I was charged $95 too but I am pretty sure its only that high because its a preauth. I expect him to ship at around $85.

I only noticed just now that the figure finally appears to be sold out! Glad I reordered him twenty minutes after I cancelled my original order. Funny thing is, I must have cancelled in the exact invoice sweet spot, because I was charged twice. Even though my original order showed as cancelled, I was still charged for it. But SS is taking care of that situation.

Can't wait for next week! I haven't added a figure to my Dead collection in quite some time. Plus it will be very fun to see all the new previews of items to come.
