I work a normal 9-5 job. Actually, I should be in to work by 8-8:30 at the latest. So my schedule is to stop doing whatever it is I'm doing around 10:30-11:00 and go to bed.

But here's the problem. I inevtiably stop by the old PC on my way to bed and check the freak show and don't end up going to bed till at least 1-2 hours later, well after 12:30. That reduces my required 7-8 hours of sleep to just 6... or less.

Is it just me?

Oh, I can relate. Here it is 1am and I'm still up. Have to be up in less than 8 hours. My problem is that I'm a night person so I'm more awake now than during the day (this is the case whether I get 10 hours or sleep or 6). I guess I should force myself to sleep now.

yup, definately a night owl. Except I wish I could leave work at 3:30PM like the othe schmoes that come in at 6:30 AM.

Let's see I had to be up for 5 am this morning and went to bed at 11pm. I too don't get enough sleep. Damn internets.........

I have a horrible sleep pattern. I blame it on the crap hours I worked in the Navy.

I have to be into work by 7:30am and work until 3:30pm to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday. Four night a week I have college classes. Monday & Wednesday from 6-8:30pm, Tuesday from 6-9:50pm & Thursday from 4-7pm. So I should be geting some good sleep from being on the run all the time. But NOOOO!

I was up at 5:30 today and am still up at about 2:35 and I have to be up in a few hours to go to work. And I am tired, but I just can't seem to sleep when I get into my bed, so I screw off on the 'net all night.

I can usually do this during the week and I get it all in on the weekend mornings. I know it's bad for me, but it's just how I do it.

I have had Chronic Insomnia for years now, the product of an overactive mind. I tried all sorts of 'pills and potions' and realised very soon I was worse off feeling groggy and dull headed.
I now sleep when my body requires it, but sometimes my work pattern interferes with that. Luckilly when I'm a wake, I'm able to be very focused and energetic, sometimes too focused!
I'm very keen on short 'naps', they recharge my batteries and keep me going. I gave up worrying about sleep a while ago, and 'go with the flow' I still find it irritating when I'm tired and can't sleep, but now I just use the timea as productively as I can.
The occasional 'lie in' helps too.
The only thing to really worry about is long term sleep deprivation, even a few nights of this can start affecting your mood then your mental state. Then and only then would I recommend some 'time off' & possibly some sedation.

My problem isn't getting to sleep, it's waking up. I think I found the cure though: I quit my job. Since quitting I've been getting up around 6:00 AM every morning, when just a week ago, I couldn't pry myself out of bed before 8:30.

The pc keeps me from getting my needed sleep too. I go in with every intention of shutting it off but then I'm in there for another hour or more.

i only get 4 or 5 hours a night myself.........."SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK".......i think that's why sideshow made Spooktacular......for us insomnamaniacs....:D

Dude, same here... I stay up every night until at least 1 am or later.. most of the time until 3 or 4.

Monday and Wed I have to be awake at 6am and out the door by 7am. Tues and Thurs I have more leeway, don't have to wake up until 10am... gives me more time to snooze.

My problem is the internet and also that I can't paint in the morning... just can't do it. Not creative until the sun goes down... I guess it's because I chose "Dark" Artist as a name and not... "Light" Artist. :lol

1 puff of the sweet leaf before bed every night makes me sleep like a baby ..... :monkey1

Yeah, damned internetz!!

LOLed at the "Dark Artist" bit!

:lol Yeah, stupid internet... with it's easy purchasing, porn, friends and all night fun. Damn it to HELL!

I had the same problem. Its a self control issue. I also read a study that said being in front of a computer for an extended period just before sleep has an effect on the sleep's restfulness.

I have insomnia. I try to goto sleep on time and when i FINALLY do get to sleep i wake up every 2 hours on the hour.(my mind don't shut off) I don't fight it anymore i basically sleep when i'm exhausted.

I have a solution, Scott. Pick up "Deep Sleep" at your local vitamin shop. Its magic.

I like to read the new posts before I go to bed--gives me something to add to my dream world-
Had a dream where I was eating a giant marsh mellow and when I got up my pillow was gone.....
