Really? I heard it was good. Still need to get around to seeing it.

Yeah. The dialogue is atrocious, badly edited, didn't give a crap about the story, would have preferred had Arnie been given more to do, too much gunfighting not enough hand-to-hand stuff IMO and even the fight with Van Damme at the end was disappointing.

Having said that, I'm not sure you could really make a genuinely good action film with such a huge cast of legends. Paradoxically its probably both the films strength and its handicap.

Well that sucks, that's one of the main reasons I hated the first one was the terrible dialogue. I guess i'll have to see it for myself and find out.

Both Expendables are horrible films.

The only reason people watch it is for nostalgia, take that away it's just another loud, stupid, glossy, hollywood film.

Looper - 8/10

I want to rate it higher but I've been thinking more and more of how most movies I rate highly don't deserve it, so I'm more thoughtful with my ratings nowadays.

Anyway, both actors were great, there was some nice comedic relief here and there, the story was convoluted in a good way. Some of the premises made me laugh and others left me scratching my head. Some things didn't make sense, but I liked how the movie explained that.

Overall it was fun, fast and an intense thriller, with some interesting plot points and twists.

The dialogue is possibly worse in this one. So many moments where you know you were supposed to laugh at the 'banter' but it didn't even bring you close, awkward verbal sparring where you know they were going for tense but you just don't give a crap.

I did actually like what others didn't like though, the parts where they referance each others movies and they even put in a Chuck Norris joke.

My score might be influenced by the fact that the 2D showing was sold out when we got there so we had to drop $50 to see it in 3D. It was nothing special...actually, it was pretty dumb...just like everything else Adam Sandler has touched in the past 15 years.

I was at the shop earlier today, had the Blu in my hand, remembered how awesome the film was, but I couldn't make myself buy it, because I didn't feel the need to watch it again rightaway...

The only reason I'm leaning towards buying is all the features.

I resist watching this because I kinda get fed up seeing it topping EVERYONE ON THE PLANET's favourite movies list but it is undeniably great. The ending is beautiful.

Next - 6.5/10

A *trailerguyvoice* Nicholas Caaage 'kinda sci-fi' thriller where he sports one of his silly wigs and is capable of seeing up to 2 minutes into the future thus giving him the ability to anticipate every scenario and avoid capture by Julianne Moore who needs him to help stop a nuke going off in the US. Breathe. He doesn't want to be captured presumably because, like Superman, he would be called on endlessly, and he wants his own life. Jessica Biel is in it, doesn't get to do much but look hot. It was a decent film.

Prometheus 9/10 Honestly I can see why alot of people were let down. I know when it was first coming out a ton of people I knew were expecting a straight prequel to Alien. Thus when it wasn't people immediately dismissed it. Me on the other hand stayed away from all information trailers forums etc and pretty much knew absolutely nothing about the movie until tonight and damnit I loved it. I seriously have never been as intrigued for a scifi film in a long time. Though I'm probably biased since I'm a sucker about stories on creationism and why we were created. I am glad I picked up the 3d edition. Im excited to start watching the bonus features.

I think it was quite different. To me it felt unfinished. Maybe a 6.5 out of 10. I think if they would have clearly spelled out motives it would have been better.

They didn't want to spell it out for anyone. That's how it was intended. I think people are forgetting that there will be 2 other movies to answer some of the questions. It is a prequel, just not a direct one. The 3rd movie will be the actual prequel.

Look people can end a movie however they want to. Personally the ending wasn't the problem. The ending was clear and the audience knows where they are going and why. If it isn't confirmed and financial backed there is no guarantee a sequel gets made. Even the writer and director weren't sure there would be a sequel. They said they made the movie enough to stand on it's own. I disagree with that statement. Again, I enjoyed it. They just needed to add a little more. The story could have used another slight script revision. This film is pretty damn close to being great. It falls just a hair short.

There was no...substance. I didn't think it was a "smart" movie at all. I didn't care what happened to any of the character's, couldn't take anything seriously because every five minutes some character does something ridiculous. The message was sort of obvious, I got it...I just felt like nothing really happened in the movie. Idunno.

Yeah.. Prometheus sucks.

Tedious. The one and only highlight of this movie is the green forest sequence. It's visually stunning and reminded me of an anime called Princess Mononoke.

Sinister 8/10. A very good horror flick - nice pacing, good atmosphere, excellent acting by Hawke. The dialog scene at the beginning between Hawke and the Sheriff was surprisingly good - an example of great character acting and well written dialog. Sure, there's some predictable aspects, but it's not about whether you've seen something similar before - of course you have. It's about whether or not they tell this story effectively, and they did. I also thought there was one nice twist that wasn't the norm:

It was leaving the house that sealed their fate, not staying.

Frankenweenie 8/10. What Rango was to old westerns, Frankenweenie is to old monster movies. Practically everything in this film, from character designs to names to scenes to dialog is a reference or homage to something else. And yet, there's a prety cool quirky story in there too, and while I thought the ending was a bit too formulaic, I thought it was great overall.

Looper 9/10. Best time travel film I've seen in awhile. I don't think there were any plot holes other than the obfious paradox of time travel itself, but if you want to try to point some out, please feel free. It made me want to break out my copy of Priimer and watch it a couple more times.

Sinister did slip a bit for me toward the last 15 minutes or so - they tend to show a bit too much, taking away some of the atmostphere, but overall the film worked for me.

Fine, but there is more to the movie. You just don't want to see it.

Death allegory's, creator vs creation stuff, identity crisis...it's a pretty multilayered flick.

I love the post-apocalyptic/futuristic atmosphere in movies like this, so maybe without that I would've dropped it's rating a bit. I'll have to watch it again in something other than ****ty bootleg quality.

I loved the line by the crazy howling blonde replicant psycho at the end.. :lol
