It looks interesting to me, but I'll have to see pictures of the cuirass before I think about buying one.
This one also seems to come with the correct greaves of the time period. I'll defiantly have to pick up a spare set of them parted out to complete my first Greece Hoplite.

That's better than the first Hoplite, which I can't seem to find. It must be pretty popular. Keep the Greeks and Romans coming, I say!

My oh my, that's quite a step forward!
I agree, keep this stuff coming, but let's hope they don't get acustomed to making the jump from metal to plastic, like they have on the Legionary.

I've got the new Imperial Legionary on my shelf here and i have the say the cuirass is superb, despite being plastic. If it was metal the weight would make the figure impossible to pose. The helm is still metal, as are the weapons. It is an awesome figure and stunningly accurate as per lessons learned from the Corbridge Hoard. The only disappointment is that he is not wearing pants/leggings and socks, which the Romans on the Wall did. Oh well, he must have been in warmer climes!!!
I shall be buying more than one to kitbash. :joy

I admit speaking from what I hear, I haven't got the figure yet and despite this drawback I definitely will. Good point about the weight btw, however it seems somewhat too convenient to be the reason behind this choice.
All in all it's a load of crap, because I'm happy as hell that I finally have a chance to get a bunch of decent looking roman figures on my desk; but when you look at it techically, Ignite's high price, taking the primitive body and mostly horrible headsculpts into account, is only justified by the metal. But that wont stop me from getting every ancient warrior they sprout.

Actually the Imperial Legionary's head sculpt looks better then previous Ignite figures, The problem is that his head is too small. I fixed mine up by switching the armor over to a Dragon body with a head that's the right size.
The worst part about the armor is that you have to use the heat and pull head off method to remove the shoulder armor.
The armor also should've had at least fully articulated shoulder armor. that more so then the cuirass is what limits the figure's movement. And I don't see it as costing any more then what this version of the shoulder armor cost them.
The helmet also needs a chin strap badly.

And Dave if you're still looking for the first Greek, it's still available from Good Stuff To Go, Voyager Toys, and Monkey Depot, there's plenty of stores out there to chose from.

Thanks, Monkey Depot had a bunch of the Ignite figures I'd missed. Now I've got to be a completeist with these things.

I just wish they could hold up their weapons...

Wow what happened to all the topics here?
Anyways, I just checked the Battle Rhino's website and it says that this figure is allready instock.
I placed my order and I'll let everyone know how it is. I've been looking at pictures closely and it appears that the greaves aren't any different. They're still like the old Roman greaves.
I just hope the head sculpt and paint job turnout better then they did on the first figure.

EDIT: I was wrong, the figure does indeed have new different ancient Greece type greaves.

I got my Hoplite in today, he has some improvements over the past hoplite and other Ignite figures.
he's got a new body design apparently, the only thing I can tell is different is the arms, they have ball jointed wrists. These are an improvement over the usual cut joint wrists. They're stiff and hold their position well.
Too bad they didn't improve the rest of the figure. his joints are still a little too lose in the shoulder and hip area for my liking, I'd rather have them very stiff with all this heavy metal armor.

I'm happy to report that he does indeed have new Greek greaves (shin guards). but unfortunately they look HORRIBLE! They have a seam running down the front that shouldn't be there. These are supposed to be made out of one sheet of metal instead, they're made out of two pieces. Ughh, they look bad.
The seam is very obvious and badly done and not polished like the cuirass from the first figure. :(

The cuirass armor looks a bit better then the pictures of the prototype. Mine came undone in the package so it at first didn't look any better, but once I retied the strings it looked much better.
It's made of a thin piece of faux Leather. It's stiff enough to seam like armor but it doesn't really feel like armor. I would think that it would be thicker and have more to it, but it looks alright.

The new Kopis sword is great! I really like the way they did it, it's hefty and the blade is made out of metal. It's scabbard is nice but it might be better if some of the pieces were made out of metal, but it looks good.
The sandals are the same and the shirt is the same as the original but a different color.
The Cloak he comes with is very nice, it's silk! and feels great!
It fastens with a usual clasp that has a plastic decorative swirling piece glued on the front.
And I'm very happy with the head sculpt and paint, MUCH better then the first Hoplite!
Every thing else is the same as the first, same type of helmet and shield but with different paint schemes. And Two spears this time! both with metal tips but they are a little different, the rear tips are a bronze color instead of a steal color.

I like the figure, I wish it had more detail in the cuirass but I think it just might be accurate to the time period. And I really wish they did a better job on the greaves. I'm not really disappointed with the figure entirely. I'd give it **1/2 stars, just middle of the road in terms of quality.

Edit:
I just noticed that this guy has new ankle joints. They have a gap between the foot and lower leg, but give the same amount of movement as the new G3.5 Blue Box ankles. The gap is covered by the sandal straps so it's not at all noticeable. I really like the amount of movement these offer, but I prefer the way the Blue Box joints look even though these are hidden by shoes and pant legs most of the time. They are also quite stiff and hold their position well.

Sorry, I don't own a camera. I tried to be as descriptive as possible.
I've set my Hoplite II up on a stand and tried to get him to look better. It looks all right, I still can't get past the cheap feel of the cuirass and the unsightly seam on his greaves.
