1st off, I Love the Sideshow Jedi Luke. I'm excited as hell that its coming out
(though I'd like it to have less of the wide eyed scared look, but beggers
can't be choosers, I guess) But since Sideshow wasn't creating any Lukes
back in the day... I had to come up with my own!
I haven't posted in a while & I haven't shown this fig since I created it way
back in either '99 or 2000, so with the release of the Sideshow Luke, I figured
I'd hunt down those ol' pics & repost them now (what the heck, right?)
Here's the back story:
Lonnie (TK 570) & Jim (eydlehands) had just knocked the 1/6 world on it's ASS with insanely cool
lifelike sculpts & I jumped on with 1 of the first public projects that was dear
to my heart; my favorite Jedi of ALL TIME... ROTJ Luke! After months of back
& forths, all 3 of us ended up LOVING what came out from our opinions & Jims talents:

We only created about 25 or so sculpts (to fund the project). I kept 2 & the
rest went to board members / friends (though I think Lonnie might've kept 1
or 2 unpainted ones for himself before I destroyed the master & mold...
wonder if he still has those... Hmmmmm.
(here's what I ended up with)

While working with them on this, I also worked with Kris from Civies (is she
still around? I'm soo lost nowadays) in making the ULTIMATE Jedi Luke garb.
To her credit, I hassled her for a better part of a YEAR to bring what was
onscreen to 1/6 life! I think she did 1 HELL of a job!
(Here we see Luke holding an X-Wing drive shaft that's shaped like his saber!)

People were photoshopping their sabers to give it that glow, but I wanted my
saber to look like that while standing on my shelf... so I toyed around with
thicker acrylic rods that might've had the same thickness as the saber glow.

The GREATEST thing about Kris' work on the inner jumpsuit was that is was
IDENTICAL to the onscreen version & even had the folding lapel with the
inner light grey lining.

As you could see here though, I never finished my work because I used DML's
short body which had the regular upper torso (his shoulders are too broad
here). I needed to swap these legs with the DML slim body top to achieve
that Hamill slim physique. (funny though how the saber doesn’t look THAT big
in this pic.) I also needed to get me a custom set of German boots from...
(OH DAMN! I forgot his screen name! But you all know who I mean, right?
Someone chime in with his name please?) but I never got arond to grabbing a
set... Hmmm, maybe I'm not too late! Ain't his footrest cool though?

The sculpts paintjob in the pics above was done by none other than the
wonderfully talented Kim (aka Pacobird) BUT I also had the honor of John
(Boot25) working his magic on Luke as well:

This was a labor of love & I look back on this project as 1 of the happiest
times of my life. It was all about having fun with friends / talented people &
creating something cool and original along the way. Hope you guys enjoy the pics.
