This was officially announced today... not sure if it's been posted anywhere else here (though I didn't see it)...

Released: 9th December 2008
SRP: $34.99 (2-Disc DVD)

Further Details:
Warner Home Video has announced 1-disc ($28.98), 2-disc ($34.99) and Blu-ray ($35.99) releases of The Dark Knight for the 9th December. The extras have yet to be revealed for the DVD releases, although the Blu-ray release will include a Gotham Uncovered documentary, featurettes (Batman Tech: The Incredible Gadgets and Tools, Batman Unmasked: The Psychology of The Dark Knight), 6 episodes of Gotham Cable's Premier News Program, galleries (The Joker Cards, Concept Art, Poster Art, Production Stills), trailers and TV spots. A limited edition set with Batpod will also be available. Artwork is attached

As cool as that little Batpod is, I won't be getting that version. I hate the way you have to store the discs.

Can't wait!!! Joker cover looks sweet but I would prefer the Batman in front of burning building cover.

That's awesome. The batpod is cool but I hope that version comes with the same DVD case as the regular Blu-Ray edition, I don't want to hold the discs in that thing.

My guess is if it's a store exclusive it'll be Best Buy. But they didn't announced that yet.

Same here. Want the Batpod but want a normal case for the shelf.

Me, either. I don't like that at all. But if it comes with a regular Blu-ray case inside I'll consider getting it.

It looks kinda like the Movie Masters Batpod from Mattel to me. If so, then its a Target exclusive since Target exlusively will carry the MM Batpod.
