Gentle Giants: Luke & Tauntaun
Posted by Jeremy on August 26, 2005:

Pre-order this 8" tall rendition of Luke Skywalker and his bipedal beast of burden at Forbidden Planet for £99.99, for delivery in February 2006, and receive a discount of £30.00 off the normal RRP of £129.99 AND get free postage. There does not seem to be any restriction on international addresses so overseas orders may get the advantage of not having to pay shipping. Thanks to Nik for the report.

v disappointed...........only 8 inches tall = tiny (for a statue)

Not buying

Re: re

Yeah I know what you mean 8 inches tall. Is very small for a statue like this.:\

Re: re

Whaw, tell me I read that wrong! :thud Oh no, I think I will have to pass. The Battle Troll is about as low as I go. :sick

Re: re

If that's 8" WITH the base, then yes, that is one tiny Luke-on-Tauntaun! Itty bitty Luke and, well, it's more of just a "Taunt", really...

Re: re

Is this still 1/7 scale? If so, it's the scale GG was going to do for dioramas.

TaunTaun 1/7 scale should be like 7-11" at the shoulders. So, I guess this could be in scale with a runt of a Tauntaun. But even the 7" should be at the shoulders...not the rest of the head and rider. I'm basing it off the 1.3-2 meters in height at shoulders as recorded in the SW.com databank

So, something seems off to me in GG marketing skills. Maybe I'm wrong though. :dunno

Re: re

You guys are nutz, I loved this piece when I saw it at the con. As usual the likeness is wonderfull and I wouldn't miss this piece.

Jesse :yay

Re: re

I didn't say I wouldn't buy it, just that I don't know if it's 1/7 scale like GG said it would be. ;)

Re: re

But then again...I hear Cinderella's slipper is an excellent likeness too. :banana

Re: re

It's a great piece, I'm still buying it , but 8" is reaaally small, I was expecting it to be bigger, I mean ... it's smaller than a Hobbit statue, Frodo is 9" tall ! If it's really the same scale as the Dewback I 'll grab it, otherwise I'll pass.

Re: re

Hey I have the Cinderella slipper, it was gift for my daughter - dare I say it is quite cool; and it comes in a monster box! :naughty

Re: re

Monster box? Are you trying to say Cinderella is wearing the slipper in the box? :lol

Or just that she had really big MAN feet? :lol

Re: re

WTF!!! 8" tall! That is worse than the Fell Beasty for size!

Seriously, I thought it would be in-scale with all of the other
GG Statues, and that would have ROCKED! :rock :rock2

Now it will only rock.

I love the Luke on Taun-Taun, and I hope somebody (Sideshow
or Attakus or GG or Kotobukiya) makes one in a scale worthy
of the characters. Next I want a WAMPA statue - but NOT a
dinky Wampa - a BIG WAMPA!!!!

Re: re

If it's in scale with the Sandtrooper on Dewback and Scout Trooper with Speeder Bike...I won't care. If smaller....>:

Re: re

I will save you all the wait, it is not in scale with the Dewback statue. Commence bashing and not ordering.

Jesse :naughty :p

Re: re

I saw this at SDCC, admittedly I didn't look at it really closely, but it seemed much taller than 8". Perhaps they mean just Luke is in 8" scale? It seemed at a glance that it WAS in the same scale as the dewback and biker scout.

8" tall is more a mini-statue. I'd would swear this thing was at least 12" tall.

Re: re

12" sounds alot better.
