Milla Jovovich head commission

I've wanted a Milla head for a while, and the one Ada made turned out pretty bad with caveman looking brows. There's been a lot of talk about Milla heads and customs recently on the forum and the lack of them out there, so not being shy, I'm trying to see what people would be interested in head wise since she has so many looks, and if we get enough people together, to commission Chris Howes to make her for us.

Maybe we can have a few versions. Do you want her bald for wigs? Do you want her with hair from 5th Element, Resident Evil, or Ultra Violet?

Throw out what you would be interested in signing up for, and I'll start lists to gauge peoples interests in the different characters/versions. So far, people have been SO specific and diverse in which Milla version they want, it looks like we will be doing at least two heads, but more people joining in can make those prices even lower if we reach 15 for a special pre-casting discount, or we might make some of the other head versions happen!


Prices:
10 people = $35.00 per head plus $5 shipping (covers shipping up to 5 heads).

For 15 + people the price per head will drop down to $25.00 for a special limited time pre-casting discount (plus $5 shipping, covers shipping up to 5 heads). It will return back up to $35.00 once casting starts. To get the pre-sale discount, payment must be sent before actual casting begins.

If, at all, I think I'd go Resident Evil, with hair. I'd need to see the sculpt before commiting though. As hit and miss as Ada could be, CH's sculpts haven't wowed me yet.

i want a good Milla sculpt so bad i could spit. have to see the sculpt 1st but i'd love a bald for real hair. i'd use it for RE or Violet but really a good bald Milla could be used for most any character

Wow, this threads on fire.

You can see if the trend goes the way it is we will be ending up with a bald head for sure, we're almost right there, and then probably a Resident Evil version.

It goes without saying we are not limited to doing only two versions. If the demand is high enough to reach 10 for any version, it's a go, especially since we're commissioning the bald version for him to work on, so it's totally in all of your hands!

Ultra Violet not getting any votes isn't a surprise. That's the easiest wig version to make using the bald version for. :)

We've definitely got enough people for a Bald Milla by now, though more people couldn't hurt and would help get the price lowered, and we have enough people for a RE Milla, if people agreed to the same version. Not bad!

Heads for Dragon bodies need necks anyways, so that's good. She looks nice, particularly in the side-view. What price are we looking at for her? And if we are able to get RE3 heads from S-Ramos, did anyone want to switch their RE preferences who wanted a RE3 in the commission to a different movie?

Hey toupee I just wanted to say that it wasnt my intention to hijack your thread. I just figured It would be better for everyone involved to not drop a few hundred bucks into a head thats already available. It also cuts our options as far as Alice goes. I myself am hoping to have all three versions of Alice at some point.

I can get everyone these heads for no more than $30 with shipping. Its part of a garage kit that i found by chance. I was lucky that the sculptor was kind enough to sell me just the head for my own figure. I will be buying the additional heads from him and then shipping them to those who want them. I asked if he would mind me giving people his contact info, or if it would be better to buy the heads in bulk form him. He said I could buy the extra heads If I needed them.

Chris just got back to me and said he is good to start, and that he would be starting on the bald version first for everyone, and that we could figure all out what haired version/s we'd want of her from there.

Since we have a modest start here, but higher than 10 because of people wanting multiplies, the Bald Milla head will be dropped down to $30 a head, (and it's just $5 for shipping no matter how many heads you order) as an early-bird special.

Once the heads are done and cast the price will go back up to $35.

I need a photo and more info about this body. All I can find is an Eve with large breasts. That will not do for this character.

The EVE does have large breasts, but its readily available and easy too mod. Also the breasts on the EVE body dont shoot out of the chest as othe bodies tend to have. Ive already hacked off the boobs and started adding a more appropiate bust. The BBI Perfect Body was released with a small breast plate, but the body itself is far from Millas. There was Soldier Stories body that had small breasts but the body itself is not all that great. I havent looked into any of the Volks bodies, they might actually have a very good one for Milla.

Great Question! The only qualification I have so far is she needs to look determined or pissed (laugh).

When I send sculpting reference for heads, I choose the one pic I want the finished head to look like, then find similar reference from other angles. Chris also watches videos of the actor for reference as well. I "warned" him Milla is naked in almost every movie, but being the trooper that he is, didn't let that throw him off planning on watching some anyways. :lol

(Seriously, that's a biiiig step up from Ada who didn't even want to use a side profile picture of the actor until being forced to because she was asked to at the approval stage!)

This should be darn interesting. She has a facial structure that isn't the plain old standard pretty model/actress face. I can see why some other sculptors have had trouble portraying her. But we'll avoid those pitfalls and I will invite critique. I always like having as many sets of eyes helping out as possible.

It's even weirder because her preference of using just one pic doesn't even have to do with leg-work. I'd provide her with the profile shots in the ref and she still wouldn't use them untill I had to point out the profile she sculpted didn't match even slightly. And she is very talented, so it was just frustrating/mystifying. :horror

I won't venture to guess why she would do this. No sculptor I know, and certainly no sculptor who I trained or ever worked for me would think they could create an accurate sculpt using one piece of reference. (If they would have tried they would have had to face my wrath!)

It's like drawing. You can draw easily from a single view. Both are 2D flat views. But to sculpt is a different matter. You have to take many views and synthesize a unified whole. I use DOZENS upon DOZENS of shots at as many angles as I can find. I can fill up huge hard drives with reference material! It's hard work, mentally. But it's the only way. Unless you intend to view your sculpt from only one angle!

The bald one is being done for sure, and we are collecting pre-payments on it to get her started. We are now deciding what reference should be used for her, and the RE1 pic from a page back seems to be winning.

The second head version with highest votes to be made seems to be the RE1 Milla with sculpted hair, so who knows, if enough people continue to put their 2 cents in, maybe he'll do both? :banana:banana

I had been looking everywhere for a good Milla as well. Wanting to get Chris to sculpt her was a no-brainer (I just organized this!). He's done Robert Downey Jr and the Dark Knight set (shown in the first post) previously, and is now doing Doctor Who, Ghostbusters, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles heads as well!

Actually they are Hazel like Bale's eyes (huge fan of Bale), but the pic might have distorted the color a bit,

Rick has kindly contacted me about the matter of having a part in this group commission as the painter for those of you who would want a painted sculpt :-), As many of you know I'm already booked for Chris Howe's Dark KNight sculpts and the Summer Glau sculpts coming up from Chris as well, but I would definately like to be a part of this sculpt as well, Chris is doing the sculpt after all :joy. Once a list is put together on how many of you would like yours painted I can get a better idea of time frame of completion and a quote for the painting :-). More than likely price would be the same as the Summer Glau paintwork price.

'Fraid so. But don't be discouraged. Look at all of the new people who found this thread just this week--- enough to bump the RE1 with hair right in front of the finish line of ten people needed to get that one made as well.

I'd like to think we are weeks away from getting enough pre-payments together rather than months.

Assuming there are enough folks interested to make each version possible I'll likely mold a new headsculpt with specific hair and maybe different expression for each version.

That way, each head would come with it's own hair and expression as part of the casting. So each head becomes a unique creation and it keeps the per head cost down for everyone. Removable hair would increase the cost significantly. Different kind of more labor intensive molding would be involved, plus each head would require 2 separate casting operations. Plus fitting each would likely require a bit of hand work. All these things increase cost.

I won't venture to guess why she would do this. No sculptor I know, and certainly no sculptor who I trained or ever worked for me would think they could create an accurate sculpt using one piece of reference. (If they would have tried they would have had to face my wrath!)

It's like drawing. You can draw easily from a single view. Both are 2D flat views. But to sculpt is a different matter. You have to take many views and synthesize a unified whole. I use DOZENS upon DOZENS of shots at as many angles as I can find. I can fill up huge hard drives with reference material! It's hard work, mentally. But it's the only way. Unless you intend to view your sculpt from only one angle!

It might be true that she works from 1 reference, I bought the Jack O'Neill sculpt from her and although on her website its a dead on match front view (and dead on in hand) its ever so slightly off imho opinion in the other views. I also understand that you need to try and amalgamate your reference images somtimes to get an overall view mentally for that to translate into the sculpt.

Im only working on some armour pieces atm and have quite a bit of reference material on it, but Ive had to rework parts a few times as were they are all are supposed to align perfectly in different spots invariably they dont, so a subtle tweak here and there to make the jigsaw fit is hopefully gonna be worth it in the end, and Im struggling with armour which Ive no doubt is 10 times easier to do that than organic or facial / headsculpt matching. So 1 reference for her on headsculpts sounds odd but right

I think I've probably got the weirdest custom planned for my Milla. I've wanted a nice head of her for a while to make her into a space station security officer/cop.

I've got this display case I've been sloooowly working to turn into a 4 level, 1:6, sci-fi space station diorama.

The loose theme is that the station had been studying an array of hundreds of different alien creatures that had been mysteriously found in stasis during the excavation of a recently discovered abandoned alien complex. OF COURSE something goes wrong and something gets loose. I suppose I didn't need a back-story, but I'm a nerd. Each level is a different take on the situation.

So on one level I'll have Ripley, Hicks, and Bishop, having responded to an SOS, investigating and finding some stasis tubes filled with face huggers that had been excavated, with one jar broken, our heroes looking decidedly pissed off.

In other level, I'll have the Doctor and a companion from Doctor Who find a bloody lab, dead scientists, and a shattered giant stasis tube and a ceiling filled with webs.

On another level there will be a Predator hunting party with the Milla cop caught in the middle of their battle of them fighting giant spiders.

The lowest level is going to have some base personnel cocooned, surrounded by the giant alien spiders (LOTR spiders), who are battling some Aliens. Both are rather territorial, and they don't share their food.

I want my Deunan and Briareos from Appleseed in there somewhere as well.

Very cool! Listen, short hair is pretty simple. You should be able do that yourself.

For customizing additions I want to be permanent I use Apoxie sculpt, a two-part self harding resin that starts as clay. I love this stuff and get it from my local RPG store whenever I can get out that way. You can find it online.

If you've never sculpted before, you may want to practice with regular clay like sculpey just to get the hang of what you want to do before you do it in Apoxie, which hardens like concrete and is permanent. Just a thought. A great starter project!

Alright gang, just a status report here. There are enough people wanting both the bald Milla and the RE1 version for us to commission Chris to make them for us, but if you look at the list, hardly anyone has pre-paid. People that have have an asterik put in front of their names. These pre-payments are the divided cost of commissioning Chris to hire him to make that version for us, (plus the cost of your copy of the head).

There are a THOUSAND Chris Howes commission threads out there in the forums for different characters now, and each other commission that reaches 10 people and is able to collect their payments to pay Chris before us gets that project put ahead of this one in his work line since we haven't collected enough money to pay him yet. Or if we never get the payments then Milla won't get made at all. I'd have thought she was more popular than that.

So please, lets start getting the payments in so we can not only make her, but be made before all these other commission threads that started after us.

Cool news. I just started cross-posting this over at OSW. Months ago when I was doing the Ada commissions there they always popped my threads into their commerce section really quick which was a dungeon and no one ever saw them, so I quit posting these there.

Now the moderator who really hated them is gone, and I can post in them in the normal forum again, and in one day there got 6 new orders!

This has knocked the "Bald Milla" and "RE1 Milla" into the 15+ catagory,
making them $25 as a pre-cast special if you pe-pay before Chris casts (then it goes back up to $35).

Also, extra names have been added in other Milla head catagories making their lists grow longer, like for Fifth Element now having three people on it, so other heads might be coming closer to being a reality now as well!

I can either refund you the difference or put it towards another head you want. Your call! :)

Chris has said each head will have a different expression because he comes from the school of giving people value for their money. But I wouldn't worry just yet about the other heads not happening. I cross-advertised on OSW this morning, and literally have had 10 additions to the different Milla lists (an update from what I said above), so anything can still happen with those. :)

All reference is welcome! I surround myself with as much reference as I can unlike some other sculptors I've heard tell of. It gets quite ridiculous, just how many GB of ref photos I have on hard drives. :D

Chris believes in giving value hand-in-hand with giving quality, so each head will not be the same sculpt/expression with different hair. Each one will be a different expression to make it unique. :banana:banana:banana

Pre-paying is good because it pays the commissioning fee to hire Chris to sculpt it, but you always have the option to wait until it is done. You have until it's cast to get the discounted "pre-casting fee" for the two that qualify right now.

So far, we have enough people on the list to produce the BALD and RE1 versions, and are only a few names shy away from his also producing a RE2 and RE:Extinction versions.

Chris was derailed from his custom work for a bit as his day job got busy, but now he's back on them and is finishing up some Doctor Who and Ghostbuster heads, and is going to proceed with his next commissions in order of those who've gotten their payments in to pay him.

So many people want the BALD and RE1 versions (we've topped 15!!!), their prices have dropped from $35 down to $25 a head as a temporary pre-cast special for people who pay now (the price goes back up once cast). At $25 a head we'll need 14 payments in per head for Chris to proceed (+ $5 for shipping).

He's made two "blank" starter heads to begin sculpting Milla for when they are in, so lets get those payments in gang! I believe Chris has a mental target date of having all his commissions done by very early next year, but will release a rough schedule soon. All these commissions you see on the boards are for wave one and two of commissions he is working on, and ought to be done by spring? He can work on multiple heads at once and is very fast. Milla is in "wave one".

Same basic neck style, the hole will be slightly roomy so it can be fitted to any similar body style with built in neck. A little sticky putty to keep it in place should work nicely.:naughty

Absoltely :D Probably won't be able to find a nicer looking body with the smaller hips and wider shoulders...hips especially tend to run large on female figures.

Chris is big on making accessories as needed to complete the character.
Someone made a good point to me in a PM about the two RE: Extinction knives.
Since we are getting VERY close to getting enough people to actually make that version or Milla happen, are the knives something you guys would be interested in buying with the head as accessorues as well? Weigh in and if enough people want them, we can always ask Chris if he would be willing to make them!

I think getting someone to make costumes for the group is a GREAT idea, but I'm unfortunately too busy to be able to coordinate and chase after yet another additional project like that myself. However, I wholeheartedly suggest maybe one of you guys go out there and ask some of our talented 1:6 tailors and seamstress out there if they'd be interested and maybe get a list started yourselves you can promote here and in its own thread.

I got Both my hand guns and my dual hand machine guns for res evil 2 milla. I will have to modify the machine guns a bit but not much, and instead of p-14 I got 2 berettas but they are great and look pretty much the same once I do some paint. couldn't find the pump shot gun here but they have them at ebay so thats ok. anyway happy shopping! :D Those of you who are doing the res evil 2 hs check out page 8 at this site: snow machine gun with folding stock- it almost identical to her heckler and koch dual machine guns she uses in the movie right down to the red writing on the side. just have to rid yorself of the folding stock and file down the ammo clip a little. FANTASTIC!! and its CHEAP!!

MP5Ks are a dime a dozen as are the M9s. The shotgun will be a little harder too track down, but there are several TUS shotties that will do with a repaint, a few dml as well. The hard thing about doing a really complete figure would be the holsters, those will have to be custom made.

Ok, I'm in for a RE2 Milla Jovovich head-sculpt!

However, as I have to send MO's (no paypal for us poor Colombians) I would like to try to make one single MO to cover three and possibly four different transactions:

1- Milla HS (Chris Howes)
2- Milla RE2 clothing (Blindvoyeur)
3- Deckard outfit TBD which parts (Blindvoyeur)
4- Star Trek Kirk, Spock and McCoy outfits TBD

The reason I would like to do this is that I get hit with transaction fees everytime I send an MO, so making one single MO would save a considerable sum. If someone would accept to take the entire sum for all the different commissions and then paypal the respective amounts to each customizer, it would be of great (not least of all financial) help to me.
Would anybody be interested in helping me out with this?

I can tell you what I know (and Chris can always be free to correct me wherever I'm wrong). Many Bothans died to bring us this information. :(

Chris is not only working oldest to newest commissions, but also finishing the ones that have been paid off entirely already up front because those naturally get priority over others that haven't been paid yet for him to start.

I know now that Chris has finally been able to tackle the commissions he was kept away from because of his unexpected dayjob committments, he's been absolutely slaving away in his dungeons cackling and creating.

The Doctor Who commissions of the Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane are VERY close to being finished, I mean, "can be revealed any time" almost done, as is Ray from Ghostbusters. K-9's head is finished, but the full piece will not be done in time for the 4th Doc/Sarah debut. I know that Chris continues to work his way through his sweet Summer Glau variations at the same time, and have seen pics posted of progress on the Gladiator armor, (but don't follow that thread so in depth as to know where it stands).

I know Milla is coming up next after that because he has "blank" heads already created for her so he will be able to start when he is ready, AND since that time the Milla thread has really taken off adding two more heads into the mix, and growing so large the price for Bald Milla and RE1 milla dropped to $25 a head because they reached the magic number of 15 people (so keep adding your names guys, you make these lists and price drops happen)!

Both the RE2 and RE3 list are just a few people away from reaching 15 people to get them to drop to down to $25 bucks a head as well, so again, make sure to add your names people and we can get them cheaper!

On a side note Saya has asked Blind Voyeur to make RE2 costumes, and that has now snowballed into him making RE 1,2,AND 3 costumes, so if you want costumes, make sure you find her thread (posted a few posts above).

Also, mentioned pages earlier. Chris is fine with making ALICES funky knives for part 3, so it's gonna be a FINE lookin custom!

IKE-CON recently did a version of this - the head on this is better but the clothes were also by Harue and included the leather jacket she wore. The gun also had movie accurate clear magazine. I'm not particularly happy with the head but I'm almost certain its the paint rather than the sculpt (which was done by Reggie from OSW) - I'm tossing up whether to try get smallstudios to do a repaint - he did a great job on my SRAMOS milla head... or whether to just hold out for the C Howes version.

I think that was made by Hayashi. Overall a great looking figure, just IMO the nose should've been bit smaller or more pointy, rather than round shaped (flared nostrils), and closed mouth would look nicer ..but hey, better than what I could do :lol

The proto bald HS from IKE-Con looked promising but the final looks kinda scraggy ..maybe just not very good angles in the pics? Aside from HS, outfit and accessories are nice.
