Both are excellent, but I voted for Full Metal Jacket. All the performances are brilliant. And I love how it totally changes gears half way through.

I now have a new Joker avatar. :lol

Apocalypse now......:monkey1

I've got to go with Apocolypse Now - so many days after class in high school watching this film over and over ...

But for your poll, Full Metal Jacket - can't go wrong with Kubrick. I like Platoon, but never thought it was quite as good as everyone said it was.

Overall, Platoon is better.

Platoon with FMJ bootcamp segment, would be the greatest ever.

Bingo.

Platoon was great, but would still have to stand in a chair to kiss Apocalypse's ass---and Full Metal Jacket was a train wreck after about 30-40 minutes in.

Apocalypse Now is a great one, The Air Cav scenes rule. PLATOON in my opinion had a better story. The technical accuracy of PLATOON is amazing as well. I will always love FULL METAL JACKET, because I saw it about a month before I went to basic training down at Fort Benning, Georgia in 1988.

Oh yeah, no one has mentioned HAMBURGER HILL. That movie kicked butt!!! The battle scenes are incredible and it honors the spirit of the 101st Airborne.

Rambo first blood part 2

Only joking
It's really Deer hunter as it deals with before during and after the war.
I would have said First Blood but the war only features in very small sections
Also Casualties of war with michael j fox was a very moving film for me

Apocolypse Now for me.

Out of the two options you've listed I'd say Full Metal Jacket.

Full Metal Jacket for me.

Apocalypse is highly overrated and one of the most boring movies I have ever seen IMO, same for Platoon. Although I have not seen Platoon in something like 10 years so I should probably give it another shot.

Full Metal Jacket has my vote. But I also should give some credits to We Were Soldiers.

Apocalypse now......:monkey1

:lecture Same here.

But of those two options, Platoon.

Full Metal Jacket is also awesome but after boot camp it slows down a bit, if you could call it that.

would have to watch both again, it's been so long. the one that comes to mind though is We Were Soldiers, rewatched it not long ago and DAMN it sure makes you think about what these brave men went through on the front lines.
