Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum but I thought that I'd make a worthwhile first posting.
Here is my 1/4 scale Christopher Reeve as Superman statue. This is the first completed casting. I'm having a movie accurate "mini costume" made for him at the moment and I can't wait to see it completed. Hope you like it!
Any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me:
chris.king2@blueyonder.co.uk

If you can't see the pic, here's a link to my photo.net page:

Great likeness. Please make sure to post pics of him in full costume when it's done.

Thanks LOTRSWfan.

I didn't sculpt the statue - I just commissioned the project and guided the sculptor on various aspects of the likeness.
I can tell you that the original sculpt was done with "super sculpey" (rather appropriately named for this project). :joy

I guess mine is going to be the guinea pig as the first one to be painted!

I will post pics for sure.

This is one piece I have wanted a LONG time now.

Thanks again for making it happen Chris!

Reeve will always be the one true Superman IMO.

Thanks for all the comments guys! Much appreciated!
This project has been ongoing since December 2004, so it's been a real labor of love. It's fantastic to see it almost completed.
Work is proceeding on the prototype costume, then once I've approved the look of it, we'll be able to offer a very limited number of castings to people who are interested. It's going to be a one-time-only run of 25. Once they're all gone, there won't be any more. That's a limited edition in the truest sense of the word!

Congratulations to Gruson who has got the first customer casting (I've got 2 castings for my own collection but those two are not being counted as part of the limited run).

If anyone else would like one of these, please contact me. It's better to email me rather than rely on me seeing your post here!

Thanks.

Gruson, will you be painting it yourself? If not, care to let us know which paintup artist you'll turn to?

Jeff Camp from the RPF will be paiting it. Example of his work:

No chance in hell I would try to paint it! LOL

Now what about a base? I was thinking of some variant of this...

Dave,

There is a base in the works. It will either be fortress of solitude-esque or it will be some kind of skyscraper motif. Just waiting to pick the best one. It won't be ready until December / January though.

how will the cape be attached? Gruson how much is Jeffs paint job gonna cost you> If you dont mind me asking!

cking

BDboystoys,

The costume and cape are going to be real fabric so the cape will attach the same way as the real costume. It will have straps which go under the arms and are tied together behind the back. All of this is obviously done before the blue shirt is fastened at the back.

If this is the same piece that was in Gruson's collection for a bit it was a real beauty. But not sure where images of it would be... it was a piece commissioned and sold a long time ago.

I think this is the one... almost looks real.

Man, that things is almost perfect, you're correct, its almost looks real. The only thing, he's got a real funny expression on his face. Other than that, he's solid.

Yeah, his expression is a bit off... but all the pics I've seen in different collections has been awe inspiring. I would buy something like this in a heartbeat.

Maybe people don't check on the dates?
About this piece, the sculptor is actually re-doing this and it looks a whole lot better. He actually did it in a way where there are two versions. Folded arms and hands on hips. Enjoy!
