View Full Version : Guess the LAST LOTR 1/6th figure...

Is it Gandalf?
Will it be Gimli?
Merry + Pippin?
If there is to be one more, who will it be? Or are we already getting the last one?

Gandalf the White!
Reason? Sideshow just have to re-do a little bit of GTG to release this figure. On top of that, they can make use of this opportunity to reduce their inventory of the Buck body and still sell the figure for $90.

I would hope it would be Gimli. He is far more important to me that Merry & Pip.

If it were for the fans, Gimli.
If it were to cost effectively make use of a design already done then it'll Merry and Pippin to make use of the Hobbit body.

It seems alot of people reckon this line is coming to an end. After Gandalf is released there is no more 12" love (:naughty) I think Merry and Pippin will definitely be made... as many peeps have said - they wouldn't have developed the hobbit bodies to only make Sam n Frodo would they?
I reckon all of these 'the LotR 12" line is dead' theories are people just preparing for the worst so they can be pleasantly surprised if/when new announcements are made.... or it's to provoke a reaction from Sideshow to make a comment on the future of the LotR 12" line.
I sincerely hope it does carry on... with the new SS bodies and armoured figures being released the LotR line could really soar to new heights!
Another belief is that SS are pacing themselves until nearer the release of the Hobbit movies and with these new movies replenishing the LotR enthusiasm in the fans.... gather momentum from there?
The only thing that really bother me is that Sideshow have discontinued other licences without any announcement or anything... was it the Buffy line or something like that?
So to answer the OP's question.... if any figure will soon be announced as 'the LAST LotR figure'... it will be Gimli... but who knows really? Anyone got a Palantir handy?

i hope you're wrong. i hope ther last figure is farmer maggot or something like that because that'll mean we will have gotten every substantial figure if they make it that far but with how the lines going right now i could settle for 28 figures i guess.

I want to see Wraiths, Uruks, Orcs, more hobbits and heroes, even a troll on the scale of jabba before Sideshow calls it a day. I don't mind the line being slow...as long as something comes along once in a while. One locomotive line spewing new releases at a fast clip is enough for me (SW) :)
I do think it would be odd to kill the line without offering a single "bad" guy or any female characters...
Besides, LOTR fans take heart...there is one line Sideshow is offering that's slower than this...
...it's that guy to the left here sporting that spiffy fedora. Talk about S L O W....
Aragorn

We all wish the same, my friend. Since the day that we learned from Sideshow that they were doing a 12" LOTR line, I asked only that we at the very least obtain the Fellowship Nine. I must have repeated that line in at least a thousand posts. This line, in my opinion, is SS's best 12" line, topping even the mighty Star Wars license. I was hoping to see armored Gondorians, Elven warriors, Easterlings and even a Treebeard (the Jabba of the LOTR line, if you will) along with the obvious Orcs, Uruks, Wraiths and Saruman and secondary characters. So much potential that just hasn't been realized. That is a true shame.

I've always wondered how Sideshow would tackle orcs and goblins if they decided to do them. While humanoid in appearance, some of them have a simian/ape-like posture for which the current bodies would'nt be able to cater for as far as I know.
Reading all these posts about the line coming to an end is bumming me out. I think I'll stay out of these threads from now on and just carry on in my own happy little world until any official announcements are made.

Aragorn is my favorite new board member, with the cool images that show how great this line can continue to be. While all of the figures we've received thus far aren't perfect, they are all still wonderful collectibles from these films. I am always ready to make more shelf space for LOTR figures! We need Captain Faramir's never say die attitude to keep things going!

I will still hold out hope, but it is tough to hang on with nothing in the pipeline. I had Frodo and Lurtz PF figures, and sold them both last year to help pay for my wedding. I still don't think I held onto the wrong line, but the PF line is certainly looking more robust. Hopefully the next figure will be quite complex and put some of the doubt to rest. I can't imagine that most of the LOTR baddies are easy to create, but I hope that Sideshow has them coming soon, and this would explain the delay.

Time for some baddies...I think they need to start with Saruman (to challenge Gandalf - plus, now that we've seen what they can do with the robe and the beard, it's a MUST!) and the Ringwraith (no head means it's an easy sculpt! - just put a strong wire in the hood to hold it up!), and use Hot Toys' amazing Terminator Endoskeleton technology and know-how to do the armored skeleton underneath those robes - HT helped out with the Hobbit bodies for SS, why not these too?...Plus you'd get a bunch of us freaks buying AT LEAST 3 of them which = strong sales to keep the LOTR line going strong too! Right up to the release of THE HOBBIT and a whole NEW line of figures! :rock
Gandalf is a sellout, so hopefully that proves there's still a market of us out there for these guys! Honestly, the incredible detail on the LOTR line blows the 1/6 SW line out of the water! I'm hoping for the same detail with the Indy line! (of only 2 figures so far :monkey2)
