It looks like DC's merchandising has gone a bit dormant for years now IMO. Take Batman, The last 2 movies were a hit and till now we haven't seen anything decent related to the caped crusader except maybe for the HT figures, but I'm more of a statue lover. I was expecting that after Dark Knight's huge success product companies such as Gentle Giant would be encouraged to release some great statues or busts from the movie version and MOSTLY the comic versions. Personally the only decent statues I see from DC Direct are the Batman Black and White statues. But then I see Bowen's Marvel statues and I ask myself why can't they do the same with DC? I mean let's face it, DC's busts are not as good as Marvel's. I'd love to see sculptors like Bowen come up with a 12" Batman Jim Lee style statue standing on the gargoyle, it would be great (Kotobukiya one not included). It's sad that the world's most loved comic book hero like Batman is given so little attention in the world of merchandise. :(

DCD did release a large scale Jim Lee Batman - it was pretty good. And they've done some excellent statutes, although you're right that they've not even attempted the depth that Bowen has taken Marvel.

I'm almost glad Bowen doesn't do DC statues. To see statues of that quality would make me go broke for sure.

Are you refering to the statue in the pic below? If yes then it's not a large scale, its even less than 6 inches tall. Or did I miss out something?

Come on, you don't have to buy everything Bowen produces.

Yeah, but you start with one and that usually leads to more. :lol I would love to see Bowen do the the Trinity: Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

And DCD did do a full-size Jim Lee Batman statue.

There is a mini version that is about 6 inches and the larger one that is about 11". It's not 1/6 scale, more 1/7.

Yeah....she's like a PF Wonder Woman from DCD. She does look like she's done really well.

Crap, now you lost me. You're not refering to the Kotobukiya statue, right? I don't like PVC statues, they look more figures than statues to me.

Actually, there are three versions of the Jim Lee Batman: The original 11.5-inch statue, and two 6-inch mini-statues.

I have seen that stuate open at my LCS and it is really nice. The Batman crusader statue is also very nice looking. As a pair that would be a sweet set up.

Oh I see now. Still the 3 of them are technically the same and I don't like the sculp at all, it doesn't resemble Jim Lee's cover art, not even a bit (take a look at his chin for example).

So far anything DCD has produced that was marketed as "high end" has been laughable in my opinion. They seriously need to give a license to Sideshow and watch the pennies roll in like crazy. Who wouldn't buy a Premium Format Superman, or Premium Format Batman...? I would...

I did.

Do you have any of the DCD pieces? The Superman vs. Wonder Woman is great, as are the other Vs. pieces, the Women of th DCU and the Batman B&W.

Color me jealous. DD could snap some pics of the PF Bats and Supes. I have never seen them together. And pics of the Superman one are scarce for some reason.

I wouldn't mind seeing that myself. I've been thinking about picking them up but can't find any in-hand shots.

Superman is less successful than Batman, not a lot of people have him I think.

I'll try and take some closer pics, but I had this one already.

Damn, they look fantastic.

Questions:
Do they deserve the harsh criticism they receive?
Are they worth the purchase price?

I noticed the 1/4 Wonder Woman is coming this year so I'm guessing DC's going to stick with this line. Could turn out to be a cool collection.

All you have to do is search...here are a couple threads about the Batman one.

T'anks pal.

Seems like I searched for this before but came up with zilch.

Starting to look like this year is going to be tougher on the $$$ than I originally thought....:monkey2

Superman is a victim of bad paint. Looking at Oluf's original sculpt the figure itself has a pretty HS. These are not worth the cost IMHO but they are not bad....

I have seen the DCD PFs of Batman and Superman at Forbidden Planet in London and I honestly thought they looked really bad (especially Superman) and way too overpriced. It's no where near what Sideshow would have done with them. Or so I believe anyway.

That is great.

I actually don't like the FS Lee... I think it lacks definition and detail. I love the art... hate the sculpt.

That is an awesome piece. And it really one of their true high end piece.

I think the Supes/Darkseid will be he next one ! That looks amazing in person ! I never thought I would buy a Supes statue, but after seeing this one at NYCC I had to order it.

I Think the Batman one is passable. But overpriced.

I think the Superman one is more like superboy.

The very open neckline really messes it up and makes him look like a chicken neck.

He also is not near as bulked up as he should be IMHO and I don't think the Head sculpt is that good.

Yup...alll I need is the Trinity! Plus Green Lanter (Hal Jordan). I guess while they are at it they might as well do the other three human GLs. Oh, and a Sinestro Corps Sinestro, and a Hal Jordan Parallax....and then I guess a Kyle Rayner Parallax for comparison. OH OH, a KILAWOG for sure!! I guess you cant NOT do a Kyle Rayner ION then. Then Id like a Star Sapphire, a green lantern Batman, and a Green Lanter/Green Arrow against Mongol diorama! Then a Flash...but then Id be good =):duh

I agree that SSC would probably have done a better job with the PFs. But I do think Batman is very good and I'm looking forward to Wonder Woman. I don't know that they integration of the cloth worked all that well with Wondie though - and I'd have liked to have seen a different treatment for the girdle and breastplate on her.
