Seeing how good Hot Toys has become made me think how cool a Brandon Lee as Eric Draven figure would be. It would be great if Hot Toys did this. Consider this thread a petition, i hope it will do well:D.
So, if you want an Eric Draven movie masterpiece figure, contribute to this thread.

it's time people. it has to happen. but my bet's with enterbay. hot toys would do an amazing job. but like br said, i want enterbay to do this one because of its links with the lee estate. if it happens, it'll be something special.

I would buy one. Unfortunately there is a Crow remake in the works right now with Stephen Norrington (Blade, League of Ext. Gentlemen) at the helm. He wants to make it "realistic."
Because that's what The Crow needs - to get rid of all that silly dark imagery that, ya know, defined it.

that is the most shocking remake news i've heard so far! hopefully it's not even a remake but a sequel of some sort which DOESN'T use the eric draven character. unfortunately ed pressman is a complete whore, especially when it comes to the crow franchise (did you SEE wicked prayer?). and i agree with you about the realistic style. sounds like norrington is just trying to cash in on nolan's use of realism. unfortunately, that only works well for a human character with no powers, who's supposed to be based in the real world. he doesn't seem to know what he's talking about - documentary style, but making the character more mysterious? sounds like borrocks to me.
and league of extraordinary gentlemen SUCKED - i'm glad he took the time off to reflect on his misconduct. let's hope he learned something useful from it - not to go from making a great movie (blade) to one that stinks and expecting everyone to love it.

I personally would prefer a comic book based Eric -- I even went back to my custom sculpt as a result of this thread last night -- but I would also love a Brandon Lee film version, too. Enterbay would be the way to go for me, but mostly for their shifting eye tech and their association with the Lee Estate.
As for the sequels, they never existed in my eyes. Sadly, the one that quite possibly should have was dismissed by Miramax/Dimension in its story pitch phase. Funny, how after the first film I thought it would be awesome if there was a female Crow. Coincidentally, James O'Barr apparently thought the same:

It will be a remake using the original story:horror. Brandon Lee died tragically during the making of this film so i think it is really of poor taste to remake it, Brandon Lee deserves to be the only Eric Draven!
Plus Norrington is plain horrible in everything he has done. He can't direct.
For the crow comic book version, dragonfly has two great statues, i have them and love them. I want Hot Toys to make Lee as Draven.

Wouldn't Hot Toys have to have a few meetings, discuss budget, draw up projections, show a few Power Point presentations, and buy the license if it's not already owned by somebody else? Or is a petition all it takes these days?

a petition would tell them there's demand for this thing. they aren't going to have a few meetings, discuss budget, draw up projections, show a few Power Point presentations, and buy the license if it's not already owned by somebody else unless someone tells them quite a few people want this. they ain't flipping psychic.
i sent an email a long time ago, and i think a few other people did too. but i got the stock "your message and ideas have been passed onto the production team" reply.

I think it's been mentioned that they read this board, too.
If NECA was able to make 1/6 years ago I imagine the license is attainable. It's always iffy when it's an old movie without a current push in the media, but what the hell? It's a pretty simple figure compared to what they usually do.

Well good to know that Hot Toys may have got some interest spurred to possibly start a Crow figure. They have been making some obscure licenses lately, i.e. Edward Scissor Hands, POTA, Movie Icons. All old and without and current push of publicity.

woohoo, i don't have to cower in shame for liking this film anymore! nowhere near as good as the first but i still think it had its moments. he dispatched of the bad guys in some cool ways at least, and there was some cool imagery in there. i think vincent perez is an amazing actor - have you ever seen la reine margot? great movie. definitely the 2nd best of the bunch. i mean come on - edward furlong? pecker.

I haven't but I'll have a look. I did enjoy the movie's art direction as well, not the same dark and grim streets of Alex Proyas' original but was something new to distance itself as a different story.
There is a fan-edit I downloaded (haven't watched it yet) where someone's tried to re-build as much of it as possible from deleted scenes and re-inserted storyboards.
I just think it's judged more harshly than it needed to be because the first one has become so iconic.
I'd still love to see a version of the original that was pure to it's comic counterpart. Is easily the strongest and most emotionally powerful telling of the story.

hey nocturne, do you think the comic book is filmable? i agree it is one of the most powerful things i've seen but the story is quite disjoint and erratic (which i think is part of its draw) and the style changes tac quite often. if they had an amazing amazing director behind it they might be able to reproduce it, but it'd be an art house picture. problem is, no hollywood studio would ever go for that. i think that's why we saw a lot more action in the movie. i would also like to see a version more like the comics actually, thinking about it now. but like i say, you'd need a really really talented person to bring the energy of the book out.
as for figures, movie or comic, i'd buy either. both are just as appealing. but the movie version is probably more likely to get made someday.

I think it would be, if you did what Zack Snyder did with 300, use the graphic novel as the basis and fill in the gaps. There just seems to be so much of O'Barr's own pain ingrained into that story. I loved the collected version where it has selected poetry and song lyrics such as The Cure's "The Hanging Garden"
I leant the book to a friend of mine, she said that it touched her so much that it made her cry.

I am a fan of both and enjoyed both takes very much. I'd never have discovered the graphic novel if it wasn't for the film.
I just enjoyed the way the story seemed more emotional, the mental turmoil he was in, visions of the past, how little things haunted him.
I will admit having him unstoppable for the whole film would have made it more of an anti-climactic.
Think the characters been diluted a little from over exposure, even South Park took the piss on their halloween episode. "No one better come dressed as the Crow!"
Would've been good to see how it had played out if they'd kept the "Skull Cowboy" who stripped him of his powers just as he went after "Top Dollar" because he'd had his vengence and killed the one's who wronged him in person.

Hmm, I've not got the NECA. I've got the McFarlane 6" one still sealed in it's packaging (Although the plastic case has yellowed a little)
Would be great to see a premium format of the movie version as I think it warrants that extra detail. I'd happily pay for one of those. Especially if they had the Crow itself as an exclusive.
Just feel the first film has been milked in such a cheap and tacky way in order to sell it to Hot Topic kids, who discovered the film and Nightmare Before Christmas 9 years too late! It's a wonderful film that deserves more than it's been given.

It has proved itself to be a license that sells well though even after all this time, so I can't see why a higher quality piece based on the license would be such a risk. Admitedly I was never too keen on NECA's 1:1 bust (I think it was them anyway)

If the window was incorporated as a part of the diorama. Not having the coat should make it a little cheaper as well and due to the scene allow a gentler facial expression as opposed to manic smiles or grim determination shown in so many other pieces.

i agree about the blu-ray - it looks like crap! one of the reasons i don't have it yet. i'm waiting for a decent release. i have 4 copies of the dvd in all sorts of different formats, but the only one i watch is the original UK 4:3 version (which i think is the aspect ratio the film was shot in - if you compare screens from the 1.85:1 version, the top and bottom have just been sliced off). maybe for the bruce lee stuff but their other recent figures are comparable in price to HT (bean, 24). As for whether they are better, this obviously depends on your POV. I think they'd do an excellent job on an accurate Brandon Lee body though whereas the true type is just not right for him, especially if you were to pose him with coat off. I just feel Enterbay would treat the whole subject matter with much more respect (not that HT wouldn't treat it with respect at all) due to their links with the Lee family.

HT could easily develop a new muscle-body for a Brandon Lee crow figure like they did with Dutch and Hellboy. So you have the option to display him like this:

I just finished putting the 12" McF figure head, hands, guitar, and boots on a talking Neca Crow body (not the greatest articulation but good enough or me). I used a pair of Triad leather pants and the Sideshow Spike coat to dress him in. So now I have a talking McFarlane Crow figure. But I would still be up for seeing someone do the definitive Crow figure.

enterbay always seem to post their license news really early compared to hot toys or medicom so i'm sure if one was in the works we'd have heard by now. look how early they announced the dragonballz, godfather, jackie chan figs. it took ages till we actually saw one. i think they get excited by the license. so we'd probably have heard by now.

True but i don't think they should only rely on this board for the figure. Crow fans are very loyal and usually only collect crow stuff so most don't register here. They would buy a HT Crow figure! Plus if you keep this thread noticable more people will join in time.

i've emailed HT several times about the crow figure already. i got stock replies. a crow figure will happen eventually - it has to, whether its hot toys or someone else. hopefully before the dumb remake ever happens, coz then they'd probably go with the remakes version and not the classic.
at the end of the day the owner at HT is someone who has a passion for the figures he makes. i get the feeling if he doesn't like a movie, he's less interested in getting the license. i'd love to find out what he thinks about the crow.

I dunno. Besides fans of the comic series and actors, both characters have a HUGE goth/Emo following. But most often for that genre/style, the biggest fans = the brokest fans. :lol I don't think there would be enough willing to drop that amount ($150) to support a release from HT. BS, i don't that many in here asking for the figure are goths or emo's just fans of classic movies. The Crow is a modern classic. HT made a Hellboy 2 line, i'm betting there is MUCH more demand for an Eric Draven figure. Do you actually think that figures from something so forgetfull as the Spirit will sell more than a HT version of The Crow? definately not!
Your theory about Crow stuff not selling well proves false, Neca is still releasing figures of this movie (recently with a burning crow base) They wouldn't be doing that if it didn't sell. I'm guessing they are still making big bucks on The Crow.

i would shout BS too, but i prefer not to engage with jerks who make this board more miserable than it needs to be. have you ever spoken to anyone outside your own bedroom, nam? people, ordinary people absolutely love the crow. people you wouldn't even expect. even if you don't go beneath the surface its still an excellent action movie that was done very stylishly. the number of people i've spoken to who say they would love to get cool crow merchandise even though they're not the biggest fans of the film, not goths and not collectors. it would sell like ^^^^ing crazy.

You obviously don't know many goths. Maybe the teenyboppers you see at the mall in Hot Topic don't have much disposable income, but really, what teenyboppers do?
The bulk of the gothy folks I know work in the tech industry so are pulling in $60K+. Granted my experience is in major cities, but it's been my experience that most gothy folks that don't live in major cities eventually move to them as soon as they can, though YMMV.
Do you think all that frilly black clothing comes cheaply? ;D
And the NECA swag that litters the shelves of Suncoast and Spencer's? It doesn't sell because it's tacky, like most of the other "licensed collectibles" they make beyond action figures. Shot glasses. Sigh.
I'm becoming increasingly convinced you live in your own little world. You know your stuff about military hardware and costuming, but beyond that you seem to strike out on a pretty regular basis.

you're absolutely right - this is an any and all character movie in terms of figures. i'd actually prefer the bad dudes before shelly as she had such a minor screen presence (even if she was the most important character overall). i think i'd actually prefer a sarah to a shelly - to keep the line in the dark and dingy real world. and you know for sure that if hot toys did an eric, they would most certainly do a top dollar.

:rotfl maybe this is why hot toys HAVEN'T announced a crow figure yet - i bet they get more emails about this potential figure than anything else. they're probably so sick of crow fans badgering them, they're either thinking, "screw 'em, we're not making one" or "screw em, we're not telling em we're making one."

Obviously you dont know how big Jay Chou & Jet Li are in Asia.
Yes and Henny huisman is big in The Netherlands does that mean they should make a Henny figure:lol? A Jet Li figure is understandable though, never even heard of Jay Chou.

yes, but enterbay is an asian company, so they do asian celebrities. i applaud enterbay's choices, not going for the safe products they know will sell to foreign audiences. they're not boring to me, they're refreshing. it shows they do what they want, and that means they care more about the licenses they have.
they're a newish company. as they grow they'll get the power to acquire bigger and bigger licenses - 24 is a good example. godfather even better. and they're improving with each release too. considering the techniques and benchmarks in quality they've introduced to the business, i wouldn't ever call them boring.
and sometimes you have to step out of your own little world to appreciate what a company is doing or the products they're releasing. it's very ethnocentric to say that some of the greatest stars to grace asian cinema are boring. enterbay brought several bruce lees, jet li, and soon jackie chan. when would that have ever happened with another company, focused on foreign licenses?
oh and 24 isn't just some tv show - it's an international phenomenon, on par with some of the biggest blockbuster movie releases. jack bauer is a character that will live on for a VERY long time, like indiana jones or darth vader. that's not JUST a tv show.

Interesting fictional characters is the way to go, not idolizing glorified millionairs. firstly, i can't believe i stuck up for you against shai. you may as well be the same obnoxious guy as far as i'm concerned. just a few things before i choose not to respond to you anymore, and i'll try and be as polite as possible as one of us really should be (and i'll ignore the more lunatic statements you made) - i was one of the first supporters of Hot Toys on this forum. don't assume my support of enterbay means i support hot toys any less.
my avatar was a tribute to two rising stars that died before their time, whose last performances were amazing. i find your comments about it quite sickening - i don't know why you made such an outlandish comment, but it was just plain judgemental and wrong, without knowing anything about it.
culture isn't bound by national borders, its much more complex than that. your interpretation of ethnocentrism is therefore flawed.
i've tried to get past your exterior on other threads thinking you were an ok guy. now i'm done with you.

Not plain judgemental and wrong, i just can't stand that sick disgusting joker character (i mean no offence to the late Heath Ledger, may he rest in peace) you all idolize and to see it fused with a character that i love makes me angry. The Crow was about justice for victims, a symbol that is totally opposite of what a scumbag like the Joker symbolizes. why do i get the feeling (despite your explanation) that you only made that avatar because they both wore make-up in their last performances:rolleyes:.
culture isn't bound by national borders, its much more complex than that. your interpretation of ethnocentrism is therefore flawed.
I never said it was bound by borders, i just mentioned that i hated my own country and culture. The point is that your accusation of my comment being ethnocentric just didn't apply or make sense at all. You probably just wanted to sound intellectuel huh.
i've tried to get past your exterior on other threads thinking you were an ok guy. now i'm done with you.
I still think you are an ok guy but apparantly you seem to live in the illusion that a common greedy toy company like Enterbay needs to be defended by a buyer (you) they don't give a ^^^^ about (they like your wallet though) against anyone who utters some criticism. And may i add defending them with an over-sensitive, redicilous, paranoid arsenal!

Naah, you don't understand the meaning or in wich context to use it. I know you like that word but enough already:lol.
its from an inherent belief in common courtesy, decency and politeness.
You know, there might be an undiscovered island where behaving like a jerk is seen as common courtesty, decency and politeness. How ethnocentric of you to think that your cultural view of common courtesy is absolute, it is afterall just a view, how ethnocentric:lol.

some times on these boards you really feel like taking people who think their intellectuals to school over certain things. other times you think, "two tears in a bucket, mother uck it" - it's a lost cause. labelling people morons on a forum is one of the weakest things you can do. maybe you have a nice degree from some posh university - that doesn't give you the right to feel superior to people. its a jerk move.
anyway, enough with this nonsense guys. there's an ignore button for a reason. what i want to know is, WHEN DO I GET MY DAMN CROW FIGURE??!!! and if medi, HT and enterbay all made one, they'd all be damn amazing. i'd prefer a diaorama to a stand - and enterbay would be most likely for that. my vote would be for the round window in eric's loft. that would be cool.

Wow, a lot of anger here.
I think a little perspective is in order. We are lucky enough to be collectors at the best ever (if not most economically unstable considering our habit ain't cheap) time, it's the golden age.
Hot Toys and Enterbay are at the top of the heap for 1/6 right now, we have wonderfull choices, both are exceptional, but they are 'at the end of the day' two companies giving us what we want at a quality we have craved for years. We're in a win-win situation. I hope to get both Godfather figures, I expect to find both outstanding and it's great that the two heavyweigts are doing it.
I think both companies have shown amazingly good choices, some more leftfield than others, but all relevant. Too many people get angry if a company makes something they don't want... tough, just wait till something you want comes along. There are a lot of collectors in Asia (and around the rest of the world) who will be ecstatic that we now have figures of Jay Chou and Wong Ka Kui, be happy for them, not angry and arrogant that your personel 'obscure' favourite still isn't done yet.
As for the Crow, I'd be happy for ANYONE to do it as long as they do it well, hell, Triad are picking up more licences, they'd make a killer Eric too.

I agree we are all entitled to an opinion, but we have to be aware our opinion is just that... an opinion.
Try and step away from the situation and look at it like a third party. When Enterbay first showed the Mr Bean I thought WTF, but I never thought it was a stupid decision... a strange one yes, but now I want one... explain that!
I only tend to get angry with a company if they do a figure (or figures) from a licence I care about, and do them 'badly'... now that IS annoying!

i have to agree with this (shaun and ed come to mind ). another thing i hate is when a company doesn't take a license to fruition and wastes it. a lot of people were annoyed with HT's treatment of the POTC line (although we did get a fair few characters, just not barbosa!). me personally, the biggest disappointment has come from medi neglecting the marvel movie range. they had such great opportunities there, with punisher, blade, daredevil, spider-man etc. and it was totally wasted.
so i'm hoping that whoever gets the crow we get a few figures. i have to agree that enterbay's focus may be on brandon only, whereas HT are probably more likely to develop a movie based line. but the movie is so old now, any company might focus only on the iconic draven.

Really, it's only been a couple of weeks since the T600 + T700 announcement, I felt sure we'd see some human characters (or some that look human... if you know what I mean), never can tell though!
And 8S, there have been so many figures from so many companies that have dissapointed, but yeah, Shaun and Ed did hurt a lot!
I hope we get a Connor. I really want a Connor. Bale is the most popular Connor so if they're going to do one you'd think it'd be of him ya know?

I still rather have Hot Toys doing this, Enterbay is way to expensive. I don't think Enterbay is better than HT.
Sorry thats a moronic statement!!!

Definitely Hot toys compared to Enterbay.
Enterbay might have a better proto, diorama etc, but they really suck at the actual final mass production:monkey1
Again thats a moronic statement!!!

I don't think enterbay would do one. The Bruce Lee figures were very cool ofcourse but besides that Enterbay is one boring-*** company their choices for figures can't get more boring.
Yes your right the 24 figs they have done are really boring arnt they, moron!!!

Yeah, i think so. Who the hell reacts that strongly on something so trivial? Are your figures your best friends, do they talk to you?

O get lost with your ethnocentric remark. I don't care about celebreties at all!! wether they are asian or western. Interesting fictional characters is the way to go, not idolizing glorified millionairs. I have been studying buddhism for 14 years, i feel much more related to asian cultures than to western cultures.
It's a tv show.
Enterbay is boring. Hot toys are my heroes for finally making Major Dutch. HT should do The Crow.
How arrogant are you!!!

Stop defending something that only likes your wallet, seriously why would you be so loyal to a freaking greedy Toy-company?

I'm not arrogant, just because you are a fan doesn't mean i have to be one. i called it boring out of personal opinion, it's not like it's a fact. Plus, i have never seen 24 and who is YJ Park? I don't have an opinion on those. the only reason i called Enterbay boring is because they haven't made anything besides Bruce Lee that i like or find figure-worthy. We can agree to disagree.

This is my last post to you 8th but seriously get a grip!!! The 24 figures are comparable to anything HT do price wise but in a league of their own quality wise, completely shame anything HT have done to date!!!

Quality wise i don't think i can or want to dispute that, they do look very real. also Enterbay doesn't use rubber in their figures do they? That's a BIG plus. I care about interesting figures not about companies so i don't care who does The Crow, Enterbay or Hot Toys.

My fav crow choice for the figure would be a non-battle damage version. Ready to start the hunt.
O, and a public apology for everyone i argued with in this thread (eight samurai, Nash etc..). I know i'm a bit of an angry person but i'm working on it:lol.

I was watching City of Angels and when he put his jacket on it was such a direct rip off from the original. They tried to redo the scene when Eric put his shirt on with this new guy and it was a disgrace :lol
