Frequency - 8/10

Never saw this before, didn't know anything about it in fact. Pretty good though. Its the one where Jim Caviezel is able to talk to his deceased father (Dennis Quaid) 30 years in the past through an old fireman radio - facilitated by an atmospheric phenomenon. Caviezel warns his dad about his imminent death in a fire-rescue and prevents it. However this has unanticipated knock-on effects involving a serial killer and the 2 of them, still communicating over the radio, have to find out who this killer is and how to stop him.

Dawn of the Dead ( Remake ) 8.5 / 10

Yes, yes I have seen this movie many times before but after watching it again yesterday I was reminded how great of a zombie movie it actually is. While, not terrifying in the least bit, it does give you a very uneasy feeling watching it with its "no hold barred" attitude. Takes no prisoners and their is no happy ending to this zombie flick. Exactly how it would be in real life.....kinda reminds me of the walking dead, which is why I like it soooooooooo much.

The story is well...um...out there...but I enjoyed Guy Pearce's character and Maggie Grace(Chick from LOST) has gotten a lot better at acting....the ending I didn't see coming but I wasn't really trying to figure things out to begin with....worth the $1.50 from red box no doubt.

Expendables 2 - 7/10 The cast was great. Nice mindless action where none of the heroes got his and never missed a shot. And the jokes were funny.

The rest of the movie was garbage. :lol The ending fight was weak.

The Expendables 2 9/10

I grew up watching Arnold, Sly, Bruce, JCVD, Dolph and Norris movies so to see all of them in one action set piece was amazing. I thought the movie was great. Was it cheesy? Absolutely but I loved every minute.

The only thing stopping this from being a 10/10 was the weak fight at the end between Sly and JCVD.

Can't wait for The Expendables 3

The Hunger Games 8/10

Watched it with my wife on Sunday. We both read the books and thought they were great. The movie was a pretty good adaptation I thought. I thought there were a lot of scenes that had a great emotional impact. Can't wait for the next one.

The Condemned ... 5/10. Not as bad as I thought it might be. Watchable. Contrived, predictable action fare, but good enough fight scenes. Steve Austin can't act .... but, he didn't really need to.

Behind Enemy Lines -- 7/10. Actually a pretty good movie. Wasn't expecting much with Owen Wilson in an action lead. Better than it should've been.

GI Joe -- 4/10. Not as good as it should've been. Way too high tech -- accelerator suits, laser guns, invisibility cloaks. Would it have been so difficult to use some slightly advanced military tech (like they're doing in the new Black Ops game) rather than freaking sci-fi weapons? Plot stunk. Acting was rough ... even having watched a Steve Austin movie earlier in the weekend.

Drag Me to Hell ... 2/10. I'll admit, I only watched a half-hour or so. My wife's idea. Completely retarded.

Who said anything about the Expendables? I think you're making a bit of a leap on conclutions there bud.

Yeah one thing that isn't debatable is Gosling. He owns that role.

He hardly spoke. More than half of his interactions with people throughout the movie were just awkward. :dunno

Better then the first and I like the story concept of this one. Nothing like an 007 with cars.

Yes those were great. Just seemed like the movie in it's first act was going nowhere and didn't have much to do with the conclusion. I guess it was more introduction to the characters than anything else. The movie divised me that's for sure. Tree of Life gave me the same feeling. Didn't know what to think of it.

Drive. 4.5/10

Some pointless characters, too little and pointless dialogue, over-used gore, and bad acting on Ryan Gosling's part. The only cool parts were the car chases, other than that...a pretty blan movie. Pretty disappointed.

:dunno

Personally I find most hype (especially on these boards) very overrated at the end of the day. I've yet to watch a hyped movie that delivered to my expectations. Having said that Drive was definitely not a bad movie nor was it a 4.5/10. It's a solid 7 imo.

So stop listening.

I hate calling a movie overrated unless it makes a billion dollars at the box office and people make videos calling it the greatest film ever made in the history of cinema.

That's overrated. People enjoying a movie....eh, that's just them enjoying it. Some over enjoy a movie. :lol And that is what you're talking about. And I know exactly what you mean.

That's just overhyped. Which would be the better word.

I just think Overrated should be used on a film like Avatar. Which is overrated in every single possible way. :lol

I know everyone hates that movie, and the story was very stupid, I will admit that,

but from going from the Awful resident Evil movies to this was a nice change, the movie Looks amazing, Looks, as in, the costumes are amazing, the sets are really good, it looked really pretty, everything looked really nice,
I am not going to deny it I enjoyed watching this, it was pure eye candy, nothing more,
I guess that's the reason people loved Avatar (the ones that did)
I Just visually really enjoyed it, it was nice to watch, the colors were very beautiful, the girls were very beautiful too,

now I am not comparing this movie to Avatar, I am just saying, I got that feeling that I enjoyed it visually similarly to how people defended Avatar left and right, when the story was awful, but it was beautiful to look at, for me this was beautiful to look at as well,

everyone hates the movie, which I understand, it is Paul WS Anderson, nothing good comes from him, but this was a really nice change from the vomit inducing resident evil movies

you are very lucky my friend,

I guess I am a sucker for these type of movies, period movies, I just love seeing the architecture and the costumes,

that's why I used Avatar as an example I guess, because people that loved the movie didn't mind the crappy story,
in my case I loved the way everything looked in Musketeers so much I didn't mind the bad story, I was really amazed Paul Anderson pulled it off, he could have made everything look really really bad, at least the costumes were really good, I loved this movie visually, yep, i do :peace

The Matrix - 9/10

Just rewatched it and it's even better than I remember. In particular, I like the hinted symbolism, intentional or otherwise, that the idea of the Matrix and its systematic necessity to be imperfect sprang from cinema itself. By that I mean, how we, as humans, tend to praise sad and broken down characters and stories, over the perfect, happier alternatives. They seem more "real" to us, as we can each relate or connect with many of them, on some level or another. Hollywood has often fed us films that a lot of us reject "subconsciously."

Bad, yes... but so was Dracula 2000 and John Carpenter's Vampires.

I would only want to see the last Twilight film, only to confirm that it is in fact the end of the franchise. Even then, it maybe more sufferable than the last few Harry Potter films. Oh yes I did!

Oh, I am sure we can find plenty more suck fests when it comes to vampire movies... Did you spot the pun? Muawahahahaha!

I even liked the sequel with Bon Jovi, Vampires: Los Muertos, pretty stupid but, I liked it, it was okay

Apparently Suzanne Collins got the idea for The Hunger Games from when she was channel surfing on TV. On one channel there were people competing on a reality game show, on the other, a news report of soldiers fighting in Iraq. The two blurred together in her head.

OR

She watched Battle Royale and thought it was awesome :rock

And the concept of a game show where contestants fight to the death has been done even earlier than Battle Royale with titles like The Running Man (Stephen King Book/Scwarzenegger Movie)
.
But yeah, THG and BR are exceptionally similar.

Battleship 4/10*

Okay this was probably one of the worst acting cast assemble. Taylor Kitsch & Rihanna are horrible. Liam Neeson is good at the beginning but was not used in the middle half of the movie. Think he was just collecting a paycheck :lol Actors rating 1/10*

Special effects & sound was top notch. 10/10* Very Michael Bayish style. Some would hate it, others will like it. I liked it. A little bit of G.I.Joe meets Transformers meets Armagadan.

However, the story is horrible 1/10* I could care less at the beginning of the movie intro on the younger Hopper. The ending of the other battleship that was used made absolutely no sense.

If you have a museum Battleship USS Missouri for public display, why are there weapons still there? Shouldn't all those be removed?

I was going to since it came out before season 2..but since it's supposed to be a prequel I figured I'd just watch season 2 first.
I'm only one episode in season two so far.

Oh, and it really isn't the same without Andy Whitfield. Damn.

There is some character arcs in season 2 that take up from Gods of the Arena so I would say yes, watch that first. In fact more than just character arcs, theres some important characters you meet for the first time in GotA and you won't know why you're supposed to give a crap about them when they appear in season 2.

Gods of the Arena is AMAZING. It's a prequel that really has fantastic writing and in no way whatsoever feels like a cheap cash in. In some ways it's almost better than Season 1. And Gannicus is a BADASS new character.

I am truly amazed at how good Spartacus is. At first I thought it was just 300 meets Playboy (as everyone was saying), but 3 episodes in it was clear that there was more to this show than just T&A. The acting and writing is beyond brilliant. Jupiter's caulk!
