Batman Dark knight Rises 10/10

The blockbuster movie of 2012 was The Avengers, Amazing Spiderman & Batman DKR. Out of the 3, I enjoyed the Avengers the most (10/10) closely followed by Batman & Spiderman which I gave it 9.5/10.

My first glance was this took a long time to get to Bruce Wayne donning the bat suit. Took almost 1 hour before he wore his suit. Anne Hatheway was a surprise cast & she was perfect for the role. Bane was another character which i was pleasantly surprise at. My ownly quam was that i wish he was based more like the comic book. However, there was a scene that Bane did something to Batman that was very true to the comics. With all batman villians, Heath Ledger's Joker would reign surpreme.

A very surprise twist as the movie goes on. I like how Chris Nolan ties the previous 2 movies to this also. We got to delve into who Bruce Wayne is and what he represents to Gotham.

It's sad to see this trilogy ends but both Chris Nolan & Christian Bale had made this the best Batman series ever. It will be hard to surpass. Go see this movie guys!

Spoiler tag?

TMNT (2007) - 7/10

Pretty enjoyable, don't know what it gets so much hate, it lacks the classic villains but the Foot is still present and I really liked the comic book feel. Could have done without Laurence Fishburne's voice overs in the beginning. Would have really liked to have seen what they had planned for the sequel.

TDKR. Was very good. Bane and Catwoman were excellent. Felt the movie was missing something. I don't like how Gotham was basically New York. Not a patch on BB or TDK but by no means a bad way to end the story. 8/10

07-21-2012, 05:37 PM
'Not a patch on'? After that phrase I'd expect to see a 5/10. What must you think of BB and TDK if a film that isn't a patch on them gets an 8?!

I thought I'd be rating TDKR tonight but not so afterall.

The difference between an 8 and a ten to me is quite a bit. BB and TDK are solid 10's for me. So for a film in the same series to get 2 points lower is quite substantcial. I'm actually watching TDK now and already I'm thinking it's a better film. Not just because of the joker but because it just feels better written and cleverer.

I love going into a movie like this spoiler-free. A very solid ending to Nolan's vision.

Dude that bear was a celebrity. Bart even appeared in The Great Outdoors. :D

As for Alec aging, I think his divorce played a big part in that. The weight gain too.

Where BB loses a few points for me, is the Tumbler chase, it feels very sloppy in editing and the way its shot. Also those awful comments "tell me what it looks like?!" It's the delivery of those lines that make them so bad. He got the hang of shooting a chase far better by the time he did the DK truck vs pod. The chatters way better as well, "Whats that? A Bazooka?!" Still the best of the 3 though(Begins).

Starman: 7/10

Good alien flick from the 80's, pretty low-key, but well done and a good cast. Never realized until yesterday it was John Carpenter film.

The Matrix: 9/10

Love this movie, only thing holding it back from a 10 is some of the cheesey dialog. Definitely a modern classic, too bad the sequels sucked ass.

The Amazing Spider-man 9/10. Not perfect but a damn fine effort.

I had the pleasure of seeing this almost a month prior to its official release and I recall loving it but I felt the score was lacking. After reading some of the critics reviews I began to wonder if I rated this too highly and whether I was seeing this movie through rose tinted glasses. So I went again today for its first day of official release and settled in to a sold out screening which was impressive as the cinema was showing both 2D (my choice) and 3D at once.

I was correct in my initial assessment. I love this movie. It transported me back to when I was seven and my introduction to The Amazing Spider-man. When Raimi brought Spider-man to the big screen I was so relieved and excited to eventually see my hero once and for all. Superman fans had had their superhero transported to the big screen almost 20 years previous, Batman 13 years previous. Would I ever get to see him? CGI was only really taking off in the early noughties. It was a revelation to see him. But although I loved Raimi’s movie it did not touch me in the same way this movie has. Spider-man 2 was superior to Raimi’s first outing and I rank it in my top three comic book adaptations. But again it simply did not have the emotional impact Webb’s rendition of the character has.

He has explored the human relationship and condition beyond any previous comic-book movie has dared to explore. There are some seriously tender moments in the movie, yet in many ways those moments have been let down by a lacklustre score.

Some people will rightly question the rebooting of a franchise so soon after Spider-man 3. Yet if Raimi had dealt with the tragic story arc of Gwen Stacy we would not have had this reboot. The Gwen Stacy arc is critical in the formation of the character of Peter Parker and Spider-man. This movie has laid the foundation for that arc. I will bet there won’t be a dry eye in the house when this epic story is concluded.

Thank you Marc Webb for reminding me why I love Spider-man.

OK...the movie is 16 years old. But I watched "Bound" for the first time the other day.

7/10 - the movie is good all by itself. There is simply nothing to dislike about it. I would have rated it higher if the story had more originality to it.

Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon should have gotten an award for the sex scene.

Youtube :monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2

Someone uploaded them and I was curious to see what everyone was talking about, that movie is easily a soft core porn movie, which should not be allowed on youtube,
yet it has like 9 thousand views on youtube, I really don't know why they have not taken them down, any kid can just log in and watch that...:medic

The Prestige - 8/10.

Will most likely get a higher rating once I watch it again since I feel like there's a couple things I didn't catch. Other than that, I loved it.

What?! This movie can be watched on YouTube? Is it the uncut version or the neutered version? Either way I am kinda appalled that one can watch this on yt.

So you really disliked it, huh? Yeah, me too.

I don't know but I saw pretty disturbing things, I guess it is not the uncut version BUT there is gore and boobs and blood and horrible rape,

and yes the whole thing is on youtube,
and, you have to log in to see it, so that means Youtube knows it's on there, just like Guinea pig 2, it is still there too

Most likely just the regular cut. The uncut is just added graphic scenes to the nasty scenes, including the ending.

I didn't expect it to be that great, and it wasn't..but I really enjoyed it and might even buy it when it comes out on blu-ray.

Weren't you complaining that they were not changing anything with this one? Or something...I can't remember.

I don't remember much of the original ____ty Arnold one, but I think a lot was changed. For one, it didn't take place on Mars.

Really loved the futuristic vibe/atmosphere...and the city designs. Especially the houses/apartments.

Three-breasted chic was far sexier than the original.

And I want one of those hand phones...

CelticPredator

Changing the location doesn't mean anything when you have the same story. Which it does.

The Arnold one will always be better. In every single way. Because it is. That's a fact, Jack.

Basic yes. But not the entire plot.

The Fly, and the 80's remake share the same basic story. Man's experiment goes wrong, and he is transformed into a fly. But the 80's version is NOTHING like the original, outside of that.

And that's what makes it a good remake.

Total Recall (2012) - 6/10

An ok movie, pretty much had little similarities to the original. Lots of ridiculous shootouts where no one hits anyone and look at our grungy future type shots, but over all just a semi decent sci-fi flick really. Wasnt bad, but wasnt great.
