I'm using a Nikon 3100 digital camera with a 3.1 mega pixels. Using a double flash light function. And from my pics which i too, I also realised that if the background color is bright blue or black, the flash light will falls on the statue nicely and hence making the details of the statue more accurate and stands out. **Avoid using a white background, as the flash light is being absorbed by the white environment, hence making the statue abit dull and less precise.

Nevertheless, the suggestions I made above is from my own experiences and it's meant more for collectors like us who takes pics at home. Pro Photographers might have different perspective.
