I'd like leg articulation only because I hate how identical the T-800 look overall displayed together.

Jace Madan
02-11-2015, 11:28 PM
I wonder what the Ultimate T-800 will come with. The Freddy came with 3 heads, an extra hand, face mask and phone.

I imagine he will come with:

Standard head (maybe with sun glasses?)

Slightly battle-damaged head

Full battle-damaged head

Pistol

Grenade launcher (Damaged or undamaged stock?)

Bandoleer

Maybe the minigun and ammo bag

Maybe an extra torn-off interchangeable arm

The only downside is that depending on what stage of the movie and damage they choose for the rest of the body, the heads will look inaccurate on that body. I doubt they will include an: undamaged and bullet hole riddled jacket, black shirt torso, grey shirt torso and grey shirt exposed endoskeleton torso. Or clean/bullet riddled pants, undamaged, exposed endoskeleton knee damaged leg. Plus ungloved, gloved and gloved with battle damaged hands. Unless they drastically raise the price compared to how many accessories the Freddy figure got, i can't see the T-800 coming with all of this.

Same with the T-1000, he has way more than 3 head variations and his wardrobe changes about 3 times in the film (and that's not counting the battle-damaged versions of said wardrobe).

If it's Arnold, I'm guessing it's Commando or maybe more Hercules, I don't know what other franchises or characters he's done that really speak to NECA's offerings besides those and the existing Terminator and Predator lines.

I welcome more NECA movie Terminator figures, can't wait. I'm with a-dev though, how do they pull of a T-800 the likes of Freddy, I can only imagine either just BD with various parts or if it's clean, just clean. To do clean and BD in one figure would mean a lot of swappable pieces and I don't see them going there.

a-dev
02-12-2015, 11:27 AM
That was actually Jace Madan who made the Freddy point of comparison, not myself. I'm not familiar with the Freddy figures.

I didn't really consider the word ''ultimate'' meaning anything more than increased articulation in this case.

Just thinking this morning, I'm happy enough with the stance on the existing T2 T-800s - it's a happy medium, not too dramatic and not too rigid either for most scenes in the movie. On the other hand the leg stance on the T1 T-800 is very specifically Tech Noir when he's firing the Uzi - it doesn't really suit the rest of the film IMO, so if they wanna give T1 T-800 the same treatment I'm all for it - though ironically, not for more dramatic posing, instead for less dramatic posing.

Also possibly the Terminator arm in glass next to the Deluxe Terminator.

Jace Madan

Not really too interested in the Terminator:Genisys figures if all they do is make the "Present day" characters. I swear, if they make a T:G Sarah before making a proper T2 "commando" Sarah I'm gonna be pretty puzzled. I might buy some T:G future Tech-Com resistance soldiers if they make 'em though...

Also, does anyone know in the movie when the "present day" is actually supposed to be? Is it still in 1984? Our present day of 2015? Cuz, nu-Sarah looks about the same age as Sarah-Prime was in 1984, so unless they screwed around with the timeline royally and Sarah was now born in the late 80's or early 90's I dunno how that's gonna work out...

a-dev
02-13-2015, 07:35 PM
I may be all over the place as to when it's set. But 1984 definitely features and it would seem the T-800 accessed his detailed files on retrospective attitudes towards 80's fashion to advise Sarah against the big hair she originally had.

TBlake

Hope that is an Ultimate T-800. It's pretty much confirmed to be released, but I hope it's on display at Toy Fair.

Jace Madan
02-13-2015, 07:52 PM
Also, I wonder what style of design the T:G figures are going to follow. Will they be the same as the previous T1 and T2 figures? (IE: a very slightly larger scale and less articulation). Or will they be more similar to the more recent Dutch and Colonial Marine figures with a slightly smaller size and more articulation?

PharOOO

Commando? Awesome! I absolutely love that movie. Ultimate T2 T-800 sounds excellent also. If NECA is doing an Genesys (or however you spell it) I will definitely skip those figures. The Terminator movies ended with T2 & James Cameron, in my opinion.

Sarah Connor was just confirmed, although I speculate it'll be from Terminator: Genisys.

Surely the Genisys line is part of their yearly "pay-the-bills" products, but at least it's from a movie that might have potential unlike the crappy After Earth (that was eventually canned) or Carrie offerings.

The Commando figure, not loving that one. Maybe it's the paint. But if they can't even paint the prototype well how is the mass-produced figure gonna look.

I have a feeling that it is just a sort of proof-of-concept not final showing more than anything. It looks Pretty much like they took the Jungle Encounter Dutch proto and added the vest, straps, and repainted it. The arms and hands, shirtless torso and especially the legs appear to be identical to Dutch. Also under the paint, the head really looks like the Jungle Encounter Dutch head sculpt.

I mean, I guess they COULD just re-use all of those parts to make it, but I would think they would use new parts for the main body...

MaulFan
02-14-2015, 06:32 PM
You know NECA's all about recycling, I'm sure part of the reason for doing Commando is because of all the Dutch parts they can recycle.

From the hotly anticipated Terminator Genisys, coming to theaters in July 2015!

These 7” scale action figures include main characters from the upcoming movie that promises to “Reset the Future.” Assortment includes Guardian T-800 and #Endoskeleton figures. Both figures are all new, highly poseable, and completely accurate to the new movie designs.

The older “#Guardian” T-800 features the likeness of Arnold Schwarzenegger and comes with Remington shotgun accessory. The Endoskeleton figure comes with plasma cannon accessory.

Ships to Retailers in July! More info:

I still think it makes no sense for the "ultimate t 800" to come with the final BD head. I could see a cyberdyne BD head, that would go well with a less damaged body, but a perfect body with a full BD head doesn't look right...unless he comes with a detachable arm, but I doubt it.

I'm pretty sure the other figure is Sarah Connor instead of John. There's more they can do with her, with all the weapons and interchangeable heads, plus John wears a Public Enemy T shirt, and I doubt Neca will get the rights from that group. I would rather have John with a bike, after all, he's the reason the T 800 is there to begin with.

True a semi-BD head would have been a better choice as an alternate with this T-800. I guess the full BD one is there for the more casual fan who won't care how silly it looks.

Casual fans make me sick. :lol As far as the PE shirt, there's a way they can get around it, don't put the whole name, like this

http://i.imgur.com/xWcRSHJ.jpg

All you see is a few letters and it doesn't say, "public enemy". There's an "official" John Connor bobblehead, and that's what they did. HT wouldn't be able to get away with that because they use real clothing and you would be able to see all the missing letters, but Neca could get away with it.

Big Bad Toy Store has the Genisys figures up for pre-order. So far it looks like there will be only 2 figures in the first wave:

1. Guardian T-800

2. Endoskeleton (but they already sold out of pre-orders, so you have to order the set of 2 to get it there)

So, apparently they were just put up for pre-order today and they are already sold out of the Endos. I'm sure they will probably get in more though...

has this been confirmed? if yes, it's a major bummer. We already have the 3 - 7" figures already. Pretty stupid to release the same damn thing over and over again.

i've wanted an 18" Cyberdown Showdown for quite some time. The reason i ask, years back when the Predators shown at Toy Fair, they were 2-UPS and they were made into 1/4ish figures.

Yes Randy said it's 7 inches over on Twitter.

They deem it "ultimate" because of the more than normal amount of accessories (extra heads, weapons etc,), the special boxed packaging and the additional articulation, which in this case is fully articulated legs.

The Clown Prince of Crime

Yeah, the whole "ultimate" thing started with the Freddy Kruger figure, and it made sense with that character, but it doesn't really work with the T 800. Sunglasses with a grey shirt and gloves? BD head with a perfectly clean outfit? Madness!!

And still not existing in any official capacity as a toy - the goddamn teargas launcher.
What is with the refusal by any toy company to make one of those for their T-800 figure?

No mention of the headsculpts being new so I assume they're not and I was wrong before.

If I buy this it's for completism only. I honestly don't see a need for it otherwise.

If it's like the original T2 T-800 figures (which this ultimate one looks identical to from the torso and head to the arms), then swappable hands would result in breakage. Those hand peg designs are the old ball joints, before the likes of the '89 Batman and T-1000 (which are meant to be swapped out). Those would break instantly of pulled.

Hell, my very first Cyberdyne Shootout shattered as soon as I opened it. :lol

167405

For this Ultimate one, I preordered three. One to keep as is (Cyberdyne shoot out) and the other two to give the articulated legs to my Pescadero and Man or Machine. Hopefully these new heads are painted better. I know when they got to later waves like the T2:3D figure the paint got sloppy. I'll use the extra heads for my old ones if they're painted better.

The Clown Prince of Crime

Man, even the figure looks pissed :lol Well, that sucks then. I never bought any of the "old" T2 or T1 figures because I was waiting for fully articulated versions, so I'm not too familiar with those early T2 figures. Now, that they're milking the whole "ultimate" thing, I hope they revisit some of their old figures like, John McClane, Beetlejuice, and Chucky.

The only 6-7 inch Terminator figures I have are the old Kenner figures and the T3 from Mcfarlane, which are still my favorite in that scale, even though they don't move :lol I still think they look more like Arnold...a 58 year old Arnie. The Neca t800 looks a bit like a caricature, imo.

Really wondering if I'll even bother with this one. The added articulation has virtually no use since I'd pose it pretty much like the original figure anyway. It doesn't provide any new accessories and I already have an overabundance of what does come with it. I already accounted for every possible scene during the first round of Uncle Bobs NECA made and ultimately boxed a few of those away because I came to feel I had gone overboard and my shelf was looking cramped and too samey (even for my standards). So I just don't have much if any incentive here.

T-1000 and Sarah Connor would be a different story. Sarah obviously hasn't been made before. And all the old T-1000s broke or had warped legs that made him tip over. His stance, though a cool walking pose, really needed a stand.

I don't know enough about NECA Freddy figures to know if Ultimate Freddy was a reuse of parts or a new figure, but this looks like a repack of the original with articualation added a the knees and hips and possible more articulation at the elbows, the head scultps look about the same and other than the clean, no glasses head, neither really fits with what else is there unless you paint the shirt black. These just seems like a cheap cash in on hype from Genisys and reuse parts again.

Exactly, with the non-BD grey T-shirt and the gloves this one can only be fully accurate to the Cyberdyne scenes - and I can't think of much potential for dramatic poses there that really need the added leg articulation. And I wouldn't dream of setting up a completely inaccurate look by using the Sunglasses head or the BD head. Kinda useless.

If it comes with swap out flesh hands that can old the shotgun, then I suppose you'd be able to do a true Uncle Bob version, I might be tempted to spend the money if they do that, but so far from what we've seen, I get nothing new worth my money.

1. 2x Plasma Rifles (for dual-wielding action!)

2. 1 pair open hands.

3. 1 pair gun-holding hands

4. 1 pair fist hands

5. Plasma Canon/Minigun

6. Forearm in Cyberdyne glass container

7. CPU in Cyberdyne glass container.

8. A very large future war terrain base/stand with tons of skulls and debris sculpted on.

Technically he didn't state which movie they would be from though. Excellent thanks guys. Yeah from that interview I would certainly take Randy to be talking about a T2 Sarah Connor - he specifically says ''which we've never never done before'' - they could never have made an Emilia Clarke Sarah Connor before so he is surely referring to Linda Hamilton.

That's great. And if she is in this Ultimate line then they'll probably combine into one figure what McFarlane spread into 3 separate ones. I assume she'll have that shotgun which the McFarlane one didn't have and also the ability for a wider leg-stance pose.

Also the Alien stuff looked even better in the video than in any stills. Even the '79 Ripley looked like Weaver I thought. Maybe it's a weird case where you have to see it in person although I don't normally subscribe to that.

The sculpt and paint looks good, but I don't want a 70 year old T 800 wearing a hoodie. And why is he wearing a hoodie? Does he like Tom Cruise and Mission Impossible 4? Or did the director think, "We need to make him look "hip" and "modern"! What do the kids from The Big Bang Theory wear on that show? What's that...a hoodie with a jacket. Excellent!!"

Jace Madan
02-19-2015, 07:36 PM
The hoodie assists with his infiltration protocols... maybe.

Also, I was wondering, is he still a T-800 in this film? After all in T3 he was a T-850, and if the endoskeleton chassis under old man Terminator is the same as the "updated" endoskeleton we have seen pics of, he may have a new T designation. Unless the "updated" endo IS the T-800 model and the perfect T1 and T2 T-800 model endos never existed... which I hope is not the case.

Well I was disappointed by the deviations from established lore, giant T-600s that don't fit Reese's story in T1, a more Mad Max looking future than the one Cameron painted, etc.

But ignoring continuity issues, I liked what we got. I thought Bale played a good representation of Connor bringing the experiences of T2 and T3 into the character. I also really like Sam Worthington's performance, he brought a serious humanity to Terminators and he was an honorable character in the end. I also really liked the costumes, I'm still bummed I had to sell my Hot Toys figures, Connor's suit from the opening scene looks great on figures, as does Marcus Wright's blue coat outfit.

Jace Madan
02-20-2015, 12:44 PM
I liked Salvation for what it was. I thought Bale and Worthington did a good job, but I really thought Anton Yelchin did a great job as a young Kyle Reese. I always thought the inconsistencies were because the timeline changes due to the events of T1, T2 and T3. Like because of those films Judgement Day was pushed back each time, so Cyberdyne/CRS had more time to develop the terminator and Skynet technology, as well as effecting other changes to the future war setting.

Which is why originally the T-800 appeared in 2026, but in the altered timeline of Salvation they began production in 2018. And why the T-600's were heavily altered, as well as the designs of the Tank and flying H/K's.

And I can accept that things were better (resource-wise) for the resistance in 2018. I'm pretty sure most of the scenes we see of the future war in the previous films (not withstanding Sarah and John's nightmares) take place pretty late in the war (in T1 kyle is an adult after all), so I can see the salvation era resistance's resources slowly dwindling down after years and years of fighting until we get the desperate and haggard resistance seen in the earlier films.

Were there things I didn't like? Sure, but I don't detest the film or anything. I just treat it as a time-altered little side-story to the greatness of T1 and T2.

I found it criminally stupid. It's full of cliches, flat characters, a nonsense villain plot and it ends with a miraculously successful heart-transplant, by a vet, in a radioactive desert. Not a good film, let alone a good Terminator film. And I liked T3 so my standards aren't high lol.

I got rid of my 12" Pescadero because I bought it as an upgrade from Sideshow's T-800, but then Hot Toys blew them both away, but I had to sell my whole Hot Toys collection. I still have my BD T-800 and a 12" McFarlane T-850.

I bought the Battle Damaged version at FYE for $9. It was on one of their clearance tables.

I haven't gotten a Pescadero Escape Terminator yet because of those crazy prices they are selling for. That and Ive been hoping that NECA would make a 1/4 scale version.

I remember Toys R Us' had shelves full of them. FYE had a ton of the Battle Damaged version too. I picked up the regular and Battle damaged, still have them, but man, seeing those prices I should have bought more. They even went to clearance if I remember correctly.

That was a cool line. I'm happy with the ones I have. Would have been nice if NECA made a T-1000, atleast an all chrome cop.

They did make an all chrome T-1000, it was an SDCC exclusive

No, they're 1/4 scale. NECA's always done 1/4 scale, even in the old days, 1/4 and 7", I know licensing can often be a conflict for 12" as that's popular with HT and Sideshow and now there are even more companies and despite the large difference in quality and price, these companies go for exclusive rights to the scale which means NECA can't do it, but it's curious why they even do the few they do, so few compared to 7" and 1/4 scale offerings. It's a shame, their 12" stuff is nice for what you pay, I love my BD T-800 after a little repaint and Godzilla is amazing.

Didn't think they were.

I like the options too. For what they are I do enjoy them. Neca's battle damaged T-800 is standing proudly right next to HT's T1, Endo, and T-600.

I'd love to have the HT and/or Enterbay BD T-800, but the biggest flaw of NECA for me is just being a single pose and all plastic so it's not a bad compromise, the sculpt is spot on, the other two are just more pose choices and a more refined paint job on top of cloth costumes.

Digging it aswell, though it looks like it needs some work. And I'm not even sure where it needs work but there is just something slightly off about the likeness. Love the older grizzled look though! The T-1000 looks great too. Hoping Neca fine tune both before release

Somewhat ironic isn't it that a young T-1000 who is seen legging it and jumping around in the trailer is the more stiff and rigid of the figures.

Evidently they didn't yet (possibly still don't) have their new Ultimate T-1000 done.

MaulFan
04-07-2015, 10:11 AM
Even if they finish and ultimate T-1000, I'm sure part of them taking on Genisys was because they could recycle parts, sell the Endo yet again, sell T-1000 with a new head or two, only full new figure is Arnold, and I'm betting they could do a BD variant or something with that too, probably using the recyclable license to support releasing ultimates from the popular films.

NECA said that the ad pics of the Asian T-1000 are just for product purposes only. The figure will be super articulated and have poseable legs. That's just the old body done up for solicitation.

They also stated that Ultimate T2 Sarah Connor is up next, followed by Ultimate Robert Patrick T-1000.

As for the Genisys line, I'll be passing on all of it. I can't see myself buying any of them when the classic T2 figures will be available alongside them. Why go with a weird looking Guardian "Pops" when there's a T2 super articulated Arnie with a better sculpt? Why go with Asian T-1000 when there's a better figure on the way from T2. Unless Genisys ends up being a masterpiece and the trailers are just misleading about it's quality, I'm avoiding it's merch like the plague. The movie as of now looks awful.

As for NECA's sculpts, that Pops doesn't look like Arnie to me, it reminds me of these,

T1 needs it more - the Tech Noir's wide leg stance was very specific to that scene and doesn't really suit the other figures. Any Ultimates they make for T1 will be bought. I'm skipping the T2 version of T-800 this time, just have no need for it. The old figure had a neutral enough leg pose and I wouldn't pose it any other way even with the extra articulation.

So even if it's not in a 2-pack, he needs a simultaneously released T-800. And NECA haven't taken any opportunity to do that so it seems clear to me that, unfortunately, John isn't happening and as ever we are left with an incomplete collection for representing the story of T2.
