Tony has hit the shores of the US! I like him - he talks!

But the sculpt looks good - the paint ops are far more...dramatic...than the turnaround suggests. But you can tell it's a younger Pacino.

And be careful getting the switchblade out of the tray - I popped it out and nearly took out my eye.

And the lines sound pretty good - a bit muffled coming through so many layers of cloth, but very clear. And the exclusive lines are really extreme, it's funny how much this little guy cusses.

I get mine on Friday, can't wait!

Hey Dave, does the exclusive version say "Say hello to my little friend!" line?

Nope, the omission of "say hello..." is perplexing. Probably the MOST quoted line from the film.

09-21-2005, 10:43 PM
Maybe Sideshow did it on purpose. Left it as an opening, so you could introduce the figure to your friends

Pictures Dave.....Pictures I say... :p

I am sure the ommission of that line is because he never said it in his white suit, but the blue suit, which is no doubt in the works..

Curse you Darklord Dave. Just because of this post, I ordered one! When it comes in the mail, I'm going to tell the wife it's your fault! ;)

Made me think, though, that a Godfather (I and II) 12" line or even PF line (yeah, sure) would really make me lose control. :google

I really have to stop reading this board... :slap

Thanks buddy, my therapist just spent weeks getting that fantasy out of my head, and now I'm all wacked out again :wacky

Ahh, that's what these boards are for I guess, to feed each other's obsessive-compulsive, spendthrift tendencies! :D

Now your therapist owes me a cut of your fees! :naughty

I'd really go for a 1/6 Godfather line - too many characters for PFs though.

They do need to make Tony in the different costumes like Mezco did.

Wait, these are already shipping? I haven't received any notice.

09-22-2005, 06:20 PM
How about some pics people? Please!! :D

Is the sculpt the same as the one in the turnaround video?

09-22-2005, 07:15 PM
I get mine tomorrow but I can't take pictures because I am giving it to my brother whom is a Prosecuter for the DA! I thought that it would be funny for him to have Little Al tell them of their fate.

"All I got in this world are my ***** and my word and I don't break them for no-one!"

He's on the standard body.

He's on the standard body.

he's not on the body that R. Lee Ermy came on? the one with limited neck articulation?

has sideshow said why they didn't use al pacino's actual voice? why would they use an actor to impersonate pacino?

what's the point of doing a talking figure if they can't use the real actor?

he does have the limited neck. can only turn side to side.
The voice function, I think, is actually better than the preview sounds. I was disappointed in the sound sample on SS's site, but pleasently surprised by the actual figure's voice. Its not from the movie, but its much closer than I was expecting.

His gun actually slides open also to see the bullet in the the chamber. thought that was kinda cool.

as for the omission of "Say hello to my little friend". only thing I can think is that maybe there are additional copyrights to that phrase, but you woulda thought those rights wouldve come with the use Scarface period. If thats not the case, I do think its a mistake to leave it out.

Overall, Tony's better than I was expecting though. his suit looks great. I almost cancelled afert hearing the voice sample, glad I didnt.

Hopfully mine will come today, thanks for posting pictures.

I had meant he's on the standard sized body. But it is the Ermey one with no midriff articulation and limited neck. I think he sounds pretty good, it's not obviously NOT Pacino.

did sideshow ever say "WHY" pacino's voice wasn't used?

i wonder how difficult, in this day and age of technology, it would be to make our own talking figures(using a sideshow talking body as a base). i'd bet the voice is on some kind of sound chip. has anyone ever tried to somehow download movie clips and put the sounds on a sound chip to make a talking figure? that would be cool. :joy

Just got my little friend in the mail! He's very well done, the head sculpt looks perfect, the figure doesn't nearly have as dark a complexion as it did in Sideshow's turn around video. He does have too much eyeliner under his eyes, but it's not a big issue to me. The suit fits well but it could be better, his shirt has no sleeves which is a disappointment and he has no socks on.

His accessories are very well done! his hand gun is on par with Dragon hand guns, with the right scale, excellent detail, pull back slide, small separate Spring Guide, barrel hole, removable magazine and painted bullets. His stacks of 20's are very well done with each bill printed on the front and back and in perfect scale, I know because I compared a dollar to my airsoft 92F and they match perfectly with the 1/6 versions! The switchblade is also very nicely done.

However, having this figure makes me worry more that Sideshow will use the voice feature on their Darth Vader. I would hate for him to have a cut joint neck, a hole in his chest, and a very limited ball jointed waist as does this figure. Let's hope that Sideshow doesn't do that to Vader.

Received my sideshow exclusive today. very nice. Love the packaging, especially the cut out allowing you to press the voice button.

BTW, I forgot, we were getting the custom base/stand and what was added to the exclusive version until I double checked the sideshow site:

Exclusive Edition Script:

This is paradise, I'm telling you. This town like a great big ***** just waiting to get *****.
I never **** anybody over in my life who didn't have it coming, you got that?
**** Gaspar Gomez, and **** the ******' Diaz brothers - **** 'em all!

I got him today, is it just me or is he really tall?

Using audio clips from the film was probably cost prohibitive. It's a separate license from likeness rights, since it's audio from the film, and they probably had a ceiling on the budget for this stuff. I would have just left the voice thing off.

Hell, if Carlito's Way was popular enough to make a DTV prequel, maybe they'll do a figure of him from that film...

Mine was waiting for me today. Like it so far, haven't opened it. But why's his suit have a big white vest? Don't see one in pics...

But why's his suit have a big white vest?

'cause they got him confused with Travolta?
