Not to have the catalogues in every shippment.
I already have all of the up todate catalogues and
they just add more weight to the package.
Thanks

As far as I know, Dr, you can't.
It would be good if you could. Save Sideshow printing costs if they knew how many of these were wasted. If they bear the shipping cost of the added weight, they could save there too. The cost of saving this amount of money, by monitoring the distribution of the catalogues, probably makes it unviable at present. There is probably a set price for a certain number of catalogues printed in a run, so I'm sure they try to minimise where they can. Also, these may be added to your parcel as a thank you, which Sideshow is very forward in doing. It can't always be caps, mugs, keychains, 1/6 figures, busts, but they do it when they are able.

:lecture Wonder if it wouldn't be cheaper to only mail catalogs, sending one to all newsletter customers and to everyone who has made a purchase (who didn't get one as a newsletter customer), either in the last <fill in the blank time frame> or to anyone who's made at least ONE purchase. Or forget that, simplify it and mail ONE catalog to everyone in their database.
Do this when each catalog comes out and forget putting them in the shipping boxes. There would be the initial cost of mailing, but then they don't have to worry about fulfillment (packing them in boxes with purchases), they don't have to worry they're sending 3 and 4 of the same (very expensive) catalogs to the same person (who then probably trashes these self-same very expensive catalogs because really, how many catalogs does even the most avid collector need?), get one catalog into the hands of all their customers, and maybe customers who haven't purchased recently will flip through and go "Wow! I gots to have me THAT!" Plus they get all their catalog boxes in their fulfillment area and then they get to get rid of them all at once (except for the "extras"), freeing up some space and being able to forget about "to pack a catalog or not to pack a catalog, that is the question". Just be done with it!
If they planned on the mailing, then they could order enough for everyone to get one and 10% extra on hand for new customers. That would cut down on all the "extra" catalogs they seem to sometimes try to be getting rid of because the next catalog is about to come out... :lecture (OK, I'm done!) :wave
I'm assuming that right now SS just sends catalogs in orders. I don't think I ever get a catalog except with a purchase.

I used to be a marketing director for a mail order/Internet order software & publishing company, I can tell you that it took about 4 catalogs to an address (over the year) before the orders come in. Only a very small fraction of orders come in the first mailing (the early adopters and fans -- like the people on these boards). Most people need repeated exposures. So in hitting people with catalogs, you look for different tricks (different covers, theme issues, placements in the boxes and in the mailbox, trade shows, channel distribution etc...) People tend to throw out things in the mail out of habit, so receiving a catalog through a different means might make them actually pause and look at it. Also sometimes the person making the purchase was not the end user, so the only way we had of getting to the end user was through the catalog insertions with the product. :lecture
So it's not the cost of the catalog (SS probably runs them on a web press with a huge run, where incrementally the costs of extra catalogs are pennies) or the cost of distribution which matters so much, but getting the catalogs into "qualified" hands. So I doubt you'll see in end to this practice, for as an actual purchaser/receiver of SS products, you are very valuable to them. And the more you purchase and the quicker you purchase (recentcy and frequency in the lingo), the more valuable you become. So, you can think of it as a badge of honor. ;)

I very rarely read the catalogues.
I am only interested in the 1/6 figures
so I check the web for those.
I can't afford the statues even
if I wanted them.
Personally I think the dvd is the way
to go versus a heavy catalogue.

Don't forget you can download the catalogues as well. Maybe that needs to be more prominently displayed on their website.

The greatest drawback to this would be for those of us who actually look forward to and collect the catalogs. That catalogs I receive in shipments are most always in pristine condition which is the way I like it. However, it is nightmarish to think what one of the catalogs would look like after traveling through the mail. :horror

I hope after I get five catalogs I can trade them in for a mug. Wonder if SS would entertain the offer. :arr

If i'm not wrong they do announce in the newsletter when a new catalog is out and on the main page at the top right they do have a shortcut link when it's still new.
Since there are people who do collect the catalogs, maybe an option could be available under the account settings for customers to choose if they want to receive the hardcopy or not. Or else by default ppl will have to view it online or even download into their pc.
I've no idea how they decide to include catalogs or not but I do not think SS will on purpose put catalogs in so that it's heavier and cost more on shipping. I don't know how much does an average catalog weigh but let's say it's 300grams, and your package is 5.1kg, adding the catalog would still be the same shipping cost as it hasnt hit the next 500grams step of 5.5kg. So probably they weigh the boxes and if they can squeeze the catalog in without increasing the cost of shipping they will do so?

I have some #6 & #7 catalogues left as well, so if someone wants one, PM your address. Unfortunately, I have no bracelets left. I sent all of them out already. I'll let you know if I get any more.
