I'm having some problems with Photoshop as I just started playing around with it. How, once I have my background, do I put an image from My Pictures onto the background? I need to know pretty soon.

Thanks,
CJK

have you removed the background from your image? if so, then you need to create another layer and then paste your new background in that layer. then move that layer behind so your picture is in front of the background.

When I do that, it opens it as a new picture! Not a layer!

open a new picture in photoshop, after you have created the layer where you want it, then using the arrow tool just drag the picture onto the layer.

To have the image open directly in your background image file in a new layer, use the "Place" command.

1. From the main Photoshop menu, select File>Place....

2. From the "Place" dialog, navigate to your "My Pictures" folder, select your image, and press the Enter key.

3. The image you selected appears as a new layer, centered over your current background image. Select the Move tool (press the letter "V" on your keyboard to select it) and reposition your new image if necessary.

4. Press the Enter key to commit the image to its layer.

For more information about the "Place" command, select Help>Photoshop Help from the main menu and type "Place" in the Help Viewer's search field.

Good luck!

(And thanks for the plug, occ!)
